About

She was a girl from Boston with a voice from heaven, who shot through the stars from gospel choir to dance floor diva. But what the world didn’t know was how Donna Summer risked it all to break through barriers, becoming the icon of an era, and the supreme queen for every diva who followed. With a score featuring more than 20 of Summer’s classic hits including “Love to Love You, Baby;” “Bad Girls” and “Hot Stuff,” this electric experience is a moving tribute to the voice of a generation.

    Good Musical

by AKA1994 on 11/3/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Overall, the play was good. The music brought back memories and loved Last Dance. However, the story line was a bit confusing. The actors played several roles and it got confusing at times to understand their specific role during that scene. The music was too loud for the venue. Our seats were good. We were in the mezzanine level in row G and could still see good. The play lasted about 2 hours and there was no intermission which was not good. Lastly, the line to get into the theatre moved very slow and could t not understand why that was the case. Plus, the show started a few minutes late and there was no reason given for the delay. If it supposed to start at 2:00 pm, it should have started at that time.

    Summer Fun in the Fall

by JoeyDee63 on 10/31/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

I was surprised how much I enjoyed the Donna Summer’s musical. It was fast paced, filled with music from her entire career and, most importantly, sung by three very talented ladies who portray her at different stages of her life. I was particularly impressed with the actress who represented the mature Donns, she had an amazing voice. It’s 90 minutes of fun and not meant to be a serious or deep look at this iconic performer’s life. Go see it.

    Great singing; Storyline lacked

by MPSF123 on 10/30/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

There have too many musicals of singers lately and this was one of them. Difficult to create an entire musical around jus the songs. The performers were wonderful as expected but I'd forego paying Broadway prices and see another show while in town.

Songs great but show missing something

by Edquack on 10/30/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Love Donna Summer and was really looking forward to the show. The singers and songs were fantastic but felt there was something missing from the show. May have just been better to go with a tribute concert. One factor that didn’t help us there was no interval so people were getting up during the show for the rest room which was a nuisance. Did I enjoy it yes, could it have been better yes.

    Wow Great Energy!!!

by CarmineLouis on 10/27/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

I didn't think this would be a good play but I was wrong it is a GREAT play! Knowing Donna Summer's music is one thing but the portrayal of her life, loves and music was fantastic. The interplay of felamle to male roles was excellent. Kudos to AARP for the meet and greet talk with the actors. Love seeing and sitting with them discussing the play. WANT A GREAT PLAY IT'S HOT STUFF SUMMER!!!!

    A NYC Party

by Tobuch on 10/24/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

From beginning to end, this show was captivating and filled with high energy and excitement. We did not get to see LaChanze, but the understudy was enthusiastic and performed her heart out. The other two "Donnas" were also high energy and talented. Loved Donna Summer and love her tribute show.

    GREAT MUSIC! DISAPPOINTING STORY!

by sixbells21 on 10/23/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

My wife and I grew up in the Donna Summer Era! We try to get to at least two Broadway Shows a year. The Donna Summer music and cast performing this music were Excellent! The show itself left a lot to be desired in the life of Donna Summer! More emphasis should have been put on her life story and struggles, especially during the low points in her career. We recently saw "Beautiful" the Carole King Story. Beautiful music and excellent portrayal of her life's ups and downs! Also, their should have been an intermission! The era of Donna Summers lends to now older people, which tends to have a problem sitting for almost 2 hours! Cast was excellent! Songs were spectacular!

    Great music, vocals, and cast!

by WMich2 on 10/23/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Always liked Donna Summer - and appreciated her story. Not sure how much of the story line is truly accurate (Dim All the Lights was originally written, by Donna for Rod Stewart and no mention of that . . . and I am not certain it was only one regrettable comment made at a concert in Cleveland, OH that put distance between Donna and the gay community . . . ) - that aside we would definitely see it again. All three women that play Donna are truly gifted and amazing vocalists and performers.

Summer; a musical for all seasons

by MAROSE on 10/21/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Had little expectation that this would be anything more than an alternative vehicle to present her songs which I loved. This production is amazing. Set design, costume and outrageous talent transforms this musical to something more; like Donna Summer was something more than the “Disco Queen”

    A little disappointed

by janine14 on 10/21/18Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

It was good and I would recommend it but I was a little disappointed. It wasn’t as good as Beautiful or Get on your Feet.
