Syracuse University Men's Basketball History
Syracuse fielded its first basketball team in 1900, and the team achieved its first winning record three years later when John A.R. Scott started coaching the squad. The Orange played independent of a conference for decades, but when the Big East Conference coalesced in 1979, Syracuse came on board as a founding member. The team won 10 regular-season Big East titles until it joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013.
From 1976 to 2023, the program was coached by Jim Boeheim. During his tenure In the '80s, Syracuse boasted a crop of phenoms, including Rony Seikaly, Pearl Washington, Sherman Douglas, and Derrick Coleman. In 2002, future NBA star Carmelo Anthony played his freshman year at Syracuse before leaving for the NBA draft. The Orange won the NCAA Championship with Anthony in 2003. Syracuse has appeared in the NCAA Final Four five additional times and overall has made the NCAA Tournament an impressive 41 times.
Syracuse's biggest rival is the Georgetown Hoyas, a team they’ve been squaring off against since the 1930. Syracuse also has rivalries with the UConn Huskies, as well as a newer rivalry with Duke.

Until the 1980-81 season, the Orange played their home games at Manley Field House, and then moved over to the 34,616-capacity Carrier Dome, which was renamed to the JMA Wireless Dome in 2022. Syracuse boasts some of the most dedicated fans in college basketball, as the team regularly sets attendance records at their home games. They are currently coached by Adrian Autry.
The Syracuse Orange’s 2023–24 regular season kicks off in November at home as the Orange face off against New Hampshire. The Orange play their final game of the regular season in South Carolina against Clemson. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:

Venue was great, seats were great and the atmosphere was electric!!!
Always great to see a 'Cuse victory at the Dome! The people working at the doors, seat sections and concessions, always make you feel at home with their friendly and helpful demeanor! The crowd was the largest on campus to date for '18-'19 season! GO 'CUSE!!!!
I will only use Ticket Master in the future for obtaining tickets for all sporting events. Easy process and tickets are much more reasonably priced then on some of the other sites.
Great basketball environment. Great experience in the carrier dome.
I received tickets on time, the game was great fun (despite the loss!). We will be back!
What an awesome first experience. So glad I got my dad tix for Christmas. We had a blast.
Not many places better to see a b-ball game than Cuse at the Dome !!!
We had an awesome time. We've been going to see the Orange for 10 years. The shuttle, the fun zone and the food is great! It's truly a fun family day out.
Went to the Carrier Dome Wednesday night and saw a great college basketball game. While there really isn't a bad seat as far as I can tell at the Dome the needs to be some major upgrades in terms of atmosphere as well as concessions. It was an easy in and out after we waited the crowd out a little at the end of the game. The experience for the money is just a little average.
Decent seats which allowed me to view the game high up. Being a former high school ref and high school coach i Love scouting from up high. You can see the body of work by both the players, coaches and referees. Excellent reffed game and a fair played game by the players. Coaches did what they though t they should. Enjoyed my time and will be back when the Irish visits Cuse in Lacrosse.
The Dome is nostalgic and wonderful if you go in not expecting too much or if you're a Syracuse fan. The food selection is limited, unfortunately. The concession stands all offer the same, limited food options, and there's only black coffee. The beer selection is great and beer vendors are everywhere, but the limited food options leave a lot to be desired. Facilities are minimal, which is fine. Fans are great, and the Dome will always be home for Syracuse fans!
There's nothing like a 'Cuse win in the dome against a formidable ACC opponent! Add the New Years Eve timing and it was just a great way to ring in the New Year!!!!!
I took my father to this game. He required a wheelchair and I was very pleased with the easy access to the venue and the seating area for the event. Also, the overall excitement of the Carrier Dome makes for an awesome experience!!
We had an unfortunate ending to the game, but getting seats through TM, being able to select your exact seat, is excellent!
A classic chess match between two hall of fame coaches and friends; the spirit of which will not be diminished by NCAA sanctions, nor ACC traditions. The ACC and NCAA will forever be changed with the inevitible retirements of these coaches!!!!
Great service from Ticketmaster and the Event Staff at The Carrier Dome.
Seats were great! Syracuse rolls over Virginia!! Everyone should see a game at the Carrier Dome
Game was great, seats were good and the t am I was cheering for won. It was a great experience.
The Syracuse Carrier Dome is an amazing place to see a game, especially an SU basketball upset win!
Great to watch the Orange play! However, why do people attend basketball games to do anything but watch basketball? I mean, if you aren't going to watch the game, get a seat up in the nosebleeds! The 50 year old lady next to me did nothing but play on her phone the entire time.
