  • A Great Evening Out

This is my first time attending the Low Country Jazz Festival and I am so looking forward to next year's event. I had no problem driving from Greenville to Charleston to attend this event and am so happy I did. If I had not received an email regarding this event, I would have missed out on a wonderful treat. Euge Groove is one of my favorite Jazz artists and it was so good to be able to see and hear him in person. All artists (Shilts from England I believe and Charleston's own Charlton Singleton) were good and really gave us our money's worth and then some. I'm just partial towards Euge Groove. It was good to see Spyro Gyra...they've been around for a long time and still going strong. What a wonderful way to spend my Saturday evening/night. Definitely a Festival that is well worth your time and money.

  • Incredible Performers

All performers were great; however, Euge Groove stole the show......he was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved the entire show and will definitely be back with my family next year. I am looking forward to it!!!

  • Euge stole the show!

I've seen Spryo Gyra before and had touted what an awesome jazz band they were to my fiance - but he & I both agree.....Euge Groove stole the show. His performance was lively, sexy & groove-a-licious!!! Don't get me wrong...Spyro Gyra was good - but it was almost like they tried too hard. I love a good jam session - but ALL of their songs, except their finale "Morning Dance" went on a little too long. I wondered if others felt the same way, because over a quarter of the audience began leaving the auditorium after their fifth or six song. Simply put....Euge Groove was a hard act to follow and HE should've been the headliner.

  • Great Jazz Show

Great evening of Jazz! Charlton Singleton, Shilts, Euge Groove, and Spyro Gyra were all excellent. Very talented artists performing at their best. What a pleasure to be a part of.

The opening act with C. Singleton was great. Hughes Gruve did a great show as well. Spiro was, well was.

the concert by Stilts, Euge Groove and Spyro Gyra was excellent. The event started on time and the venue worked well - parking, restrrooms, breaks, etc. each performance was superb. Stilts, who was the least known, was a pleasant surprise, while Syro Gyra met expectations,. Euge Groove's music and interaction with the audience was the best of the three.

The weather was perfect and so was the music. My husband and I have seen this group on several occasions and have many of their CD's so we knew they would give us our money's worth. Looking forward to the next time they are in the area.

  • They still miss Dave Samuels....

The Spyro concert at Cain Park can be described as average by me, only because of the excessive noodling within the songs. With their catalog to choose from, I'd guess another 4 or 5 songs new or old could've been added. The biggest pain in the side was the dreaded drum solo. Guys, it's gone the way of the Dodo bird-ditch it! 33 years since their debut would make one understand the different arrangements of classic songs-"Shaker Song" comes to mind-but the Latin hook is what gave it its charm. "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" was an exceptional twist to a classic dedicated to Charles Mingus and Lester Young with the haunting treatment given. Everything was made whole with the encore number "Morning Dance" lest they didn't want a riot of "fiftysomethings" storming the stage. Well that could've tied in to their love of "Blazing Saddles", me thinks.......!

  • Awesome Concert

by rtersdgsf on 7/19/10Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

While I had certainly heard of and enjoyed listened to Spyro Gyra occassionally on the radio, I had no idea how diverse and talented they were collectively and individually. You can see their love for their craft clearly on their faces and feel it in their movements and they perform. They are seasoned gentlemen who appear to be energized by each other and their fans. I will definately see them again.

  • Spyro Gyra was geat as usual!

Took my young daughter, she had a great time and found it just as entertaining as I did. Great afternoon show in a great outdoor setting.

An excellent band at an excellent venue. Even with the heat on a Sunday afternooon, they brought thier A game and proved how they have been exciting and viable for all these years.

  • Spyro Gyro Awesome as Usual

by HammanJazz on 7/19/10Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsRating: 5 out of 5

The fellows didn't disappoint. High energy tunes with riveting solos had my interest throughout this two hour concert. The band individually has changed over the years but Jay Beckenstein is a constant, unifying force. Look forward to their next event in the Cleveland Ohio area.

  • Spyro Gyra

For a first time visitor to Cain Park and a longtime fan of Spyro Gyra it was like meeting an old friend for lunch... and you picking up the bill. The ambiance was great, I had lawn tickets and thank God it wasn't 90 degrees in the shade.Spyro Gyra was great as usual and it was reflective hearing some old favorites and being introduced to their newer songs.

The music was excellant and the crowd was typical for that venue. It made for an enjoyable summer evening. The organizors should give the people info on the refreshments and espcially if there is a condition when it comes to alcohol purchases

  • Youngstown Jazz festival

by DBandSGfan on 7/11/10Youngstown Jazz Festival - YoungstownRating: 5 out of 5

I hope this becomes a yearly event and great acts like Spyro Gyra and David Benoit. The concert was awesome! I moved to the front of the stage and danced toward the end of the concert. The crowd roared when Morning Song was played, and I was very happy to hear Charles Mingus, Dave Brubeck and Vince Guaraldi selections played. I hoped to hear Para Ti Latino and Clair's Dream would have been played. However, I love everything they write. Featuring the vocals and drumming by Bobby pulled me up to the front. I was glad Jeff pointed out who wrote the songs and allowed the artists to freely show themselves. I always through SG had a great song on tape then CD. They are better in person. David Benoit was excellent. Watching his fingers move across the keyboard thrilled me. Thanks for coming to Youngstown!
