Wonderful show with a nice mix of old favorites and new. Catch them if you can.
I last saw Sparks at the original 9:30 Club in the 1980s. I have been waiting a long time to see them again, and finally got the opportunity. They continue to be incredible and relevant, and they will always be my favorite band. The only negative comment is that there was insufficient access to the fan merchandise. I wish there had been a way to order that with our tickets.
The Town Hall is a fantastic venue - smallish and charmingly old school. The band simply cannot be anything less than brilliant. The audience, consisting of loyal fans of all ages, provided tremendous support and enthusiasm. Dear Mael bros: please play more US dates when you're done in Europe!
The best band most people don’t know about! The shows at New York’s Town Hall were excellent. For 2 guys in their mid to late 70’s, they still have great energy for a nearly 2 hr set! Russell has the energy of a man half his age! Go see them if you have the chance. And check out the Sparks documentary “The Sparks Brothers” for an incite to their 50 + year careers!
Great. I wish they were in residence somewhere. I would see them every week. A niche audience but an ecstatic one. More Sparks please!
Excellent show. The set list spanned their whole career. The acoustics were excellent and they played for two non stop hours.
Don't hesitate. Go to Sparks. Fifty character limit.
Heavily biased as a rabid fan but to see SPARKS in concert at NYC’s Town Hall was a lifetime highlight! Long may they tour and I’ll listen to at least one Sparks song a day until they return. “Isn’t it a little bit like Joy!” Thanks guys.
I went to see Sparks last night and what a blast! Great show. If you don't know who Sparks is, I abashedly admit I didn't either until I saw Edgar Wright's excellent 'The Sparks Brothers'. Now you know. Go see them.
50 years of prolific energy, innovation and pure creativity culminating on one stage for one night! Sparks are beloved for all that and more. The genuine, reciprocal love and joy between the Mael Brothers, their excellent band and the grateful audience at Town Hall was deeply satisfying. Thanks for an unforgettable night!
I've had the pleasure of seeing Sparks five times now, once with Franz Ferdinand as FFS, and this was the best performance I've ever seen by them. The energy was through the roof, the band was super-gith, Russell's voice was in superb form, and Ron was... well, Ron was Ron. If you're a Sparks fan, you understand.
The show was terrific as always. Ron and Russ will never disappoint you. They are like a1000 great varieties of peanut butter and jelly served to you by your best friends hot mom.
Most fun we've had at a concert in years! Last time I saw them was in early 1975 on their Kimono My House/Propaganda tour and this show did not disappoint as a follow-up (so many years later). Our faces still hurt from smiling so much! Sparks, you're more relevant than ever! Thank you!
The Mael brothers have an epically deep back catalogue and give off the vibes of lovely people at peace with themselves (is it true? who knows!) We somehow got really good seats for their first NYC show in eons and it was a Sparks fan's dream: deep cuts, new stuff, and some great musicianship from their touring band. A really dreamy night of music!
I have been a long time Sparks fan but had never seen them live. Luckily, this changed Saturday (March 26th) when Sparks played the Lincoln Theater in D.C. Despite the band being down a guitarist (Evan Weiss) due to testing positive for Covid-19, the band sounded solid and full. Russel's vocals, at age 73, have never aged. He sounded as phenomenal live as he does on recordings. And all while dancing and working the stage like a spry twenty-something. Ron, whom I have always held a soft spot for, did not disappoint with his now famous, stoic, performance on keys. He did however add some brilliant levity to the show when he sang "Shopping Mall Of Love". Ang then again when he did his trademark "Ron Dance" during "No.1 Song In Heaven". Highlight tracks for me were, "I Predict", "When Do I Get To Sing My Way", "Angst In My Pants", "No1. Song In Heaven", "This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us" and "Edith Piaf". A very long wait did not disappoint. Bravo Mael Brothers and company.
My first time seeing Sparks and glad I did! They are the quintessential 80's sound band probably because they invented the sound. The quirky stylings of the Mael brothers gave this show a fun vibe. They really do appreciate their audience and build the show into a frenzy as it goes along. The Lincoln Theater in D.C. was a great venue. The sound was fantastic and the people who worked there couldn't have been any friendlier and helpful. All around a great show.
Energetic, relevant, clever and insanely fun. I'm the Girl from Germany who fell in love with their songs in the early 80ies in Germany. So glad to finally see them live, ... they kept me sane during the lockdown. WashDC concert was the best 👌.
They were incredible! We had a wonderful time. Sparks concert was on our bucket list. We are so happy we finally saw them in person after loving them for all these years. They have so much positive energy. ❤️❤️
Ron & Russell (& their awesome band) performed a little something from almost every album--and there's a LOT to cover! Russell still sounded great, hitting those high notes and adding humor to every lyric; Ron is clearly still himself and we cannot wait for another new album soon! This was a fantastic way to finally get back to seeing live shows again after almost 3 years.
We just recently saw Sparks at the Lincoln Theater in DC. It was astounding!! I've loved Sparks forever and seeing them live was a dream come true. They delivered in every way; super fun and energetic and the venue was great as well
