SPOON IN CONCERT:
Veteran art rockers Spoon continue to enjoy both indie cred and mainstream popularity, entering their third decade together as one of independent music's most visible crossover successes. As creative in concert as they are in the studio, the band has earned a reputation as a consummate live act, consistently thrilling fans on their critically acclaimed tours with ambitious renditions of fan favorites like "I Turn My Camera On" and "Stay Don't Go". Whether they're treating ticket buyers to cuts from 2014's They Want My Soul or covering bands like the Smiths and Guided by Voices, Spoon brings a passion and energy to the stage that always elevate their shows to the next level.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Spoon was formed in Austin in 1993 by lead singer and guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno. Following a 1994 EP release the band signed to Matador Records, debuting their first full-length album Telephono to mixed reviews in 1996. By the time the band released the Soft Effects EP in 1997 they had begun to hone in on the more polished, minimal sound they would become known for, but it wasn't until they released the album Girls Can Tell in 2001 that they finally achieved breakthrough success. A string of critically and commercially successful albums followed throughout the decade, including two No. 1 records on the Top Independent Albums chart -- 2005's Gimme Fiction and 2007's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. With their highly anticipated eighth album They Want My Soul hitting shelves in 2014, Spoon has fans eagerly awaiting their next live shows.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Spoon was excellent. Tight, professional. Brit rocked the house. They played old as well as new material."
"I highly recommend seeing them live, because they're fantastic musicians and they play a very interesting set as compared to their albums."
"Spoon's show was as awesome and intricate as their complex studio albums! To be able to pull off the complexity of their studio recordings live was amazing to hear and see. They were so tight and I don't think they made a mistake, and the light show was awesome as well."
Third time seeing Spoon live and never disappointed. Nice mix of new stuff and tracks from several previous albums.
Spoon is a great band. They are so tight and fun to watch. The Sylvee has a great location, size, layout, bar, and parking. However, the sound in the Sylvee is absolutely awful. I don’t think it has anything to do with the sound system or the sound engineers. It is a square concrete box with a metal ceiling and very little acoustical treatment. It’s almost criminal that they built a new venue without putting thought or money into how a great band would sound in the space. I probably won’t be going back to the Sylvee unless there is someone I can’t see elsewhere.
Spoon knows how to show you a good time. They are individually all super talented, have great chemistry together and clearly still enjoy performing. Their energy is contagious. I've seen them twice now and I'd see them again and again.
Amazing show. 100% effort on a Monday night off the beaten path. New album’s songs come off very well live.
First show since Covid. Fantastic venue and best band ever.
I really love going to shows at the Rialto. Spoon put on a great concert. An electric performance and great crowd interaction with only one slight hiccup when Britt foolishly mentioned Phoenix. Catch them on this tour if you can. Lots of old favorites and every song they played from Lucifer was a banger.
Venue was clean and easy access to all bars and restrooms. Plenty of good spots to see from
Fantastic show. 3rd show I’ve seen this tour (also Chicago and Milwaukee) These guys play their hearts out and blow me away every show!
This concert was $25, so perfectly happy with the show. But while Spoon is always a good show, Palladium is not a good venue. The sound is pretty terrible, being just a big room with no acoustic engineering. And unless you pay extra for the upper seats, you can’t see anything from GA since the floor is flat. Drink prices are of course insane. See Spoon somewhere else and you’ll have a great time.
The show was awesome. One of the reasons this band is one of my all time favorites is because of their live performances, and Sunday at the Fillmore definitely did not disappoint. Can wait to see them again in September!
Great show! An absolute fabulous band. I didn't want it to stop!
They rocked it! Energetic performance and a nice venue.
Loved the show, loved the venue. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I highly recommend seeing Spoon and highly recommend going to any concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Good sound, great sight lines for viewing. Friendly people. Huge clean bathroom. Comfy seats. Very nice theater.
Of the hundreds of concerts I've seen I'd cite about five where a band performed shockingly beyond my expectations. Spoon did that Friday, tearing in to old and new material with an intensity that, for these 50-somethings, was frankly unbelievable. The audience of die hard fans was at times stunned to near silence. I saw them in 2003 when they were technically brilliant, and in 2015 when they were very polished at the height of commercial success. Now they are raw and aggressive, following perhaps the usual arc in reverse.
Great show from Great American Rock & Roll Band would love to see them again
Did not expect the level of energy and fun (dare I say it) from the band and the show. Audience seemed to lack attention to the high level of musicianship going on and having one if the Devine Fits members show up was a cool bonus.
Didn’t understand the songs for the Encore. Spoon has fantastic songs, and they did 3 covers???? Come on. You are in NYC, give us New York Kiss!!!!!
I had gone to the show on Wednesday at the Fillmore and it was so amazing that I bought tickets and ran by myself to Hammerstein and thought to myself these blues would be fun they light up who knows if they’ll let me bring them in but why not so I’m there by myself on a lot of fun and while dancing upfront somebody tells me they like my balloons they help me blow them up we decide to release them and was pretty darn cool happen to be standing next to some famous actor he had Britt Daniel on his phone Took a picture and sent it to Britt, I think this night made 49 for me thank you spoon for sharing your pain with me it helped me through mine I’m not done yet though.
One of the most professional bands in land - Spoon overdelivers in concert and the rescheduled show at the Fillmore in Philadelphia was no exception. I may be wrong but I think Britt was singing through a smile for long portions of the night
