    Just excellent

by Maven on 10/14/23Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Great writing, superb casting and acting. This play about loss, human kindness and climate dread is touching and engaging. The title made me think I was in for a political drama, but the "state"was more about mind and times, and the "swing"was more about change. If you like serious theater, don't miss this one

I’ve been going to theater for 60 years.

by The acting was superb. The subject is hard and it’s a challenge to have all actors be strong in character development. They achieved it. I’m a seasoned theater goer. on 10/13/23Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

I was impressed with the play and the acting and how difficult themes were handled. Kudos to a strong play and outstanding acting.

    A wonderful play!

This play is well written, acted and a wonderful way to spend an evening. The Minetta theater is a great venue where there are no bad seats. I highly recommend.

I thought I was at wrong play

by RobinL on 9/28/23Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Right from the start, I thought I was at wrong play. Though the acting was excellent, especially , the lead, the play had nothing to do with the title "Swing State"at all. Swing State implies politics but it was about a swinging state of mind (is that even a thing?). The mailer I received was a photo of land, so one would assume Swing State was about politics in a State. Completely misleading! It was sad and dark with some violence and no politics. Very disappointing. Terrible marketing!

    Where is Ida Lupino?

by Xris on 9/24/23Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

A play that is so old-fashioned that I expected Ida Lupino to show up. Well-constructed and well-acted, but a not very innovative social drama. So realistic in style, the only thing missing was the smell zucchini bread baking.

    Well-crafted drama

    by azo on 9/18/23

Enjoyed every moment of this 1:45 drama. The cast is honed and facile. The words and story arch are well-crafted and both poignant and sad. Even the detail of the set and worthy of a note. Definitely worth the trip downtown to see this excellent show.

    Truly amazing!

by Nick on 9/17/23Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Honestly might be the most moved I’ve been after and Broadway preposition. The cast was incredible and the story felt so normal to the point where it was so easy to have it happen to people you know. An emotional rollercoaster and I loved every minute of it.

    See Swing State

by Brooklyn theater goer on 9/15/23Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Swing State is a strong production of a good play. Terrific ensemble acting and strong narrative. Packed with ideas and a lot to think about days after seeing this play. Glad we saw this production (although some of the plot toward the end didn’t seem realistic to us…but still, we are glad we saw it)

    Powerful and surprising

by D. Levi on 9/14/23Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Rebecca Gilman's play is clearly in Pulitzer Prize territory. A sometimes emotionally brutal tale of grief and misunderstandings. She has that rare gift of giving even her sometimes hateful characters heart and a damaged emotional depth. Beautifully directed by Robert Falls and acted by a glorious ensemble. This is sure to be oneof the dramatic highlights of the theatrical year.
