Holiday event with less holiday music

by Anonymous on 12/16/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I wanted more seasonal / traditional songs. They were few and far between. They ended it on NY, NY and why was that? The power point slides were tacky at best. Of course the orchestra was fine and it's an intimate theater but the selections left me wanting. I hoped this would kick off the season and get a northerner ready for a warm Florida Christmas...but it didn't. Last year their was a choir too...overall I was disappointed.

    Dissapointed

by Jahmbi on 8/11/15Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

The musicians were great, we had an excellent seat (center 7th row). The theater is beautiful, the service is great but the acoustics were poor. Tonal quality was flat and the sound was overall homogenized as it reached our ears. Too bad. The talent was extraordinary but we didn't get to enjoy it. Frank Aloise

    SUMMERFEST ARPEGGIONE

by AMagoo on 8/10/15FAU - University Theatre - Boca Raton

This was an outstanding event. The chamber orchestra was very talented, the conductor was in total control, the venue (University Theater at FAU) was outstanding, the music selection was very good (of course, we liked some better than others, but that's a matter of personal taste). We couldn't say enough good things about it.

    Excellent music and voice

by Jan801 on 4/15/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Totally enjoyed the afternoon - variety of music from the orchestra and the chorus. Both conductors were excellent. The Amaturo is a very nice venue.

    Aliveness and awesome

by RosaDanzante33 on 4/15/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I am originally from Venezuela. Beautiful concert, the orchestra and the choir together in an amazing repertoire. I always wanted to hear the gay men choir .... just superb. Same for the conductors and again, the selection of the music pieces just music from the soul to the soul. Spiritual experience as the sound, the frequency of the music touched every fiber of my being and triggered the essence of beauty and beyond aliveness.

    GMCSF and SOA

by Gcleff on 4/15/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

An amazingly diverse concert superbly delivered by two of South Florida's premier musical groups. The Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida directed by Gordon Roberts took the performance of several difficult pieces to a fantastic fulfilling and gratifying evening! The Symphony of the Americas led by the strong conduction of maestro James-Brooks Bruzzese once again delivered a fine performance. The collaboration of the two organizations gave the audience an evening to remember. We can only hope they will join forces in the near future!

    Rich Choral and Orchestral Experience

by Drdoall on 4/15/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

It's always a pleasure to listen to the simplicity of the human voice accompanied by the complexity of instruments. When done properly, the combination is awe inspiring especially when done "en masse". While some numbers were not my favorites, the overall selection was pleasing and the acoustics were superb. Bravo/brava to all!

    great varied music concert

by zeestpl on 4/11/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Symphony of the Americans played a variety of music. The choir was inconsistent. The entering and exiting the stage of the directors seemed unprofessional.

    A Double WOW!!

by Musicman1947 on 12/12/14Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I attended the holiday concert and was overwhelmed. The orchestra was so superior to two other orchestras I heard in the last 10 days it was amazing. They were so precise and in-tune with each other. Their enthusiasm for each piece was palpable. The soloists Dunlap and Pennington were above reproach and so entertaining not only playing by themselves but also playing with the orchestra in the second half. They are a duo everyone needs to hear at least once if not many times. Orchestra + Dunlap and Pennington = A Double WOW!! I had an absolutely wonderful evening. So wonderful, I'm thinking about buying subscription tickets next year to the Symphony of the Americas.

A wonderful Orchestra but terrible piano Duo

by ladyfish74 on 12/12/14Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

We have such a wonderful orchestra here in Fort Lauderdale. It is a shame that canned music was added to this performance. We came for the beauty of the orchestra music but instead heard a very loud synthesizer equipped organ blasting and drowning out the beautiful orchestra tones. It was difficult to watch the orchestra members who had to sit idly by to listen to a synthesizer making sounds of all instruments they could be playing. We did enjoy the one natural piano accompaniment but found ourselves patiently waiting with our ears ringing from the synthesizer to welcome the orchestra back. I would not want to see this combo again if they are included in the program. Let the orchestra play. They have such talent. The guest conductor was fabulous. This did a great disservice to the orchestra members who undoubtedly spent a lot of practice time and personal time to play at this performance. My average rating in no way is based on the performance of the orchestra only the "dueling pianos".

Loved the guest conductor - Alessandro Siciliani

by graydays on 12/10/14Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Although the concert was enjoyable, it was amazing to see how an orchestra can lift their performance and shine when inspired, as Alessandro Siciliani did. I'd love to see him conduct again.

    To much talking !!!

by AliciaFT on 10/20/14Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

The music was splendid, but it took to much time to start. The oportunity was taking to make to much apreciation for the supporters and it took about 1 hour for the music start. Even thoug the event was called Venice to Vzla, it was not much music chosen from those two countries.
