    Just average, if that.

by Family1 on 12/12/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

It was just average, if that. Not that funny, no plot. Maybe good for just kids.

Spongebob the Musical is unbridled fun and joy

by pmnyc on 12/11/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

Where to start? The theater is decked out to create a unique undersea wonderland, and the cast is surprisingly incredible at portraying non-human roles. There's an eclectic score and a script that hearkens to some of the show's iconic moments without forgetting to make new memories for any fan, young or old. The cast and crew go all out to keep you excited, laughing, and in a sense of wonder. The songs are catchy and fun, the dance numbers are genuinely impressive (a four-legged tap dance!), and the story overall is one of hope and finding a hero within yourself. I have been a fan of Spongebob since the show started in 1999 and I absolutely loved the musical, and found myself nearly skipping through Times Square afterwards and singing the songs as if I were a kid again. I recommend this to anyone who has an affinity for the little square dude or has kids in tow, and in general to anyone who wants to have some of the most fun they could have on Broadway.

    Terrible seats

by PatrickTheStarfish on 12/11/17Palace Theatre New York - New York

The top tier tickets are terrible and I paid $103 for them. Do not bother going if these are the only tickets you can get. We had to strain forward to see anything and we were in the 2nd row! The props and set were excellent, except I was disappointed Spongebob wasn't actually dressed more like a sponge and Patrick more like a Starfish. I specifically went because the music was advertised as being written by a plethora of amazing musicians e.g. Cindi Lauper, Steven Tyler. I thought it would be different to most Broadway shows. Alas, the songs were the same old, same old. My 13 year-old niece enjoyed it but it was her first Broadway show.

Expected To Hate It But Loved It!

by JulieHD on 12/10/17Broadway and Chicago - Brooklyn

Was dragged to this while visiting Chicago in 2016, and was blown away with the music, choreography, and wonderful story! Went to see it again and love it even more the second time! Will see it again in a few weeks! And no, I am not related to anyone in the cast or crew and not a SpongeBob fan, just an ordinary parent who loves the music and how optimistic I feel after seeing the show! Other reviewers covered the stars, so I want to shout out to Patchy the Pirate adds a lot of fun to the show, Pearl who has some amazing voice, and one hell of a sexy Plankton!
