T.J. MILLER – THE NONSENSE TOUR

T.J. MILLER is on his way to Australia for his first time with his hilarious The Nonsense Tour. Miller is one of the most sought after comedians in the comedy world, but not in the drama world, or the finance world. Named one of Variety’s “Top 10 Comics to Watch,” and EW's “Next Big Things in Comedy”, you may recognize his non-animated face and body from his roles in Deadpool, Transformers 4, and Mike Judge’s HBO comedy series Silicon Valley.  His podcast "Cashing in with T.J. Miller" is listened to by 12 and 1⁄2 people, and he is a nationally touring standup artist, crisscrossing the country listening to Kris Kross (he's also done shows in the U.K. and Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico did not go well)).

He has been performing his absurdist observational stand-up act for over 10 years, and recorded his Comedy Central stand-up special T.J. Miller: No Real Person and hip-hop/pop/folk music album "The Extended Play E.P." He hosted Comedy Central’s Mash-Up, a mashup of standup, sketches and visualizations, and has appeared on Chelsea Lately more than most women his height. He got his start touring with Second City in Chicago and improvising with Annoyance Theater, iO, and managers at electronics stores asking why he was late and smelled like gin.

Miller has been in a number of major studio films including She’s Out of My League, Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World, Rock of Ages, Our Idiot Brother, Yogi Bear 3D, Get Him To The Greek, How To Train Your Dragon, and Christmas Party. He resides in Hollywood, California, where he struggles to find meaning in an uncertain world. He is a comedian.

Don’t miss your chance to see T.J. Miller LIVE!

  • I laughed so hard my face hurt

by Smarsh on 4/16/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Prior to buying my tickets to see T.J. Miller, I was only aware of him as a comedy actor. I had no idea that he did stand-up, and I was completely unprepared for how hilarious and amazing his stand-up would be. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe and my face hurt from laughing at multiple times. I loved the fact that I found him so hilarious and he had so little political comedy (which I do also love, but it was refreshing). Also the inclusion of the trombone and juggling was fantastic. I can't wait for the next time he comes to Boston so I can see him again and maybe bring some friends!

  • Hilariously Entertaining

by Emily on 4/16/19The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

T.J. Miller is a comedic genius and extremely passionate about his art. We laughed so hard. If you like him in films, you will like him even more in person!

It was worth the cost and TJ Miller was funny for our performance; however, each show is unique and requires the audience’s participation to make the show worth while. Entertaining for an evening, but not bucket list, tell your grandkids in twenty years sort of ordeal.

  • Awesome

Every show of his is different and very funny! I saw the boogerman in Phoenix in July. Then again in Tucson in December. Great audience interaction.

  • disappointing

by zuzalu on 6/26/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Something was missing, and it made me wonder if he cut his material short for some reason. It started with an opener doing maybe 10-15 minutes who was pretty great. Then two bigger named comedians performing at the next show did maybe 5 minutes each. I wasn't sure if this was planned or opportunistically added to fill out time. They were great, but unexpected since this was a short time slot. TJ Miller came on and did some slapstick stuff. He tried to weave this pseudo-intellectual joke throughout the set, but it didn't really go anywhere. Then he analyzed Duck Tales for like 20 minutes. The fact that this was the best part of the set was pretty disappointing. I don't think I would pay to see him again. I'm not too upset because the tickets weren't too expensive, but honestly I was expecting more and a tighter performance. Maybe it was just a bad night for him.

  • Lots of Laughs

by PembertonButtlesticks on 6/19/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

TJ's show at the Wilbur was a good time as he turned in a solid performance. Reading the other reviews I see a lot of negativity regarding the length of the act, as well as its content. As for the length of the act, this was a 7 o'clock show booked back to back with a 9:45 show. Considering that after TJ's show ended the Wilbur staff had to get everybody out and the theatre ready for the 9:45 show, TJ's set ending at 8:45 makes a sense. As for the content, I thought it was solid across the board. Made me smile and laugh, and that is why I'm a fan and went to see the show. Also, very cool to have a cameo by Ron Funches (the 9:45 headliner) for a few minutes before TJ came on. In summary, the show was "race cars, lasers, aeroplanes...it's a duckblur". Thanks TJ!

