SPOON IN CONCERT:

Veteran art rockers Spoon continue to enjoy both indie cred and mainstream popularity, entering their third decade together as one of independent music's most visible crossover successes. As creative in concert as they are in the studio, the band has earned a reputation as a consummate live act, consistently thrilling fans on their critically acclaimed tours with ambitious renditions of fan favorites like "I Turn My Camera On" and "Stay Don't Go". Whether they're treating ticket buyers to cuts from 2014's They Want My Soul or covering bands like the Smiths and Guided by Voices, Spoon brings a passion and energy to the stage that always elevate their shows to the next level.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Spoon was formed in Austin in 1993 by lead singer and guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno. Following a 1994 EP release the band signed to Matador Records, debuting their first full-length album Telephono to mixed reviews in 1996. By the time the band released the Soft Effects EP in 1997 they had begun to hone in on the more polished, minimal sound they would become known for, but it wasn't until they released the album Girls Can Tell in 2001 that they finally achieved breakthrough success. A string of critically and commercially successful albums followed throughout the decade, including two No. 1 records on the Top Independent Albums chart -- 2005's Gimme Fiction and 2007's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. With their highly anticipated eighth album They Want My Soul hitting shelves in 2014, Spoon has fans eagerly awaiting their next live shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Spoon was excellent. Tight, professional. Brit rocked the house. They played old as well as new material."

"I highly recommend seeing them live, because they're fantastic musicians and they play a very interesting set as compared to their albums."

"Spoon's show was as awesome and intricate as their complex studio albums! To be able to pull off the complexity of their studio recordings live was amazing to hear and see. They were so tight and I don't think they made a mistake, and the light show was awesome as well."

    Meh

Venue was small and too crowded. No space to move around.

SPOON=INCREDIBLE! Wish I could say the same about the venue

by Gentry on 10/20/22Tannahill's Tavern and Music Hall - Fort Worth

Loved Spoon's energy and the interaction Britt had with the audience. Will see them every chance I get! DID NOT like Tannahill's Tavern in Ft. Worth. The sound was Terrible the layout sucks. I am already looking to sell tix for another show I had bought for this venue.

    Another great show

by TomG on 10/18/22Tannahill's Tavern and Music Hall - Fort Worth

The show at Tannahill's was my seventh time seeing Spoon. My wife and i traveled to Aspen to see them last year so we are committed. Their new album is great and the show was amazing from start to finish. Both of the warm up acts were also really entertaining. The venue is new and it was perfect for the show. i loved it.

    Great show, VIP understaffed

by Gloworm on 10/18/22Tannahill's Tavern and Music Hall - Fort Worth

Awesome show by Spoon! We upgraded our seats at the venue and we’re lead to the VIP section upstairs. The upgrade included full bar. However, the servers were nowhere to be found. Luckily, there was a bar right outside of the section so we ordered our drinks there when we needed them. The venue isn’t finished yet but will be incredible when it’s completed. Will return to the venue again hopefully in the near future!

    Great band, bad venue

by Serial Sneak on 10/18/22Tannahill's Tavern and Music Hall - Fort Worth

I love Spoon. Saw them first in 1996 at the Argo in Denton. I was very happy to hear Metal Detektor. The band played well on 10/15 but the venue has a lot of issues: 1) we were prevented from getting to the Merch booth by the attendants at the area behind the sound booth 2) the sound on the edges was muffled and any time Britt spoke, you couldn’t make out what he was saying 3) it appeared to be over sold, which is great for profit but terrible for people trying to enjoy the show and grab a beer. When the staff shuts down access (see point 1) to half the facility and you are forced to stand at the edges or up against the bar (in which the catwalk columns obscure the view), the experience is frustrating. It also prevents FOH engineers from being able to check levels throughout the venue (see point 2) 4) The idea that a big open room makes for an enjoyable experience for the audience is outdated. I went to plenty of warehouse shows as a kid, I’m paying for quality sound and experience not just the “cred” of going to a show. 5) lastly. My guess is that the band had issues with the sound probably due to the change between an empty and full venue that wasn’t designed for this. I’ve been in those situations and their behavior on stage reflected it. I could be wrong but something was off with them. It will take a lot for me to go back to Tannehills. But a second lack luster experience would prevent me from ever going back. My advice to bands playing here is to research how difficult it is for fans to access the venue and how they will be able to buy Merch and get into viewable/listenable locations at the venue.

    Underrated

by E on 10/17/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

Not one bad song. What a treat watching a true rock band. Every song was a toe tapper that had you dancing. This is without a doubt the most underrated rock band. Cannot wait to see them again.

    Amazing!

by gary_sch on 7/21/22Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

This show was AMAZING! Spoon put on a fantastic show, played a set list of well selected bangers, and rocked the house down! They made us work pretty hard for an encore, and it was HOT in the theatre by the end of the show...but it was worth it

The best value in a concert this summer

by Stella on 7/21/22Kalamazoo State Theatre - Kalamazoo

They sound amazing, the venue was gorgeous, getting in and out was easy as I've ever had, concessions were great and reasonably priced. This is a legendary band that you can see playing with the same energy as in their prime for next to nothing compared to the rap/arena rock bozos. Also, awesome new album and songs! The only downside was they didn't play Cherry Bomb or Msrt Valentine, but I can't have everything.

    Best concert I've been to!

by Danika on 7/21/22Kalamazoo State Theatre - Kalamazoo

Spoon & Bodega are not to be missed! Group of 4 attended and we all had a blast. They were both so much fun to watch and listen to. They played every hit and then some. The crowd cheered for so long we got an encore of 5 or so songs. Honestly thought we might get lucky with 2 or 3 but they spoiled us. Can't recommend them enough!

    Spoon at the Sylvee

by Mishy on 7/18/22The Sylvee - Madison

I went to the spoon concert by myself, I met 3 cool people and we all became friends pretty quick, opening for spoon was Bodega, they were really good but when I got to see spoon live for the first time ever, it was better than I could have ever imagined, they were already an inspiration to my musical life, now they're even more amazing, their recordings are awesome but when they play live, it's truly magic, best concert I've gotten to see live. I was definitely mesmerized.

Great songs, band into it, sound could be better

by Spooner on 7/16/22The Sylvee - Madison

Spoon put on a great rock set. Lots of songs from a bunch of albums. Sound at the Sylvee was not as crisp as their previous tour stop at the Orpheum for Hot Thoughts.

What incredible stage presence. This is one tight group. So fun to watch and listen to. Great mastering by the sound crew for sure. I'd see them again and would drive out of state to do so.
