2nd time wife and saw the show in Chicago, went last year and there were 3 gospel singers taking turns singing beautiful music for 20 minutes and the a 15 minute set of kinda funny guy a 10 min break and show was all three were sitting on stools talking off one another and it was hilarious! So this time we figured we could 20 min late and miss the warmup, WRONG, we missed 3/4 of John and walked in on his angel raping joke. He was great! Then Hal and he was great! John refers tto his notes, Hal is impersonating a trex hunting a jew and a Palestinian hiding in a cave sharing hummus and chitting their pants, hilarious! best part of the show. Then Steph comes out, recognizes people in the audience only regular listeners would think is funny for 10 minutes, reads out of trib article about GOP, takes pics of her crotch, reads off a spiral notebook, giggling at her own jokes. The worst part was literally 20 min of open mic for folks to ask a dumb question. Bad for our guests who dont watch the show, no context not funny. We left early just as they were returning to take the 3 stools. I couldn't take one more question from the audience. Everyone around me was squirming the non screened questions to end. We thought it was going to be 4 or five questions, I lost count. I wish we could have seen the final act, I'm sure that was great. I think Hal and John carried the show, skip the 20 questions and make humor that doesnt require you to be a regular listener to think it was funny. This coming from a regular listener who knows what a mook is when she refers to replacing her mooks with the ones in the audience that came up with better material than she had. Those were Steph words not mine in show last night. The humor on the radio is the interplay
April 2013 will be our 3rd visit to Sexy Liberal Comedy Show in Chicago. Stephanie is hilarious and genuine. Fugelsang is truly a master and Sparks is perpetual entertainment and high energy. I leave the show with my sides hurting from laughing so hard. Seeing the trio in person is amazing after listening to them on radio all year long.
Vulgar hate fest. This is the worst show I have ever seen. It's one thing to parody conservatives and the former President Bush. It's entirely different hoping that they die. If this is comedy, our nation is in trouble. I could have endured this show if there was humor involved, all I felt was hate. Too bad I couldn't rate this trash as a ZERO. That would still have been too high a rating.
Not even funny , all she and the warmup did were diss republican voters/candidates the whole evening. that got really boring and old after 5 minutes. Both warm up people AND Stephanie used the same material !
The low point for me was when Stephanie and Hal demonstrated tea bagging on stage, and she put someone's phone down her pants. I'm a hardcore liberal and I am embarrassed by this show. I still love Stephanie, but I prefer the censored program on Current. We had VIP tickets and didn't bother to stay for the meet and greet.
The two male comedians presented polished acts. Miller was...Tired? Drunk? Had an unpolished act? ...in L.A in July. The promoters said it was sold-out, but there were dozens of seats left. The music was too LOUD, and they started 15 minutes late. Sadly...not worth seeing.
The guys were GREAT!!! I think that Stephanie was too drunk to be funny in Chicago. She was disorganized and her timing was way off. The show also needed a stage director. The band had three great women vocalists two of whom sang before and one after, but they sat directly behind the show the entire time. I would recommend it at the $20 rush price.
I love the radio show but I wasn't sure what to expect from the comedy show. I'm so glad I went. It was a wonderful night of laughs and great entertainment. You left feeling good.
If you're a fan of Stephanie's show don't miss the Sexy Liberal Tour!! We laughed till our sides hurt (and they're still sore today!). Thanks guys for such a great show!!!!
The show in Durham was so refreshing. I laughed my *** off. Stephanie, John and Hal are a fantastic trio that are informed and funny entertainers. We were able to meet Hal and Stephanie after the show. These are the kind of people I call, "Real People". The Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) was a great venue in a great city.
What an amazing evening. I wouldn't even know where to begin, from start to finish it was a great event. I actually hope that they come to another venue within driving distance so that I can see it again.
My husband and I had the best time at the DPAC last night. Three amazing comedians, who happen to be of the liberal persuasion, performed and just gave us their all. We laughed so much that our jaws hurt when the evening was over.
Went to see the show in Syracuse and wow is the only word I can think of! Not only was it one of the funniest nights of comedy I have ever seen, but it was wonderful to see politics treated in such a humorous way Stephanie is not just a radio host, but such a powerful stage presence...
