About

SWMRS IN CONCERT:

Oakland-based SWMRS make straightforward punk rock that trades in their forebears' snarling attitudes and political posturing for tongue-in-cheek fun. The band loves to mess around both in the studio and on stage, and their live shows are wild free-for-alls that go perfectly with their cheeky lyrics and anything-goes attitude. Lest anyone take them too seriously, SWMRS is always quick to remind audiences that they're just out for a good time, smiling big and cracking jokes between compact punk nuggets like "Miley" (an irreverent ode to "punk rock queen" Miley Cyrus) and "Uncool" (a tribute to anyone shunned by the cool kids). It's seriously fun music, and ticket buyers have no trouble taking the plunge anytime SWMRS invites them along for their rollicking punk rock shenanigans.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

SWMRS began in 2004 as Emily's Army, an Oakland-based band formed by singer/guitarist Cole Becker and drummer Joey Armstrong (son of Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong). The group uploaded their demos to Myspace in 2008, and in 2010 they entered the studio to record their debut album with Billie Joe Armstrong as producer. The album, Don't Be a Dick, dropped in 2011 on Adeline Records and received comparisons to Green Day for its accessible blend of punk edge and pop hooks. After several tours including a stint on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour, the band returned to the studio with Billie Joe Armstrong to record their sophomore album, 2013's Lost at Seventeen. Following another round of touring, the band released the 2014 EP Swim and changed their name to Swimmers, which they streamlined to SWMRS for the 2015 release of the EP Miley/Uncool. Their third LP, 2016's Drive North, was recorded with producer Zac Carper, with stellar results—the album features the band's best work to date, and fans can't wait to hear the new tunes in concert

    Best Night of My Life!!

by meredith on 4/8/19The Masquerade - Atlanta

This was the best concert I have ever been to. Their openers Destroy Boys and Beach Goons got the crowd pumped up and ready for Swmrs. Their stage presence was amazing and made all of us feel comfortable and like a community. Meeting the band was amazing! All the band members were so nice and welcoming. Seb, the bass player, even made an effort to talk to us waiting in line before the doors opened and while we were waiting to meet Cole, he came and talked to us. SWMRS is a band I will definitely see again and I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. Even the people in the crowd were nice and comforting.

Best. Concert. Ever!!! Seriously. The venue was perfect and the band had so much energy (especially Cole). I flew out to see them and I have no regrets at all. If you have the chance to see SWMRS then definitely do it. They’ve been my faves for a long long time and they made my night one to remember

    Amazing show!!

    by M. R. on 4/7/19The Masquerade - Atlanta

Swmrs put on an amazing show!! Opening acts Beach Goons and Destroy Boys had everyone dancing and the safest mosh pit I've ever seen. If the tour comes near you....GO SEE THEM! You won't be disappointed! The staff at The Masquerade are top notch. Everyone felt safe and had a great time.

    Good but inconvenient

by Dylan on 4/7/19The Masquerade - Atlanta

The experience as a whole was good and my only complaint doesn’t have to do with SWMRS, but it has to do with one of the opening acts. My sister and I have loved The Regrettes for a while and we were very excited to see them at the SWMRS show. I bought her the tickets for her birthday (which was in January) and ever since we have been counting down the days to the show. It wasn’t until a third of the way through one of the opening bands we were informed The Regrettes wouldn’t be performing. After looking on their Instagram, we saw a post stating they wouldn’t be continuing the tour. Though I could have looked on their Instagram and avoided my sister’s disappointment, I did not and I feel as a costumer an email should have been sent to inform those who had purchased tickets. Other than that, the bands gave great energy and the show was a good time.

    Lame

by M. M. on 4/1/19Vinyl at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Lame show targeted at lame teenagers who have no clue what rebellion means. Bummer for the kids.

    Incredible experience!!

by BloogahWhale on 3/3/16Masquerade - Atlanta

This was the first mosh pit concert I'd ever been to but the band was incredible and unforgettable. The lead singer stayed back at the end and talked to fans, took pictures. The rest of the band came off stage and hung out with the crowd, even moshed with us during the opening acts!!! if you're not into mosh pits, don't let that discourage you- just go with the flow and enjoy yourself!! you won't regret going to this concert.

The show was fantastic. The Frights are delightful, SWMRS are delightful. So much energy, so much fun. And cheap as hell. Definitely worth it.

    SWMRS were fantabulous

by FugaziTactics on 3/2/16Masquerade - Atlanta

I have been listening to punk since the 80's. I took my daughter to this show and instantly became a fan of all three bands that played. The energy was amazing. Nice to hear REAL punk while living in the South! Hope they come to Birmingham, AL. We drove all the way to see them. Well worth it. Punk is not dead anymore.
