ST. VINCENT IN CONCERT:

Possessing a rare combination of art-school appeal and mainstream accessibility, St. Vincent's Annie Clark is well on her way to full blown pop stardom. From her collaborations with David Byrne and Sufjan Stevens to her acclaimed work as St. Vincent, Clark has demonstrated an unbridled creativity and commitment to pop experimentation, making her a favorite with fans and critics alike. Her recordings may be stunning, but it's her talents as a performer that really make Clark stand out — taking the stage in an architectural gown, Clark's otherworldly movements and ethereal vocals are the stuff of legend, making her 2014 tour dates a must for any fan of true avant-pop spectacle.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Oklahoma, Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent, took up the guitar at age 12, going on to play in her high school's jazz band as a teenager. After spending three years at Boston's Berklee College of Music in the early '00s, Clark dropped out to pursue real-world musical experience, joining the Polyphonic Spree for their European tour. In 2006, she left the band to join Sufjan Steven's touring band, beginning to record as St. Vincent the same year. Her 2007 debut album  Marry Me received praise for its intricate arrangements and unexpected compositional twists, paving the way for the success of 2009 sophomore effort Actor, a Top 10 hit on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart. With the early-2014 release of her fifth album, Clark once again drew unilateral praise from critics, cracking the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 and embarking on an international headlining tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

" Even better live than on her albums, St. Vincent lit up the Fox. It was an awesome mashup reminiscent of Bowie, Mercury and Gaga. I loved it, and will be back for more."

"Gorgeous songs, surprising choreography, enchanted excitement. I urge anyone who loves sophisticated pop to see this show."

"Yes, yes, yes, and yes! Great playing, awesome sound, killer production aesthetics and an overall great SHOW. St. Vincent and her band are kicking butt and taking names."

  • SV is amazing!!!

by HoodooReview on 6/1/15The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I looked forward to this show for so long. I expected it to be great. I was completely unprepared for how good it actually was. I love her albums, but now having heard her live, I truly believe she surpasses herself in a live environment. Her guitar playing left me completely breathless... she does not approach the instrument the same way most guitarists do... she is just not playing the same game that the rest are playing. In the span of one show, she became one of my favorite guitar players.

A good 2 hours of quality entertainment. She absolutely rocks on the guitar. Well worth watching live.

  • St Vincent Amazing

by Rollumeasy on 5/30/15The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

As a veteran of many years of seeing countless artists, St Vincent brought a breadth of fresh extremely entertaining air to the concert format. Annie Clark shreds on guitar and has a most ethereal sense of song construction and stage presence. 2014’s “St. Vincent” made up the bulk of her set and the songs were played to the max potential with Annie finally collapsing to floor before the encore. Be prepared to be entertained from the opening chords -

  • st.Vincent was boring

long delay to start a show I was so bored that me and my friends left early!

  • St. Vincent @ The Upstate Concert Hall

by Ravens1993 on 3/10/15Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton ParkRating: 5 out of 5

I live in sussex county NJ, so naturally it took me a good 2 hours and 45 minutes to drive to Clifton Park and it was well worth the trip. Firstly the venue was pretty good. Very spacious up until the corner where the stage was. Security was pretty light and not snarky or anything at most they were pretty lax which was pretty decent. The opening act which was a Norwegian band of avant gardé origin was pretty interesting, but when Annie and her band came on it was stellar. The lighting was great and so was the sound. I was so happy St. Vincent played songs from her whole discography from Marry Me to last year's St. Vincent. The audience was pretty cool and I made some friends too. Most everything jived and I enjoyed the performance and if given the chance Id do it all over again.

  • St. Vincent Brightens Up Former Northern Lights

by ShowMonger698 on 3/10/15Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton ParkRating: 4 out of 5

Clifton Park's Upstate Concert Hall certainly leaves a bit to bit desired by the avid concert goer. A sloped floor would be an improvement and the fact that I was frequently unable to see the stage, may keep me from seeing future shows at this venue. However, the energetic mixture of performance art and sheer musical mastery displayed by St. Vincent on Saturday night made for a memorable experience despite the lackluster venue. The sound and light show were great, but this act needs to be seen, not just heard and I cannot wait to see them again at a better venue. Tonight would not be too soon.

Loved her! The woman is a goddess! Very personable with the audience! Her guitar skills are unmatched.

Incredible. Annie Clark's performance was so much more intense than the album.

  • St Vincent rocked !!!

by Sarse on 3/10/15Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton ParkRating: 4 out of 5

The show was incredible. St Vincent played so hard and heavy yet the Vocals were beautiful. The only negative was that being a 5 foot 2 inch tall person it was really hard to see. In the back I could catch more glimpses of the band. That's not the bands fault, just a consequence of seeing a sold out show at upstate concert hall. Overall it was amazing though

Her stage presence was amazing. Her band was awesome too!

  • St. Vincent breaks out

    by chinagirl23 on 1/1/15The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Annie Clark AKA St. Vincent put on an excellent show. She's made a transformation from a talented beauty into a punk priestess on her new album. Every track she played at this show was solid.

  • St Vincent is SO COOL!!!!

by JABOO on 12/6/14The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I first saw Annie live, with David Byrne a few years back. I've been yearning to see St. Vincent live and I was not let down. The show was a blast: sonically and also visually. I had great seats in the lodge, and could really take in the fantastic light show. I can't wait to see them again. Thank you WXRT for another fantastic Christmas Show.

  • St. Vincent is amazing!!!

by Redddmannn on 12/5/14The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to a few hundred concerts in my life and I can't recall being this excited to see a show in a long long time. She opened with Rattlesnake, which is not even one of my favorite songs, but when she strapped on her guitar and started playing, I was immediately overwhelmed with a flood of emotions that literally brought tears to my eyes. I could not believe I was witnessing such brilliance. Annie Clark is such an incredible artist and musician...she radiates such an amazing energy and light...she's in a class all by herself. St. Vincent far exceeded my expectations...and my expectations were high...they do not disappoint.

  • Go Annie

Another excellent show by the St. Vincent band. Unique and stimulating, keep rocking!

  • St. Vincent and Future Islands - I was on Cloud 9

    by Bere1979 on 12/5/14The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

If you are not a fan of Future Islands, just listen to Seasons, Spirit, Doves, Back in the Tall Grass, or any other song from their 2014 album, Singles, and you will be. St. Vincent was awesome. The right mix of voice, drama and guitar. This is a bad ass chick with a guitar, real talent, no nudity or sex required as a gimmick.

  • by ZWolf on 12/5/14The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

St. Vincent and Future Islands were electric. The sound for both bands was top-notch and the atmosphere made for a great show.

  • St. Vincent awesome; Future Islands Ok

by tatatatodayjunior on 12/5/14The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Very energetic sets from both bands. No a fan of Future Islands. Their bass lines were pretty boring and all songs have long synth chords. St. Vincent's songs are just awesome. She used a lot of spectacle and played the songs well.

  • St. Vincent is a cool performer

by Daisykin on 12/5/14The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Her moves are very interesting and for fans it's a great time! I am not a huge fan but since my significant other is, I went along with him. She really does put on a good show with her band. And she can also play the guitar like a rock star.

  • Annie is the real deal

by JoeTomato on 12/5/14The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Innovative, contemporary rock art, excellent professional musicians who presented a thought-provoking performance.
