About

Squeeze, led by the songwriting duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, produced some of the catchiest songs from the ‘70s British new wave scene. The band’s 1978 self-titled debut and follow-up albums Cool for Cats (1979) and Argybargy (1980) produced a number of hits in the U.K., with a few receiving airplay on U.S. college radio, including “Take Me I'm Yours,” “Up the Junction” and the bouncy “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell).” In 1981, Squeeze released their fourth studio album East Side Story, featuring “Tempted.” The song went on to become one of the band’s most famous songs. It has been featured in movies, TV shows, video games and commercials.

Venue was great..intimate and accessible. Band was perfection. I entered a time warp, right back to 1983. Witnessed some incredible musical talent on that stage. Best night. Thank you Squeeze for existing.

  • Fantastic!

I have loved Squeeze and Boy George for over 40 years. It has been a dream of mine to see Squeeze and they were amazing. They played tons of songs and rocked it out! It was great!!! It was better than I imagined. Thank you so much!

  • Amazing!!!

by Trio on 9/21/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

They were incredible! The venue is lovely and the sound quality was great - terrific visibility for a short person like me to see the stage :). The drinks were CRAZY expensive *gah* just be prepared for that. Otherwise eveything was wonderful and I'd see a concert in this Central Park Theater any time!

  • Amazing experience, Amazing Show!

by Stevie on 9/21/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamRating: 5 out of 5

The acoustics in the building are the best I’ve heard in any arena I’ve ever been in, and I’ve been a lot. Squeeze and Boy George are amazing live and need to come back to DPAC soon!

  • Cool Cats

Loved the concert and took me back to the 70s and 80s.

  • Great concert. Did not love the venue.

by Bonnie276 on 9/20/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

Paid a lot to sit on very uncomfortable bleachers and to use a Porto potty. While the performances were great, I don’t think I would come back unless the show was free.

  • Great Night in the Park

by Walt on 9/20/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Boy George still has a great voice, even though it’s lower than it was in the 80s. He put over the hits with style and humor and showed what he can do now vocally covering both “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Purple Rain.” Squeeze proved how durable their great songs from the 70s and 80s are, and Tillbrook proved what a great guitarist he is. Wonderful night!

  • Just perfect

by Brume on 9/20/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I’ve seen Squeeze some 40 times over the last 43 years. When the lights go down, the music starts and the singalongs begin, we’re all magically 24 years old again. One of the tightest, most talented bands I’ve ever seen. Squeeze has gotten better over the years. My wife and I brought my 23 year old daughter who said it was the best concert she’d ever seen.

  • A great show…

by Pete B on 9/20/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Boy George and Squeeze delivered an amazing show. We’ve seen Squeeze twice in California (Mountain Winery) and they were outstanding. At least 12 years later, Chris and Glenn literally don’t miss a beat. Keep rockin’ lads, we love you.

  • Great concert

by ODA on 9/20/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

For a band celebrating their 50th anniversary, Squeeze sounds like a much younger group - the musicianship and energy of their live show was remarkable. The playlist was a great great cros-section of what makes them so fun to listen to. Glenn Tillbrock is as good as ever on guitar, balancing great solos with servicing the songs, and his voice sounds great. Overall a great concert.

Squeeze was awesome! That was the first time ever seeing them perform and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

  • Fantastic nite of music at Central Park Summerstage!

by Crystal on 9/20/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Great nite for an amazing band--Squeeze! They came out with a bang and hit-after-hit from their 'decades long' catalogue! The crowd loved them and they were SO spirited and energetic--all eight of them on the stage. I've never seen them before and go to about 5-8 shows a month and was so impressed. Boy George brought the colourful fun as well and closed the show w. T. Rex classic 'Bang A Gong' with Squeeze! Thank you for bringing them! 💜

  • EXCELLENT!

by JohnTinNYC on 9/20/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Loved this concert...Boy George was Boy George...I enjoyed his mix of songs...and Squeeze was relentless with hit after hit!

  • Squeeze at Central Park NYC

by Ivan Campo on 9/20/24Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Seen them many times, this was brilliant, and a great and unusual venue. Surprised that so many Americans knew the words. Wish they had included Labelled with love, and Annie get your gun... Will see them again in October

Squeeze really brought back all the music from back earlier in the years. They really tempted by fruit of another/tempted that the fruit was discovered.
