About

ST. PAUL AND THE BROKEN BONES IN CONCERT:

St. Paul and the Broken Bones bring a youthful enthusiasm to their flashback sound, reviving Southern soul right down to the matching suits each band member wears. Lead singer Paul Janeway tears through each song with unbridled passion, swaying to the rhythm as he skillfully navigates each crescendo and vocal trill. The band adds smooth basslines, banging drums, and blaring horns to breathe life into each soulful serenade and rocking rhythm. Ticket buyers won’t be able to resist each classic style this sextet plays, from pumped-up dancefloor anthems like “Call Me” to gracefully building gospel ballads such as “Like a Mighty River”. Anyone with a funky bone in their body will dig the old school vibes and undeniable grooves of St. Paul and the Broken Bones in concert.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Paul Janeway was studying to become an accountant in 2012, having finally resigned to “make something of himself” when soul music called his name. Rekindling a few old connections, he started St. Paul and the Broken Bones with several Birmingham, AL musicians. The first time they played together was to record a four song EP in 2013, forming an immediate and undeniable chemistry in the studio. After signing with Single Lock Records, the group released their critically praised debut Half the City. The album caught the attention of The Rolling Stones, who hired the soulful sextet to open for them on their 2015 Zip Codes Tour. While they work on their second full-length album, St. Paul and the Broken Bones continue to use their winning blend of gospel and soul to electrify audiences who can’t get enough.

  • High Energy awesome show

I saw St. Paul and the Broken Bones at Avondale Brewing Co in Birmingham -- what a great show!! The venue was the perfect size-- super chill back yard feel with outdoor bars and food trucks- I highly recommend seeing anyone there! The show itself was awesome!! Both openers were great-- and even if you didn't know the music of SPATBB you would have a great time seeing them live. The lead singer is so fun and the music is all good vibes.

An incredible voice and showman. Highly entertaining performance from the band as well. I can’t recommend any higher!

  • Walks off stage and comes back almost 15 mins later

by kp on 9/28/25Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - MontgomeryRating: 3 out of 5

Great voice but no connection to the audience. Leaves the stage for almost 15 mins. Comes back for a few songs and wants to call it a night, not even an hour had passed. Strange guy.

  • Awesome headliner, lousy lineup

by Kkatova on 7/20/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 3 out of 5

St. Paul and the Broken Bones sounded great, and were very entertaining. Unfortunately, they didn't come on stage until almost 9:45pm, and only played an hour and 15 mins. Concert was scheduled to start ridiculously early, at 6:30pm. There was no reason to have 2 warm up bands. I'm sure the Wood Brothers have their fans. I found them boring, every song sounded the same, and they played way too long.

  • “Best show ever” as soon as we sat down….

by Sasquatcher on 7/18/25Sweetwater Performance Pavilion - Fort WayneRating: 5 out of 5

For some reason, the stars were an alignment and I was able to get front row center seats. The Wood Brothers opened playing some favorites and some new ones. It was nice to be able to see the look on their face and realize they were having fun too. The venue was awesome, too no lines of the bathrooms no lines at the food trucks and no lines at the alcohol tent. Saint Paul and the broken bones burn the place down as usual. The energy was palpable. The intimacy of the venue let itself to the awesomeness of the shows. I will be scanning the Internet for Mohr at this venue. Long live wood brothers and st Paul and broken bones they rule.

  • Wood Brothers Rock!!!

Concert was great but St. Paul should have warmed up for the Wood Brothers. Venue was fantastic and we will be back!