  • It was alright

by RCrosta on 6/16/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

I've never seen him live before, so I was excited to see his stand up based on This is Not Happening and specials. However, I wasn't that impressed. It was more so an act and acting silly. Certainly funny, but I enjoyed the openers a whole lot more. He had the two guys performing the late show go before him which I really respect him for. When I pay that much, I expect much more so I won't go see him again.

  • Confusing and not funny

by Silvermix on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

I didn't really know what to expect from this show, but I left confused and disappointed. The whole show felt rushed, improvised, and just bland. T.J. was just not funny, he just seemed bored and ready to leave the stage.

  • Great show

by MrRedSox on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Energetic, clever, just hilarious stuff! Definitely go see him whenever possible.

  • Alright

    by Nickname20473737292 on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Tj was quite funny at the start. Then started bringing up very serious societal topics and was unable to bring the humor back into the show. The spectators tried but no avail... He lost momentum. Disappointing appearance and it was very short. Wanted more material than just the DuckTales song.

  • Too much slapstick

by mlovell on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

I had high hopes for this show but left disappointed. A lot of physical comedy/slapstick which felt forced especially when he also tries to be very cerebral in certain parts of the show (i.e. a bit about nihilism and the deification of time). There was also an undercurrent of anger throughout his performance. We see a LOT of comedy shows and are open to different types of comedy, but I only laughed a few times during his set and was on the fence about leaving early. Too bad because as an actor I have appreciated his work, but I would not see his stand-up again.

  • Disappointing

    by MattB30 on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

The perfect word to describe this was disappointing. TJ just wasn't that funny. It is a shame because I am a big fan of Silicon Valley and Ehrlich Bachman so I was expecting a few laughs. His "Duck Tales" bit wasn't that funny and took up 20 mins out of his 40 mins performance. I thought his openers were funnier than he was

  • started late and ended early

    by Disappointedfan84128764 on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

They held the doors for almost 30 minutes and then 3 other comics did short sets before TJ came on. They were all funny but the 3 comics followed by TJ ended the whole show at 8:30. That was a lot of money to spend for a single hour... the Wilbur also really needs to rethink its floor seating. Very tight quarters and difficult to see since people are sitting in stools directly in front of you on the same level. Horrible

  • Meh

by GendrK on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

TJ had a lot of idea that seemed to have a lot of potential but hardly capitolised on any of them. It mostly felt like a rant about nothing. The openers were hilarious though

  • TJ MIller was Awful

by Anonymous on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

He was only on stage for about 45 minutes. In that 45 minute span, he spent 20 minutes on a dumb and unfunny joke about the theme song of a show called Ducktales. Quite a disappointment. Nothing is worse at a comedy show than when a Headliner is outdone by the opening act.

  • Regrettable

by Beantownbill on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

Big fan of TJM; really fell short of expectations!

  • Funny but very short

    by Robb26 on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

The comics were good but the show was super short overall. First comic didn't go on til about 7:15 and TJ Miller ended right around 8:30. While the comedy was great it was very short and was expecting a bit longer for the money we paid. Drinks are extremely overpriced, $14 for a Coors Light.

  • 'twas ok...

    by C3POOOOOOOOOO on 6/13/17The Wilbur - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

I was really looking forward to this because I love what TJ Miller does on TV and in movies and this was my first time seeing him do stand-up. I would say most of it was relatively funny because it was mostly ad-libbed and he's pretty witty. It never really reached a point where he had actual jokes prepared though. When he ended the show the audience was slightly confused that he was done because he was just goofing off up there and it didn't quite seem like an actual stand-up show. I was slightly disappointed because I paid a decent amount of money for these tickets and I didn't feel happy at the end. Maybe I'm just not used to his style of stand-up or maybe he should just stick with acting..?
