Closed the food booths in the 8th inning?

    by Scott12356 on 7/12/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

All that was left in the top of the 8th was a Rueben sandwich and some fries. Everything else was closed.

The Rainiers lost so that was bad and the wind tunnel by the concessions was unbearable. You need to do something to cut the wind!!!!

    Nice game

    by Nate55 on 7/10/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Game was nice. Good price. Good seats. Awesome fireworks! My only complaint was that there was NO parking at the stadium approx 30 min prior to first pitch. What up? I think they block many parking spots for fireworks. However there is park-and-ride lot on the other side of 16. This lot was free. The walk was fairly short (just under the over pass). And there was no wait to get home. I will park there in the future (I'm cheap like that). Go Rainers!

    Chillin' at Cheney - Literally

by Ferryman on 7/9/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

We're still getting used to the new Cheney Stadium but overall we like it. The concession stands area turns into a wind tunnel worthy of Boeing wing testing on nights like Thursday. But $1 hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate helped ease the chill. Too bad we lost but it was a good, well played game. Looks like the Fun Squad, led by Geoff, has been reduced to a shadow of what it once was. Our bet is that lackluster management support for what used to be a big part of the entertainment will be gone next year. Instead, they are lamely trying to replace it with various things on the video screen, all of which are very weak. And please, stop running the video of the snowboard races between Rhubarb and those other two clowns. That has to be the most boring 2 minutes in AAA baseball. And coming in a close second is the well produced but SLOW and, this far into the season, largely irrelevant video depicting the creation of the renovated stadium. To see that once is more than enough.

Friday night fireworks are always a hit!

by papayagurl on 7/7/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Rainier's games are so much better than Mariner's games! I'd much rather watch Rhubarb strutt around and goof-off and interact with the crowd. The fireworkds were also awesome...and always a hit on Fridays! I always love ball-park food, so that's a no-brainer, so all-in-all, I'm definitely looking at buying season tickets!

    1st Time to New Stadium

by luvrainiers on 7/6/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

We arrived in plenty of time for parking anticipating a relaxing time before the game to have dinner. We found good choices on food but the downside was that there was no place to sit and enjoy or dinner without going up to our seats. There is not enough tables, etc. to enjoy a dinner before the game. We watched people stading juggling their food to eat. Once we got to our seats we really enjoyed how the new stadium looked. We were excited for the game but left at the top of the fifth inning at 9 pm. Game was boring and we lost interest in the event. We may try another game this summer. Have been to many games in the old stadium. We do enjoy the new stadium. Friday was just one of those evenings. We missed the fireworks.-

    Tacoma Rainiers vs. Fresno Grizzlies

by MrsCleaver on 7/5/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

The stadium was nice. The game was great. People were happy and friendly. Not a bad seat in the place for a fun family night at the ballgame. Fireworks were really good too.

    Don't pick the cheap seats!!!!

    by MJ6700 on 7/5/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Very disappointed with this experience... My family and I purchased the cheapest grass level seats, and were very upset to find out that they completely oversold the seats. There were many people who did not have any place to sit, and we at least had the very bottom grass spot, but could not see the game at all! They need to plan much better for something like this, as I know many people were not pleased!

    Fun evening

by CubsWinWA on 7/5/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

I attended the July 3rd game with the Fireworks Spectacular. Overall a very good evening. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Ballpark was very clean including the restrooms. Concessions was the one small disappointment. Prices are high (as expected) and quality was fair. Chicken stripes and fries were warm, not hot, no ice in soft drink. They also ran out of many items before the middle of the game. Overall a fun evening of baseball!

Tacoma Rainiers baseball is great fun!!

    by funmom2011 on 6/22/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Are family went to the rainiers game for fathers day and had a great time. Its a great family atmasphere, easy parking and lots of funny things to entertain the crowd between innings. It was my daughters first baseball game and she loved it. Were definately going to see more rainier games this season.

    Rainiers Good! Stadium Bad.

    by StillRockin7 on 6/20/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

My family and I enjoyed cheering the Rainiers to victory over the SLC Bees. There were lots of full counts and pitches fouled away so the pace was a bit slow, but that's baseball. No complaints about the game. This was our first visit to the remodeled Cheney Stadium and the unanimous verdict on the venue is that the people responsible for paring back the roof should be forced to sit out in the rain through every game played in inclement weather. We were drenched because of the lack of decent cover but stayed until the 8th inning when the late hour motivated us to head for home to dry out our rain gear. Most spectators around us left in the early innings. The new roof design is a complete fiasco for a ballpark in the Northwest. They should have gotten a clue from the fancy and expensive roof that was built to prevent fans from suffering in the rain at Safeco Field.

Enjoyed the game despite the rain. The seats were great! But, if you want seats where you won't get soaked if it is raining sit in the back 2 or 3 rows. The view is great and you will stay dry.

    Wet miserable weather great game

by Buymesomepeanuts on 6/20/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

With nowhere to hide/take cover from the rain in the new stadium anymore it was a very wet event. Many left after 3 innings we left after 5.

not sure what to make of this

    by fansince64 on 6/19/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Purchased tickets the day of the game. Chose to pick up tickets at will call. (girls wanted souvenir ticket stubs) Stood in line at will call for almost an hour. I thought will call was where you simply picked up the tickets you had already paid for ???...........1 window open - plenty of staff that did not seem interested in responding to the gigantic line that rapidly formed. Finally into the game we stopped for concessions. 35 minutes to get a corn dog we never received. We stood there with $50 of other "warm" food waiting for a simple corn dog that seemed elusive. After 35 minutes - I asked and received a refund so we could get to our seats. Later in the game my girls still wanted corn dogs - my youngest went to the concession stand - 30 minutes later - I went looking for her and found her standing next to the concession stand STILL WAITING for a corn dog that nobody could seem to produce even though they kept telling my daughter it was coming in 5 minutes - repeatedly...... Never Came...when I showed up and asked what the problem was - I was given the same line...I asked...after 30 minutes Is it at least cooking? As I was leaving the concession area I was approached by a member of the rainiers staff who indicated she was aware of the problem and would work to remedy the problem. She asked what I would like to be compensated. I told her it was unnecessary but that this experience was extremely frustrating. She asked for my seat number and said she would think of something. She showed up several innings later at our seats with another staff member who also was apologetic asked about compensation and when I reiterated it was not necessary but to please remedy the problem....she asked for my phone number and stated she would be contacting me the next day about tickets for another game as my daughters were leaving in a week. No phone call..................no contact...............????? Lip Service???? Not sure what to make of this "New Stadium" experience.

    Parking

    by pro1955 on 6/19/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

Game was great, started late, lots going on thats cool. Parking is a joke, they opened one whole parking lot for fireworks. We had to park at Fred Meyer and walk in, sucked.

    Disappointed!

by VCHersh on 6/9/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

My husband and I were quite disappointed in the overall experience of going to our first Rainiers baseball game. We live close the stadium (about a 5 minute drive) but ended up being about 15 min late due to the lack of parking. We waited in a long line to enter the lot, only to be told by the police officer directing traffic that no parking was available. When asked where else we could park, he replied, "I have no idea." After finally finding parking at a park and ride, we then had to wait in line at the Will Call box to pick up tickets for over 10 minutes. Overall, this was the most disorganized baseball game I've been to (minor or major league). My advice is take a cab and print your tickets at home.

I'm KOOKOO for Minor League baseball!

by Quitty on 6/6/11Cheney Stadium - Tacoma

The same two outfielders colliding more than once. Two dropped balls. Two runs walked in. A bases-loaded triple. A bunch of home runs. And no such thing as a bad seat in the house! I LOVE MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL.
