    by Toood on 7/5/23

Awesome show! Sparks Brothers HYPE! I only knew them from the documentary, but my wife listens to them a lot and, I have to say it was one of the best shows I have seen in a long long time by any band.

    SPARKS

by Sharon from Atlanta on 7/4/23

Sparks dynamically performed at The Wilburn Theatre in Boston July 1st. Kicking off the show with "So, May We Start?", from their award winning movie Annette, set the tone for a night full of energy, fun & a fabulous musical ride through thier vast volumes of songs ranging from "Beaver O'Lindy"to "Escalator"Brothers Ron & Russell Mael were true to their reputation performing as visually entertaining as their musical talents are to the ear. Russell's vocals & leaps were inspirational to those whose urge to dance was beckoning them to join him. The audience could not stay seated, when hits "This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us", "Balls", & "Music That You Can Dance To"were played, to name a few. Ron, stepping out from behind the keyboards for his classic dance during "The Number One Song in Heaven"& rare vocal part in "Shopping Mall of Love", captivated everyone's attention and was met with thunderous applause. Being great artists, even after eighteen songs, they will leave you wanting more. I would suggest this concert as a must for anyone who enjoys life or would like to enjoy life.

Sparks lights up Wilbur Theater, Boston

    by Moe on 7/4/23

Sparks was once again superb. Saw them 45 yrs ago at the Orpheum & again last year. They enjoy a loyal cult following & thoroughly love & feed off their loyal audience fans. The audience spanned decades from children to seniors, and many did not speak English. Its always a fun time with Russell still bouncing around singing, Ron so stern playing the keyboard. When he comes center stage with the shuffle dance everyone is on their feet. They played numbers from their new LP Latte as wel as old favs No 1 Hit in Heaven, Sing it my Way and This town is not big enough for both of us. All in all a great show

    Weirdly brilliant!

    by Plymouth Seagull on 7/4/23

Or as my friend so aptly put it, avant garde. I had watched the documentary and knew a few songs from the 70s (showing my age) but all they did were instantly recognizable as Sparks. The backing band were tight and overall the show was fantastic, energetic and had most of the diversely aged audience on their feet for the whole performance

    Sparks Flyin'

by Karl, Musical Genius on 7/4/23

Firstly, the Wilbur Theatre is a beautiful old building, perfect size for a concert. Sparks had no trouble commanding the room, playing their new songs and revisiting their older classics. My seats were front and center. The sound was great, the view was unbeatable. And, but for a couple of overzealous "fans"of various age, it was a perfect night in Beantown.

Sparks at 74 tour better than most 25 year olds. I’ll fight anyone who says different. It is amazing to see a band with such a portfolio suit up, show up and crush the audience with love and joy. Completely inspiring every time.

Some SPARKS to set off the 4th of July weekend!

    by Buzz on 7/3/23

I'd seen Sparks before, long, long ago, and I had never heard of them at the time. They opened for Kraftwerk in their 1975 tour, and from the minute they hit the stage I was sold! Been a fan ever since, and here we are, 48 years later, and they were outstanding! And they have a helluva body of work to choose from, so there were lots of favorites played! The theater was beautiful, the lighting was excellent, the band was tight as hell, and the Brothers Mael were just outstanding!!! And I think the crowd was one of the best I've experienced in a long, long time, and it ended with TWO standing ovations-nobody wanted it to end. And Russell and Ron seemed genuinely touched by the love that was bombarding them. I really hope they make it out for another tour-they are NOT to be missed!!

Firmly in my Top 5 all-time concerts

    by Leafmann on 7/3/23

For June 30 Lincoln Theatre Washington DC concert. A big fan since seeing them on BBC Top of the Pops in 1974. My first time to see them live. Amazing performance, few staging distractions, the band were very tight, the sound great. Their music is characterized by complex melodies, quirky and often humorous lyrics, stylized theatrical performances, and an idiosyncratic style which defies traditional genre classifications. They often deal with existential dread, but in an ironic or darkly humorous way. All of which was present in this set list. A cornucopia from their 26 album career over 50 years. Some new songs for their 2023 album popped straight away. The crowd loved it, 15 minutes of standing ovation. Ron and Russell Mael were genuinely appreciative of the warm reception from the DC audience. A must see, only July left in this tour.

    We love Sparks

    by Jerinick on 7/3/23

Great! Good visuals, great drummer and Ron & Russell at their best. The show made us very happy. We have been fans for decades. Russell has so much energy and great voice that gets better with age. Ron has such stage presence. Please bring them back to Lincoln Theater on their next tour

Sparks: A Real Rock N Roll Show!

    by Doctor Uncle on 6/30/23

Sparks featuring Russell and Ron Mael and an outstanding band put on a precise and old fashion rock and roll show with no flares or smoke machines but just talent. Both Ron and Russell are in their mid 70's and you wouldn't know it from their high energy performance. There is a lot of humor and satire and wry social commentary with great melodic rock music to support it. My favorite "Number 1 Song in Heaven"is a classic featuring Ron's crazy wacky dance. The Sparks show is a throwback days when musicians actually knew how to play their instruments and did not need gadgets and distractions to draw attention from their lack of musical prowess. See Sparks live as it is that not so common traditional rock show emphasizing musical talent with no accompanying smoke machines.

Sparks at Disney Hall Feb 8th 2022

    by Carol Lynn on 10/1/22

Have been a fan in Los Angeles since Halfnelson. Was lucky to see them several places over the years, and have been watching their musical evolution - always with love in my heart. After 2 years of basic Isolation from the Pandemic, I got my ticket for Disney Hall. Not sure if it was the deprivation of any kind of live entertainment that brought this event to a new height of landmark live performances for me, but pretty sure it was just them. I was overwhelmed with emotion watching these two wonders of musical brilliance, and was equally blown away by the band that hit every perfect moment. Special Kudos to Stevie Nistor for making some of my absolute favorites that heavily rely on great drumming a night to remember. God, I love this band. A feeling that has settled in my soul forever. I truly hope they schedule a tour again soon. Leaving the venue, I hears several comments that it was the "best show I've ever seen". So it wasn't just me.

Russel and Ron Mael together in 2022!

by Sheinaus on 4/2/22Town Hall - New York

I never thought I'd get to see Sparks live in person! I've been a fan since the 70s and am so glad I was at Town Hall to see them for the first time. So quirky, talented and strangely humble in front of an adoring audience... the vibe was great, the venue was great, and even though my seat was awful, the musicianship was outstanding. Would love to see them again anytime!
