ST. VINCENT IN CONCERT:

Possessing a rare combination of art-school appeal and mainstream accessibility, St. Vincent's Annie Clark is well on her way to full blown pop stardom. From her collaborations with David Byrne and Sufjan Stevens to her acclaimed work as St. Vincent, Clark has demonstrated an unbridled creativity and commitment to pop experimentation, making her a favorite with fans and critics alike. Her recordings may be stunning, but it's her talents as a performer that really make Clark stand out — taking the stage in an architectural gown, Clark's otherworldly movements and ethereal vocals are the stuff of legend, making her 2014 tour dates a must for any fan of true avant-pop spectacle.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Oklahoma, Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent, took up the guitar at age 12, going on to play in her high school's jazz band as a teenager. After spending three years at Boston's Berklee College of Music in the early '00s, Clark dropped out to pursue real-world musical experience, joining the Polyphonic Spree for their European tour. In 2006, she left the band to join Sufjan Steven's touring band, beginning to record as St. Vincent the same year. Her 2007 debut album  Marry Me received praise for its intricate arrangements and unexpected compositional twists, paving the way for the success of 2009 sophomore effort Actor, a Top 10 hit on Billboard's Independent Albums Chart. With the early-2014 release of her fifth album, Clark once again drew unilateral praise from critics, cracking the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 and embarking on an international headlining tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

" Even better live than on her albums, St. Vincent lit up the Fox. It was an awesome mashup reminiscent of Bowie, Mercury and Gaga. I loved it, and will be back for more."

"Gorgeous songs, surprising choreography, enchanted excitement. I urge anyone who loves sophisticated pop to see this show."

"Yes, yes, yes, and yes! Great playing, awesome sound, killer production aesthetics and an overall great SHOW. St. Vincent and her band are kicking butt and taking names."

She is such a lively performer and her voice is so good. It's very easy to become immersed in the energy and vibe that even if you're not familiar with her work, it's an excellent show.

Amazing experience from the people helping us with tickets, to security, bartender, beer and food, opener, and the star: St Vincent. My second time seeing her and she’s always wonderful. Can’t wait to do this again!

  • Love St. Vincent!

by MajorOverlord on 9/16/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

First time at the venue "The Anthem,"in D.C. First time seeing St. Vincent in person. She's awesome--great music, massive energy, good positive and mischievous vibes. I was prepared for a show that wouldn't be as good as I was expecting; some artists are better recorded and not live. However, the hype was correct--St. Vincent puts on a kick-booty show with a talented band and crew. The people at The Anthem were very friendly and efficient. Good people and an interesting venue. Great show at a fun place. Go see St. Vincent for yourself! You won't be disappointed.

  • Perfect Sound and Great show

by WBJ on 9/16/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The Anthem became a bucket list venue to visit a few years ago when I saw a news feature about it. I came down from north Jersey instead of seeing St Vincent mid week in Brooklyn. I turned it into dinner and drinks at the wharf with a great show. The performance was excellent and was made better by absolutely perfect sound!! I stood in general admission middle of the pack for over 3 hours as a 56 year old man who drove 4 hours and then golfed 18 holes before this great event. The adrenaline of the show (and some beer) helped to keep me standing. I will be back and may consider some of the seats that all looked to be good views instead of standing. Great show. The fans were real fans of the band and Annie was sweet and caring of the fans as always. Such a talented performer.

  • Great show!

by Lena on 9/16/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Great singer! The sound was very good at The Anthem. The show was well-put together with the possible exception of the strobe lights and some other lighting which was aimed at the audience's retinas and that was the only real flaw. Otherwise, a lot of fun!

  • It's St. Vincent of course it was brilliant

It's St. Vincent of course it was brilliant. The greatest artiste on the planet today. Brilliant writer, brilliant player, and brilliant performer...and so engaging.

  • Absolutely face-meltingly rad

by stridewideman on 9/16/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The mix between percieving and being percieved, St. Vincent's ability to consistantly dance, sing incredibly, and absolutley shred on guitar, combined with a multi-layered stage experience that's also saying something... Just incredible. A projection of the New York Art scene of the past and today, at the peak of it's powers.

  • Excellent Show... though brief.

    by Rich-L on 9/16/24The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

St Vincent puts on a wonderful show. The visuals are subtle yet very creative in their effect. The music is fantastic, though I would have like more guitar from Annie. Additionally, I thought the set on this tour was quite short, coming in at barely 90 minutes.

  • Amazing night! In spite of the sound mix.

    by makai_02 on 9/14/24Brooklyn Paramount - BrooklynRating: 4 out of 5

Annie Clark and band were amazing and stunning on stage! They delivered a variety of moods and tone to make for a most memorable and full evening. The only drawback (which is major in my opinion) was the poorly engineered front of house mix. It lacked presence in the midrange having the vocals and guitars muted amongst the rest of the instruments. And yet still... THEY were top-notch! ❤️

  • A very New York show

by Alex on 9/14/24Brooklyn Paramount - BrooklynRating: 5 out of 5

St. Vincent was truly vibing and simply having fun with the show, experimenting with sound and production. It felt like she was making art live. The venue itself was gorgeous, spacious, had lots of access to drinks and water, clean and spacious bathrooms. Love a concert attended mostly by people in their 30s.
