Wow! So much better in person than on CD! Keep on rockin' me baby!
Everything was perfect except the weather didn't cooperate like we would have liked.
Besides the fact that it down poured on us since we had bought lawn tickets it was still a really good time. I will definitely attend the next Steve Miller Band concert when they come back to Detroit!
Disappointing. Way too much of a guy who was singing with/for Steve and not enough Steve! We paid to see/hear Steve Miller play - not this guy. And it was raining and the set list was not great. Thus people left very early. I think that is the last Steve Miller concert I'll buy tickets for.
Steve Miller and his band were spectacular last night. I especially liked his new version of Fly Like an Eagle which ended with Nature Boy - it was excellent. His guitar playing along with his powerful voice made for one memorable night. I was expecting to hear more blues but I was not disappointed in what he performed. If you get a chance to see him - take my advice and buy your tickets today. You will not be sorry!
Fantastic show! I would recommended it everyone.....
Steve Miller was great. All the old songs you expect plus new ones off Bingo, which were also very good. Always one of the best shows of the summer. I really enjoyed Peter Frampton too.
both miller and frampton can still get it done at 60 plus years of age
Peter Frampton came out with amazing energy and witty jokes. He rocked the stage. Despite not having much hair, he sounded amazing and still played as great as ever. Steve Miller, however, stood in one spot for most of his performance. He played a lot of new stuff, which sounded way too country. His performance was not as grand as Frampton's. When I think of a good concert, I believe that you need more than just music, but jokes and a connection with the crowd, which I didn't see from Miller.
WOW...an amazing evening which BOTH Acts did a fantastic job relating to the audience and also interacting with their music and guitars. The show was about 4 hours long with only a short 20 minute break for the stage switch. Both bands played their Classics as well as numbers from their new albums. I was surprised at the LIVE sound from both bands as the quality was "just like the Album". I would highly recommend the bands as they are STILL Class Acts.
I've seen Steve Miller Band multiple times and am a huge fan. Previous shows were awesome, but I was disappointed this time around....
I like both Frampton and Steve Miller; but Frampton really impressed me with his musical ability. He did an awesome tribute to Chris Cornell of Soundgarden with "Black Hole Sun". I love Frampton's old live recordings - and he's just as good now in person. Who cares how much hair he has or how long it is??? Frampton rocks! - and Steve Miller wasn't bad either.
I have been to many concerts and this was one of the best! The venue was great, great acoustics, great seating, easy in and out, and Steve Miller and Peter Frampton definitely delivered! it was a real bonus to see Steve Miller and Peter Frampton playing on stage together! I was definitely glad I bought Steve Miller's new CD, Bingo, and listened to it before the concert, it helped to recognize and appreciate those songs, and he did a great job of covering many of his old songs too. And Steve Miller's new backup singer is fun to watch, not only is he an excellent singer, but he definitely has some moves, too.
All Frampton wanted to do was talk it seemed, and he played stuff we had never heard before. For his encore, one of the songs he played was a Beatles tune. Steve Miller started out with two of his songs then had Frampton come out and play a few songs that sucked, then had one of his backup singers do about five or six songs that sucked! He ended with his classics and the encore was good. This is the first time I have ever seen the people on the hills sit through 75% of the night! At least the beer was cold!
Pine Knob rocked tonight like it did back in the 70's and 80's with everyone from the pravillion to those with lawn seating on the hill standing, dancing, singing and rocking the night away. If I had sum up the show in one word? WOW!!!! The Steve Miller band was awesome. Stage setting with all of the guitars was spectacularto look at.
VERY GOOD CONCERT.I ESPECIALLY LIKED WHEN PETER FRAMPTON JOINED STEVE MILLER FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR.THEY SEEMED TO GELL REALLY WELL.
Peter Frampton was fantastic! My favorite was Vaudeville Nanna and the banjolele.I loved it when he came out with Steve Miller,it made me stay, because I went to see Peter, not him.
This concert was awesome. Nothing like good ole American rock and roll! They sounded great...just like their album!
They only get better with age. Their Three song jam session at the beginning of Steve's set was amazing. Keep it up boys!!!!!!!
A great show and night at PINE KNOB ( as Steve still calls it). The weather was perfect and so was Steve. I've seen him alot since 1972. Not every show was perfect but this one was. Steve seems re-energized with the new CD out. The crowd loved the new stuff along of course with the old. We miss of course NB but, the new guy filled in really well, the guy can sing and dance. Steve always has a great attitude with the Detroit crowd and tonight was no different. He's the kind of guy that you know you can hang out with. Peter Frampton was also amazing. He sounds just like he did in the 70's. I didn't know what to expect because it had been awhile since I saw him but, I was very pleased with his show. When Steve called him out to play some songs with him, that to me was the highlight. How often do you get to see two great guitar legends on stage jamming at once???I hope everyone at the show appreciated that, we're not getting any younger ya know, that was for me a great moment. Plus that kid that played with Steve...he was outstanding. I'm trying to learn guitar at 54 and I think seeing him play at what 12 or 13 sends me back to the drawing board on my guitar carreer. As my wife said on Facebook last night, I had a great night with 4 great guys, my husband drove, Toby Keith gave me dinner, and Steve and Peter sang to me all night. It was a perfect summer night at Pine Knob.
