About

On Reside, their fourth LP, SUMMER SALT continue the push and pull between where they've been and where they're going, honoring the sun-soaked charm that won them their devoted fanbase while exploring new creative terrain.

While the 13-track Reside carries the same effortlessly beautiful melodies, delicate introspection and hazy instrumentation that have colored albums like 2021's Sequoia Moon and 2023's Campanita, the process of constructing the songs was quite literally flipped on its head this time around, with drummer/multi-instrumentalist Eugene Chung handling the bulk of the songwriting duties, later leaning on his bandmates (frontman Matthew Terry and multi-instrumentalists Winston Triolo and Anthony Barnett) to bring his ideas to life.

The result is an album that carries Summer Salt's hallmark aesthetic, a swirl of surf pop, bossa nova and retro indie that evokes long coastal drives and the slow exposure of Polaroid photos on scorching summer afternoons while offering new emotional textures and lyrical depth. Even after its final notes fade, Reside lingers, the sort of feelings that stick with you after the sun has set, the summer has slipped away, and the golden haze of memory begins to clear. In those quiet, reflective moments, Summer Salt's music hums: familiar and full of feeling. It's a gentle reminder of the past and a nudge toward the future, but also the stillness of the now. You'll get where you're going eventually. Until then, be where you are.

Just as relaxing as I feel when I listen to Summer Salt in the car! But really enjoyed the engagement with the crowd and the singers beautiful voice. The drummer was from the Bay Area like me!!

  • Great band & venue - loved it!!!

by Manibird on 7/10/23Rating: 5 out of 5

We weren’t familiar with the band Summer Salt or the venue Echo Lounge before going to the concert. Tickets were a gift from my daughter who had seen the band and knew we’d enjoy them. Summer Salt was fantastic!! Unique sound with lovely melodies and vocals. My new favorite band! We absolutely loved their music and the venue was excellent; swanky, clean, comfortable with helpful, friendly staff. We had a great time!

This was an amazing concert!! Everyone was sharing the same vibe and the music was great! It had a light summer vibe and everyone sang amazingly!! We even got to meet the boys of The Rare Occasions! This was summer salts homecoming show in Dallas and it was nothing but fun! 10/10 would recommend!!

  • Had a great time.

by Atti on 7/10/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Wasn’t super familiar with any of the artists in the line up but despite my unfamiliarity with the bands I really enjoyed myself. Super friendly atmosphere and great stage presence. If I had the opportunity i’d definitely see them again :)

  • Immaculate vibes

Summer Salt is an amazing live band. They brought great energy and sound. You could feel the passion they have for their music. The venue was perfect for their concert because it was intimate and that made the performance more enjoyable to watch

  • Great Show!!!!

    by T on 6/13/23The Foundry - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Summer Salt was AMAZING. The only thing that could have been improved was how hot the venue was. They did give out water, which helped a lot. It was extremely hot to were guests were feeling faint. Summer Salt is amazing live. They know how to connect to the audience and put on a great show! Will definitely see them again.

  • Summer Feels on a Snowy Day

by Ste F on 3/15/22H-MAC Stage on Herr - HarrisburgRating: 5 out of 5

This show was performed the day after their Juniper Songbook was released - and the universe made the day perfect for it! A super cold, snowy day was an excellent backdrop for the reimagined "juniper" (read: winter) vibes of classic Summer Salt anthems. The venue was a great space for an intimate experience to be shared; hidden away in the back of an old building - a black box theatre with excellent bartenders!

  • No experience to share

The details for the regulations on what to bring and COVID was no where to be found and they didn’t let us in with what we had so I never got to go

  • Summer Salt far exceeded my expectations!

by Eddie on 9/29/21Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The Paradise is an intimate venue, perfect for its fidelity and closeness to the stage. But what was most impressive was the raw talent exuding by Summer Salt and their members. Their song list was spot-on, not disappointing anyone. "Candy Wrappers" brought the house down, while newest favorites "Hocus Pocus" and "Clover" were stunners as well. Singer/guitarist Matthew Terry's velvety, rich, dreamy vocal is unique and definitely an essential key to the bands rapid success. Drummer Eugene Chung is entertaining, sounds punchy, and has boundless energy. I don't know who the bass player and other guitarist were, but they were fabulous, tightly in synch with Matthew and George. I love this band! Eddie

  • Increidble

What a fantastic show. Summer Salt is one of my favorite bands of all time so I had high expectations for their live show. They fulfilled. If you are a fan, or even if you just like a song or two, you gotta get out and see them live.

  • Philly Summer Salt

by rosalina on 9/28/21The Foundry - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

It was at a very cute place called the Fillmore and smaller but amazing to stand and have a concert in, parking was easy, the bar was great and they performed amazing! I think they are so much better to see in person and if you listen to their songs, in person they make it more lively and fun

  • THE TALENT !!!

Such an intimate, fun, vibey show. Can’t wait for more :))

  • Great, Relatable Bands

    by B. on 2/25/20Chameleon Club - LancasterRating: 5 out of 5

I surprised my teens and two of their friends with tickets to this, their first all-ages show and they LOVED it. Drove there and parked with no issues, loved all three bands and even got to hang with them after the show. Super great, chill music, no issues and making memories with awesome bands that they've been listening to every day for two years ... who could ask for anything more.

  • Fun show with a great energy:)

by Mrssketchbailey on 8/1/19The Shelter - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

All three bands were great. The energy was good. The crowd was into it. The merch guy Ben was very friendly! It was very cool for my daughter to buy all three band vinyls and get them autographed. The venue staff was pleasant. It was a great night.

Great show, great openers, awesome encore. The shelter is my favorite venue and have been wanting to see Summer Salt for a while now. Worked out great.

  • Summer Salt

by Anonymous on 8/4/18The Funhouse at Mr. Smalls - MillvaleRating: 5 out of 5

The Summer Salt concert was absolutely fantastic. They were great live, as they were when I saw them previously, and they sang for us a couple new songs on the way as well. The other bands, The Symposium and Hot Flash Heat Wave were both amazing as well! Everyone performed well and were all really fun and nice, they all hung out with us in the audience when Summer Salt came on. The venue itself was small and a bit crowded being sold out, but not too tight. They had really nice lighting and a great stage setup. The last concert I went to would often turn the lights directly into the audience and it would just make it hard to see. My only real complaint is that we could’ve used some air conditioning, but even then it wasn’t too bad. Overall, I would %100 recommend seeing Summer Salt at any venue, but Mr. Smalls Funhouse was definitely a nice place.
