STATE CHAMPS IN CONCERT:
New York pop punkers State Champs have been rocking fans with their emotional songwriting and prize-worthy live performances since forming in 2010. They’ve toured with big names like All Time Low and 5 Seconds of Summer, and it’s easy to see why as they tear through adrenaline-filled anthems like “Remedy” and “Elevated” in concert. In addition to their hard-hitting songs, State Champs also have a softer side, and they’re just as impressive when frontman Derek DiScanio takes things down a notch to deliver tender tracks like “If I’m Lucky”. Whether they’re turning out distorted guitar feedback or waxing acoustic, State Champs always give ticket buyers a first-rate concert experience chock-full of heart-on-sleeve pop punk goodness.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
State Champs was formed in Albany, NY in 2010 by singer Derek DiScanio and guitarist Tyler Szalkowski. After assembling the rest of the band they released two EPs in late 2010/early 2011, and in 2012 they signed with California-based pop punk imprint Pure Noise Records. They made their debut on the label that same year with the 7" Overslept, which they recorded with producer Jay Maas (Defeater, Transit). After that release they began work on their full-length debut, which arrived in 2013 as the critically acclaimed effort The Finer Things. The album was a hit, peaking at No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart and leading to extensive touring alongside bands like Motion City Soundtrack, Bayside, and The Wonder Years. Following stints on the 2014 Vans Warped Tour and the Pure Noise Records Tour, State Champs returned to the studio to record their second full-length album, a highly anticipated release that their loyal fans can’t wait to experience in concert.
saw this band on accident in 2014 and they’ve been a top favorite ever since. they never fail to put on a great show. looooove them so much and can’t wait to see them again.
First time seeing live music since the pandemic began. And I missed it. It was a blast.
Great show, venue took the right precautions, they checked everyone's vaccination status or negative test pre-entry and the venue and bands were a blast as always.
I drive two hours to get to the venue, paid to park my car and was denied access despite being fully vaccinated and had my card with me. I was told I needed a negative covid test along with my vaccination card. I want my money back, I feel robbed of the almost $100 I spent
Show was a ton of fun. No crowd surfing, moshing, or any other typical punk show activities were allowed at first but as the night progressed the venue became more lenient.
We had a great time at house of blues seeing State Champs. The facility ensured we had covid testing or vaccine before we entered. The show was amazing and everything felt and looked clean.
State champs always puts on a hell of a show and it’s always a fun time everytime I see them! If you haven’t seen them on tour yet, I highly recommend it because you won’t be disappointed
All of the bands were amazing!!! Glad I was able to come to this tour, the energy and chemistry between crowd and the bands was so good! Definitely seeing them again soon.

There was a few different changes to the original show, venue change and time change. Ticketmaster was really good about notifying of that. The new venue was much better suited for this music genre. The music was obviously amazing.

State champs and four year strong was hands down the best concert ive been too. Great stage set up, great atmosphere and an amazing performance
Got turned on to this band by a friend and this was my first time seeing them. From the opening song to the final two encore tunes, State Champs had the place jumping. The crowd was really cool. Tons of crowd surfing and a mosh pit that was cool with fans having a blast the whole night. Can’t wait for the band to come back to Detroit!
i met some of my favorite band members and i had a blast with my friends. can’t wait for next year !!

Everything about this day was amazing. I was disappointed that the set times were shortened and began earlier because of the weather, however. The price of water was perfect for a hot day like we had. The bands sounded amazing as always.
MOST AMAZING DAY EVER!!! HOPE THIS HAPPENS EVERY YEAR!! THE MAINE ALWAYS PUTS ON AN AMAZING SHOW.
So much fun!!! Security was very nice and the sound was incredible. Only downside is it was 95 degrees outside and we were not allowed to bring water into the venue and had to pay $3 for a small bottle. Outside water should have been allowed in a heat advisory...
Good event,but would not attend at this venue again. Festival stated they would allow water bottles in, it was 95 degrees and venue was making everyone throw out plastic bottles, and leave any aluminum bottles outside. Rain was expected at 9pm, so they pushed the last band to 5:30PM, and made all bands cut their sets short. Very disappointing compared to what I've seen at other Sad Summer Festival locations.
