About

Stephen "Ragga" Marley is an eight-time Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer. Mentored by his late father Bob Marley, the second eldest Marley son began performing at seven years old as a member of the sibling band Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. In 2007, Marley released his first solo album, Mind Control, which won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. The album spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, and his four follow-ups, Mind Control Acoustic (2008), Revelation Part I: The Root of Life (2011) and Revelation Part II: The Fruit of Life (2016), similarly topped the chart. Stephen released his first full-length album in more than seven years, Old Soul, in 2023. As a producer, Stephen Marley has won two Grammys for his contributions on brother Damian Marley’s breakthrough albums, Halfway Tree (2001) and Welcome to Jamrock (2005), and collaborated with artists such as Fugees, Pitbull, Erykah Badu and more.

    Stephen Marley, Incredible As Always...

by InkSlinga on 6/20/11Showbox Market - Seattle

In tha Marley family, tha apples dont fall far from tha tree!!! I have seen almost all of tha Marley boys in concert, and they ALL carry Bob's magic inside of them!! Stephen and Damian being my favorites... not just reggae music, but two of my favorite artists period. Stephen illuminates tha stage with his pure energy and his smiling eyes. Tha band is very tight and well rehearsed, and i just love tha back-up singers. Especially how they dance their way on and off tha stage, and during tha entire performance. Awesome show with outstanding music for tha soul!! Well worth any ticket price, and i will be at ANY Marley family concert. Tha only disappointment was that tha Ghetto Youths Crew did not open tha show for some reason... It was Christopher Ellis, which i didnt really care for... Spragga Benz, on tha other hand was very entertaining and enjoyable...

    Stephen Marley

by kat123456 on 6/12/11Poolside At The Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas - Las Vegas

The concert was good, of course. Only problem was the line was crazy long to get in, which is understandable but then I didn't see why it was so backed up when I actually got in because it didn't seem like there was that many people outside to stop up a line so much. Also, it was kind of hard to see the stage if you weren't right there. Overall, the show was fun!

Self Indulgent DJs, Not Enough Ragamuffin

by Easyskankin on 4/8/11Showcase Live - Foxboro

Dragged my wife out on a Tuesday night despite us both having to work the next morning. Showtime was advertised for 9pm with the dream team of Barrington Levy and Stephen Marley headlining. What we got was 2 hours plus of self indulgent Hot97 dj's and the king of 'em all VOG stroking his sizeable ego. VOG deserves props for what he's done for the dancehall scene, but this show should have been about the music and the artists - that's what we paid for. Instead we got a half hour of the legend Barrington Levy and 45 minutes of Steve Marley sans band, but backed by Hot97 dj's. Barrington didn't come on until after 11pm and Marley not until well after midnight. This show could have and should have been incredible. Instead what we got was a Hot97 dj stroke-fest.

    very disappointed

by Anonymous on 4/7/11Showcase Live - Foxboro

i was not lead to understand there would be 5-7 DJs and no live music until the last 75 minutes of the show. The DJs were okay, but I wanted live music.

Too late for a work night. Too many D.J.s, not enough concert. Very disappointed that Barrington Levi only played 4 songs. The venue was much too crowded.

Stephen should have had more stage time!

    by phisher76 on 4/7/11Showcase Live - Foxboro

Stephen was pretty good, but he seemed rushed. To many DJ's compared to what was advertised. Ads made it seem like Stephen Marley was going to be a big part of the show, but that was just not the case. Would like to Stephen Marley at a different venue in the future. Some of the DJ's were really good, VOG and Jkool weren't as good though. VOG talks way too much and you can't even really understand what he was saying. He ruined it for me during that part of the show.

    Left me wanting more

    by bb12345 on 4/7/11Showcase Live - Foxboro

Barrignton and Marley were great, but I wish they were on longer. I basically paid to see hot 97 djs for four hours and the artists for one. Don't get me wrong the Djs were talented but I would've passed if I had known the performances were only a small portion of the show.

This event was Awful! They said doors open at 8 and show begins at 9 on the ticket, so we arrived a little after nine worried we were missing something. Then some poor deejays from Hot97 proceeded to play blips of music and yell and take pictures for the following 3 hours. Stephen Marley finally came out at 12:30am played/talked for a half hour (never did he actually really perform one song wholeheartedly) and then it was over as quickly as it began. He played for a total of a half hour. It was a terrible show and I'm sorry we wasted our money on it! We took some friends as a gift and what a poor gift it was!

    HORRIBLE EVENT!!

    by Umaz1 on 4/7/11Showcase Live - Foxboro

This was the worst music event that I have ever attended.... I understand that it was the 7th Anniversary of the station's Dancehall but come on now...doors opened at 8pm and show time was supposed to be at 9pm...By the time 11:30pm rolled around and 5 DJs later who played only 30 second clips of songs and told people to put their hands up for every conceivable reason on this earth...STILL NO LIVE MUSIC!!! We left the event at 11:30pm in pure disgust and we heard from another dissatisfied patron that Barrington Levy came on at 11:50pm played until 12:08am and then Stephen Marley came on at 12:30am and played until just before 1am.... Sorry when I pay money to hear live music I don't want to hear a bunch of DJ's that get paid to do that on the radio. I would have had a better time if i was at home in my pajamas listening to the radio and saved my money. Don't think I will ever go to another Hot 97 event and it is a shame because I really do love reggae music....

    Reggae great...length/timing weak

by JahRastafariG on 4/7/11Showcase Live - Foxboro

Barrington and Stephen were fantastic as always, but as usual the multiple artist approach led them to do very small sets. My expectation was a late start, as always with reggae shows, 11:30PM with a 1AM limit for any live artist to play on $30 tickets midweek is asking too much from working fans. Hope they continue to tour the area and Live books reggae artists, but please mandate something in the contract that they play certian minimums.

Barrington Levy was the only good performer

by IrieVibes on 4/6/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Show started 2 hours late, which ended up being 1 am. Richie Spice lacked so much energy on stage. I was pretty upset with his performance and I was looking forward to it. He looked like a complete zombie who didn't care one bit about being there. Barrington Levy I knew was going to be good so that was guaranteed. Stephen Marley was another upsetting performance. He let the crowd sing all the songs for him, and most of them weren't even his. Maybe if they had a band with them on stage it would have helped a little bit more. I saw Anthony B at B. B. King and it was just him and a smaller crowd, and he rocked that place with a groovin' high energy band.

    false advertising

by WaBBaFoo on 4/5/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

This was billed as an event with Stephen Marley and Barrington Levy. I left around 1am and had not seen either of them. The DJ that started the event was decent, the second one (DJ Norie?) started spinning the most horrendous 80's pop and killed my vibe completely.

virtually a waste of 3.5 hrs

by unhappyal on 4/4/11Water Street Music Hall - Rochester

I was very disappointed with my experience this past Saturday. I arrived at 10:20 pm for a 10 pm show and stood around for 2 hrs, listening to a number of dj's spinning 15-30 second reggae clips, punctuated by inane gun shot, truck horns and other sounds. It was boring and annoying. At 12:15 pm, Barrington Levy, who I have seen before came on and did an interesting half hour of reggae rhymes. Then, at 12: 45 pm Stephen was introduced, came on, did his thing for 20 minutes and disappeared!!!!!! I assume that he returned to the stage, I have no idea for how long as when it got to be 1:35 pm and he had not returned to the stage, I was done and left the show. I spent $40 for a ticket and $10 for parking for 20 minutes of Stephen Marley....I feel that I was cheated.
