About

Everyone remembers the moment when they first watched that viral video of Susan Boyle’s live performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” (from the Broadway musical Les Miserables) on the U.K.’s televised talent show, “Britain’s Got Talent.” One minute she was your average church choir member from Scotland, and the next she was an international superstar, being touted as possessing the “voice of an angel.” Now, audiences around the globe are clamoring for tickets to watch Susan perform gorgeous renditions of such timeless classics as “Wild Horses,” “Memory,” “You’ll See” and “Cry Me A River” LIVE in concert. Susan has also been praised by the likes Cameron Mackintosh (producer of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon) who calls her singing “heart-touching, thrilling and uplifting” and legendary Broadway actress and singer Elaine Paige who has called her “a role model for everyone who has a dream.” Susan Boyle is especially admired by fans of other golden-voiced artists like Andrea Bocelli, Charlotte Church and Hayley Westenra.

    Susan Boyle was awesome

by Besafe70 on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

It was everything I could have wanted. She is a very gentle lady. Was concerned for her because she had a sore throat and it was the very first night of her tour which was enough pressure in it self. She was such a trooper and was making jokes when notes just wouldn't come out. She is one of god's gifted people.

    Susan Boyle

by Anonymous on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Susan had throat problems, the concert went on. A few moments were quite good, more others painful. Unfortunately her speaking brogue was sometimes not understandable. I like her on her CD's, will buy the next. Overall a major disappointment. Voice problems are voice problems. Had really looked forward to this. "A" for effort and perseverance.

    Heavenly Voice - Susan Boyle

by EmmyAndOscar on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Susan Boyle performed her first American Concert at the Balboa Theatre on Wednesday night. Her voice was straight from heaven even though she woke up in San Diego that morning with a scratchy throat. There were more standing ovations for Susan than we had seen ever before and we were honored to be among the first American audience to hear her sing in person. She had a student choir behind her for several songs and change into three beautiful gowns. We wish her success on this American tour and are anxious to have her back in San Diego to see her agian. Wonderful! Wonderful!

    One of a kind!

by CiaoEddie on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

We were thrilled to watch Susan in her very first American concert. Despite being ill, she kept going without hesitation. The many songs and 2+ hours just flew by. She had several standing ovations. We travelled from out of town to see her and would definitely do it again!

    Susan Boyles FIRST American Concert

by Beancounter850 on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Susan was every bit as great as we hoped. The poor lady had a sore throat and struggled with several of her famous "power notes" but she was wonderful. The audience was with her and the reaction was wonderful to hear. She gave a great performance!!!

    Susan Boyle was "bloody Fantastic"!!

by tigertoo on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

What a gift is our super-star, Susan Boyle. I have watched her on TV and YouTube since day one. I have joined her fan clubs online and have enjoyed every minute of her fantastic journey. This is the first time I have seen her live and what a beautiful theatre to find her there. The choice in venue was matchless.

She dreamed a dream and it happened

by SBfan101 on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

She may not have been at her best because of a cold & sore throat, but that didn't stop her from delivering one hell of a performance. The shy little Scottish girl (girl?, she's now in her 50's) showed us exactly why we all fell in love with her when Simon, Amanda & Piers all gave her 3 yeses. She has matured professionally and now seems very comfortable in front of large audiences. Basically, the concert was one Scottish lass having a 2-1/2 hour affair with an adoring 1400+ member audience. And yes, she was on stage almost the entire time except for brief exits for dress changes.

    susan boyle sore throat

by ohdear2 on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

I love Susan's voice but I was disappointed she could not reach the depth and fullness of her notes due to the sore throat. Often you could hear the strain as she was trying very hard. Wish she would repeat the performance with a good voice. Coming to very dry California she need to gargle those vocal chords with a good cold pressed oil.

    Susan is Amazing!

by carolinafan62 on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

Despite not being in top singing form due to a sore throat, Susan had the audience eating out of her hands with her good humor, professionalism and stage presence. She sang 23 songs and knocked many of them out of the park, including Cry Me a River, The Way We Were, That Old Devil Called Love, and many more. With Lance Ellington joining her on stage for This is the Moment and River Deep, Mountain High, everyone had a rollicking good time!

Talented, funny down to earth lady. The audience loved her before she even started singing.

    Great show

by DougM456 on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

I was kind of expecting canned music for her vocals. Was pleasantly surprised when the curtains opened to see a full rhythm secton, 3 violins and two vocalists :-) Great show, great performance in spite of her sore throat. Susan is a real trooper.

    Susan Boyle - Delightful Evening

by SleepMonster on 10/11/14Balboa Theatre - San Diego

We enjoyed the Susan Boyle program very much. Susan advised the audience that she had woken up with a sore throat so she had to struggle with some of the high notes. Even so, the program was very enjoyable and the packed house was very appreciative. The staging/accompaniment of the program did not have any of the glitz of a Las Vegas headliner show. But, this made no difference to the audience who were only interested in hearing Susan sing. Susan, the proverbial underdog, has triumphed despite great adversity. Everyone admires her so much and wishes her the very best.
