A major punk band for over two decades, Social Distortion came out of Los Angeles's active hardcore scene of the late '70s and early '80s. Their first album, Mommy's Little Monster, appeared in 1983 and featured the song "Another State of Mind," which aired as one of a few punk videos on mid-'80s MTV. Since then, Social Distortion have further developed their mix of punk and rockabilly with such songs as "Ball and Chain," "Bad Luck" and "Reach for the Sky." To this day, Social Distortion remain one of punk's most exciting and vital bands. Over the course of their career, Social Distortion have brought many venues to capacity, like Observatory North Park and the Mission Ballroom.

Saturday, September 26, 2009 was my first experience at a live Social D show. Although it was sometimes hard to see the stage if you weren't 6'5" or taller, the sound at the Beaumont was great. The band played for about 2 hours and included all of my favorites, plus a few new ones which I'm looking forward to when the new album is released. Can't wait to see them again.
This was my third Social Distortion show and they continue to blow me away. Mike Ness is an awesome song writer and musician, but all the guys bring so much energy and talent to the stage, it's obvious why they're still rockin! One of the best bands of all time!!!
Great show from start to finish. The 2 supporting bands were good and got the crowd revved up. But Social D was the icing on the cake. Playing everything you can think of, if you weren't singing along or pumping your fist in the air there was something wrong with you. What an awesome band. Beaumont Club was PACKED and everyone was having a great time.
Awesome show. Beaumont needs to raise there stage. Poor visibility took away from the show. Social D totally killed it. Love this band...
Social D was as awesome as I thought they would be, and better. The set list was great along with the whole act. Mike Ness your a bad ass and I loved watching you on stage. This was my first show of Social D's but I've been listening since 96 and I trully enjoy every second of every song. Every time I go skate you guys are playing in the ipod. Thank you so much for coming to the great state of Missoura
Never miss an opportunity to see the show, Social D always puts out energy.
By far one of the best shows I have seen all year. Crowd interaction was awesome you felt like part of the show not just watching it. The band was dead on with their musicianship. The Venue was amazing with the new renovations. Truly this is how a concert should be. Intimate small room with the band and crowd just rockin'.
From the moment they took the stage they were amazing.
This was a fun show in a great venue! The only thing was that it was hot. The chicks next to me were pretty messed up and weirded me out but I am sure the guys around me were ok with it.
This show was probably the best show I have ever been to. It would be hard to make me believe they did a better show on the rest of this tour. Just plain SICK.
They played all their great hits. The fans were awesome. The moshing was crazy.
The ticket says concert starts at 8. What it doesn't tell you is that there will be two opening bands, the first one will be late and start at 8:30, and that Social Distortion won't even come on stage until 10:30. I thought this was ridiculous. The opening bands were terrible. I normally love this venue, however this evening the room was extremely hot and the couple doors they had open did a poor job of cirulating any air that could come in. We thought we we were going to pass out from the heat, which pretty much ruined the fun we were finally starting to have once SD came on.
This was by far the best show I have every seen Social Distortion play..
I'm a long time rocker and have been to too many shows to count. I'd tried several times to see Social D without success, and was looking forward to the show! The venue was funky and cool, although the temperature inside was ridiculously hot. Can't wait to rock with Mike and the boys again soon. If you're a fan and haven't yet seen them live, get off your butt and get there. It's worth a long drive, a high price, or begging for a ticket if the show is sold out. Sell your soul to get there, you won't be disappointed.
Band was awesome as always and shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. Its been 30 years for them touring and the experience shows. I only hope I am still listening in 30 more years. Ventura theatre is a good sized venue for a show like this, however, ithe acoustics are designed so that a person on stage can project their voice with out an amplifier. This makes it really loud when bands are wired in and the talking parts and vocal are hard to understand. Plus there is hardly any ventilation. It is almost unbearably hot!
With a broad spectrum of influences Social Distortion has not only a unique sound but a unique quality in that Mike Ness can please a crowd while maintaining his own style. Social D is not the most popular band ever, but with a strong following that remains strong after 30 years the band is doing something right. People young and old come to see them where ever and whenever they play. Last night was no exception. It was a great show, but then again Social D is not a band to disappoint.
The event exceeded my expectations!!!!! Social Distortion was AMAZING!!!!!!
Social D is at it again 30 years and still hitting hard. Great performance with a lot of energy. The crowd was into it and Mike Ness couldn't have done it any other way. Any Social D fan young or old will enjoy seeing them without a doubt.
Social Distortion ALWAYS gives an outstanding performance. They are truly one of the greatest rock/punk bands ever. Can't wait to see them again at a different venue, tho. Unfortunately, the Ventura Theatre sucks. We have been to events here before, and it is always awful: airless, hot, and the bathrooms are like filthy, fetid swamps due to substandard plumbing and maintenance. They always start an hour later than the start time, and there is very long waits between acts. We will never go to another show here.
