SOJA IN CONCERT:

Tempestuous weather and turbulent waters are no match for the chill vibes of Virginia-based reggae rockers SOJA. In advance of their ninth studio album, the band will embark on the Calm Before The Storm Spring Tour in early 2014, treating fans throughout the Southeastern US to laid-back sets of their smooth grooves and folk-influenced storytelling.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The members of SOJA, formerly known as Soldiers of Jah Army, have been playing music together since middle and high school, forming an intimate bond that's immediately evident in their tight playing. Following a self-titled EP in 2000, the band released Peace in a Time of War, their first full-length album, in 2002. Influenced by the politics and musical style of reggae legend Bob Marley, the band struck a chord with fans of roots rock reggae, paving the way for the success of 2006's Get Wiser, which debuted in the Top 10 Reggae Albums on iTunes. The bands mesmerizing live show further bolstered their reputation, resulting in several successful live DVDs. Releasing eight albums in just over ten years, the ever-prolific band thrilled fans with the announcement of a ninth album in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"This show was phenomenal. The energy was INSANE, even with a smaller crowd. We drove almost 150 miles round trip just to see this show, and it was worth every minute of the monsoon we drove through. "

"The show was awesome! Great performance! If you love reggae music, you have to check them out."

"Seeing SOJA for the first time and I was impressed. All of the band members are very talented and they all jam so well together. Great live band and I definitely look forward to seeing them again!"

Soja At The National Theater Richmond VA

by ChrisRRRR on 2/7/11The National - Richmond

The best U.S. reggae band at one of the best venues in the country. Good price, great sound, great sight lines, comfortable, reasonable bars, wish we could purchase access to the mezzanine tables. Also would move Tribal Seeds closer to Soja in the rotation. Love Mambo Sauce but Tribal Seeds is better.

One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Great opening from Tribal Seeds and Mambo Sauce. Chris Boomer was also fantastic with SOJA, but nothing could match up to SOJA!

    Amazing show!!

by Chappytan on 2/5/11The Norva - Norfolk

The concert started with Tribal Seeds busting out their new stuff.....great way to get hype. (Except for the fact that there were way too many underagers...?) Seeing Mambo Sauce again was pretty sweet, BlackRock defiantly held it down. Then SOJA & Chris Boomer - which btw, great first CD - coming out. And a shout out to our DE tech man - Trevor Young - holding it down back stage and even helping with the crazy hippie fan that ran on stage a the end. haha. I think this show was one of the best I've been too, everybody was defiantly chill and into the show. See you in Phili! PS - Peace in a time of War next time PLEASE!!!

SOJA is amazing! True Rasta's and a clear message. Unfortunately there was a very immature audience that missed the message that SOJA was trying get across..

Seen SOJA 4 times and it gets better every time!

by mafran on 2/5/11The Norva - Norfolk

One of my all time favorite bands. I'd never heard of them until a friend took me to see them live and they blew me away! Since then, I've seen them every time they're within 4 hours of me. Truly one of the most inspiring bands I've ever heard-- they're amazingly talented, dedicated to their fans and their music has a great message. Every time I go to a concert, I bring friends with me so they can discover them as well! GO SEE THEM! Also their opening bands, Chris Boomer and Mambo Sauce, are super talented too. Can't wait to see all of these bands blow up and get the recognition they deserve!

SOJA / Tribal Seeds @ the Norva

by Landfish on 2/5/11The Norva - Norfolk

Soja was great, as usual. I really enjoyed Tribal Seeds and not sure why they played before Mambo Sauce. Mambo Sauce didn't seem to fit the genre and I didn't like their music. Wished Tribal Seeds would have been given more time to showcase their music because they have much more songs in their portfolio. Hoping next time to see Tribal Seeds on their own tour or just them with SOJA. Seems like that would be a much better show.

SOJA - Every show is a must see!!!

by VBNative on 1/28/11The Norva, The Jewish Mother - Norfolk, Virginia Beach

If you haven't seen SOJA, your missing some of the best reggae music of the last decade. From their early days of playing in the DC music scene to making it big, SOJA is for real. Always spreading their righteous message that the world is all types of messed up and we, ourselves are the only one's that can change it. For all you rastas and crazy bald heads alike who haven't heard of or seen them now is the time to get educated on the future of reggae music. They truly are spreading the message of love and righteousness. Much love and success in all that you do....Jah Rasta Fari!
