About

A major punk band for over two decades, Social Distortion came out of Los Angeles's active hardcore scene of the late '70s and early '80s. Their first album, Mommy's Little Monster, appeared in 1983 and featured the song "Another State of Mind," which aired as one of a few punk videos on mid-'80s MTV. Since then, Social Distortion have further developed their mix of punk and rockabilly with such songs as "Ball and Chain," "Bad Luck" and "Reach for the Sky." To this day, Social Distortion remain one of punk's most exciting and vital bands. Over the course of their career, Social Distortion have brought many venues to capacity, like Observatory North Park and the Mission Ballroom.

    Social D was Great

    by EmpiricalMotors on 8/4/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

Social D performed excellently, just like you would figure from a band that has been around that long. The others were sub par, and you couldn't really make out any of their vocals, it is possible that it was our location, but that is questionable. The parking however was a let down, we paid for the VIP front parking, we did have security up til an hour after the concert, but we were in the back of the Rave by a run down, pretty disgusting apartment complex.

    Rocked the packed house!!!

    by dannyk04 on 8/3/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

Social D kicked some ass Saturday night at The Rave! They played everything you'd expect to hear, albeit a few I'd have loved to hear - I'm a sucker for the b-sides and "Shame on Me" I've never heard over the years. My only gripe is that the place was too packed, and I ended up watching the show from behind the arched doorways. I think The Rave over-booked the event (even reneging on my buddy's drink ticket at the last minute), and lots of people were left to watch and listen from back in the trenches. Overall I can't complain - but my wife, being a shorty, didn't see nearly what she paid for from back by the beer counter.

    Social D still rocks

    by kingoffools on 8/3/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

Social D had the place rocking. The song list did a good job of covering the band's history. Although, they of course played all the standards (Ball and Chain, Story of My Life, Prison Bound, I Was Wrong), the set list was not the same as the last time they came through Milwaukee. Best of all the band did play some new material which will hopefully be on their next album (back in the studio in Dec to record). About the only complaint I have is that some of the dialog between the songs has not changed in a couple of years.

    Social Distortion rocked

    by Flea923 on 8/3/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

This was my first time ever seeing Social distortion in concert and it was better than I imagined. They sounded just like they do on their recordings live. I will definately be going to see them next time they are in town.

    Social Distortion Rocked!!

    by Blackdov42 on 8/3/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

I have seen Social Distortion a few times at different venues in Chicago, this was ultimately the best show. The energy that the crowd was putting out was amazing. Everyone was dancing and rockin out to every song. I even saw some people crowd surfing which doesn't happen in Chicago (not anymore anyway).

    Social D. was tight

    by purtiize on 8/3/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

Mike Ness didn't miss a beat. The band played all the songs you'd expect and more. It would have been cool to see them in the larger venue upstairs- the grand ballroom, since it was little bit crowded in The Rave. The energy level of the band was steady the whole show. It's been about 15 years since I've seen Social Distortion and although the only person remaining from that Social D. is Mike Ness, he is the driving force, the glue, the reason it's still a band to go see and hear.

    by shakes on 8/2/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

social d has gone through many lineup changes but one thing that remains the same is frontman mike ness. it is his band and he is the reason they have survived for 30 years. i have seen them on several occassions and have never been disappointed. from start to finish they are outstanding. go see them if you can, you won't be disappointed. they overcame horrible acoustics at the rave and still put on a terrific show

    Social Distortion Rocked

    by TheClaw on 8/2/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

Social D rocked the house Saturday night as usual. This set was more free wheeling than in the past. Mike Ness didn't sound so rehearsed when talking to the audience. You can always count on Social D to give a good show. The Rave though is not a place I would not recommend to see a show. The sound was not good and the prices for drinks were sky high. They actually charged us a $1 for a glass of tap water!

Social D deliverd and M. Ness sounded great!!

    by Aginuz on 8/2/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

It was immediatly evident that Mike and the Boys were fired up to be in Milwaukee USA. They were full of energy and the crowd sensed it from the opening bell. They ripped it up and sounded fantastic doing it. They played all the greats and some new music as well. I can't wait for the new CD to come out.

    Social D killed it

    by BLVDbob on 8/2/09Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

I have seen more shows than I can count, but Social D put on one the best shows I have ever seen last night. From the mood the lights casted over the stage to the points of reflections between songs to the overall amazing singing and guitar playing of mike ness there wasnt a single thing that wasnt incredible. This year marks 30 years of underground rock n roll for mike ness and the D and they are still going strong. From amazing shows while on the road to the work they do in the studio is still just as powerful as it was in the beginning. They are going back in the studio soon and plan to have their new album out next year. But ultimately This is about the show. I could go on and on about how and why it was a great show but trust me it does it no justice unless you see for yourself. I would advice anyone and everyone to go see Social D at least once in their life. As for me I cant wait to see them again. Simply put this is a do not miss type of show for any and all who like music of the "underground" label. They're a lil punk, a lil rock a billy, but all american rock n roll. You will not be dissapointed by the show Social Distortion puts on.

    Good show!

by NickCave on 7/30/09Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

Thought last years shows were a little better, but still always enjoy seeing Social D live! New rythmn section was tight although I kinda missed Charlie. Mike was looking pretty good, I think he has lost some weight. That deal with the jerk jumping onto the stage from the balcony (loge), seemed a little "staged", it hardly seemed to faze Mike at all.

Social D is as strong as ever

by Sindrew on 7/24/09SoDo Showbox - Seattle

What a great sold out show. Mike's vocals are as strong and rough as ever and they really seem to have come into their own as muscians. Shows I saw in the 90s, you could barely "hear" the melody but now the talent and sound are much better and the band is really producing a quality show. I'm not so sure about the use of keyboards though. That's a new one for SD.

If you haven't seen them yet....

by jottmer on 7/21/09Showbox SoDo - Seattle

...you've missed out on life! This was one of the best concerts I've been to! Social D is incredible and their lyrics are amazing. Mike Ness is by far one of the best lyricists in recent history.
