    Inspiring event

by W. on 11/7/19Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

It is an impressive amount of talent to see in an evening. But even more impressive, more moving, is hearing the stories of the brave men and women who we were there to support. They are inspiring for their dedication, strength and perseverence. They give hope.

    embarrassing!

by ITitzbaum on 11/11/18Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

I was shocked. Bob and his wife are not professional entertainers and were not amusing or interesting. Their part of the show was much too long. It would have been better to have celebrity quests say the same things. Seth Meyers, who is normally very funny when riffing on news headlines, was probably overly concerned about not offending the audience just before election day and told a story about his wife giving birth that was not at all funny. He probably thought it was safe material for a military audience. Jimmy Carr was funny. Jim Gaffigan was not. Eric Church was good, a great musician. Bruce Springsteen told some unfunny, off color stories that were embarrassing. I think he has morphed into an older fellow so revered by his audience that he has lost touch of who he is and, more importantly, what ENTERTAINMENT is. He gets away with telling random stories because he is BRUCE, but they still need to be interesting. John Stewart talks too much about the fact that he is Jewish (who cares), and curses needlessly, usually a sign of insecurity. I don't think John prepared for 5 minutes. Hubris.

Way too Short - Embarrassment - Shame On You

by Jeff2183 on 11/8/18Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

I've been to many different benefit shows over the years, and they're usually very long (3 to 4 and 1/2 hours). This benefit show was 1 hour and 45 minutes. How does an event have great comedians, such as Seth Myers, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Carr, and Jim Gaffigan all perform for 10 minutes each? And then only have Eric Church sing 3 songs? Springsteen, king of the 3 and 1/2 hour concert, only play 4 songs? I felt very cheated for $300 a ticket. I can't begin to imagine how cheated the people who paid $500, $1,000, $2,000, or $5,000 felt. Plus, the whole benefit show was an attempt to get even more money from us. You want more money, put together a 3 to 4 hour show.

Stand Up is always a great night!

by KidNurse on 11/10/17The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

Comedy, amazing auction with stunning generosity, and closing with Red Hot Chili Peppers (usually Bruce Springsteen, but he was playing on Broadway this year), all for a good cause!

Best Comedians but so-so music performance

by Jetlag4 on 11/10/17The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

This was the third time we've been to the Stand Up for Heroes show. The comedians were awesome this year - very funny, probably the best comic show we've ever seen. Bruce Springsteen wasn't there this year because of his show on Broadway. The replacement band, Red Hot Chili Peppers were a disappointment. They weren't a good fit for this type of show and hopefully Bruce will be back next year.

Amazing comedy & music, but mixed ending

by Sarahkay12 on 11/10/17The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

All of the comedians and musicians were amazing. The night is beautiful to help support vets. The only thing that soured the event was the rude auctioneer at the the end of the night. There's no issue in asking for donations, but don't individually call on people & be demeaning.

    Comedy Fest & Bruce Springsteen

by Lovey511 on 11/4/16The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

It was truly an honor and a privilege to see the servicemen and women who gave so much to defend our freedom, and now have to get better going forward in life. So to the extent that these excellent comedians and the Boss gave to us a great uproarious show, of differing comedic styles, and some lovely acoustic music, it was a wonderful night! We are gladdened by the fact of kind hearts in attendance, with tickets priced at $100-5000, to benefit this great foundation, and the incredible auction of meeting with the stars for meals, plus a guitar Bruce has used for 45 yrs, plus a custom made Harley Davidson...even though those are big ticket items. More for the high rollers...We laughed our a---es off! And though Bruce only did 4 songs, any day with him is a treasure.

by DiamondJackie on 11/4/16The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

Wonderful show once again. Great cause and touching videos to help remind us of the many challenges facing our returning Vets, their families, and their ongoing needs. The performers were awesome and amazing what laughter can do to raise one's spirits. Then there is Springsteen and the magic of his music....wonderful night In MSG.

    Stand Up For Heroes

by DanCaravan on 11/4/16The Theater at Madison Square Garden - New York

The star-studded cast all brought their A-game. The comedians were hilarious, Springsteen was in strong voice and the veterans were all effective, passionate speakers. Loved the night and I wish I had more money so I could make additional donations during the auction. A worthwhile and well-run event. Veterans, thank you for your service.
