About

A major punk band for over two decades, Social Distortion came out of Los Angeles's active hardcore scene of the late '70s and early '80s. Their first album, Mommy's Little Monster, appeared in 1983 and featured the song "Another State of Mind," which aired as one of a few punk videos on mid-'80s MTV. Since then, Social Distortion have further developed their mix of punk and rockabilly with such songs as "Ball and Chain," "Bad Luck" and "Reach for the Sky." To this day, Social Distortion remain one of punk's most exciting and vital bands. Over the course of their career, Social Distortion have brought many venues to capacity, like Observatory North Park and the Mission Ballroom.

    Social Distortion was amazing!

by drabs138 on 10/16/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

From the two awesome opening bands Middle Class Rut and The Strangers to Social Distortion, the entire show was great. Social Distortion was simply amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better show! I have been waiting years to see Social D play live and it was well worth the wait. They played with amazing energy, they sounded great, the crowd was very energetic and the band fed off of that energy to have an amazing performance. I can't wait until they come around again.

    Social D

by Bombjack on 10/16/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

As usual, Social Distortion rocked the house..Mike Ness is a pure Rock God who kept the packed house buzzing all night with a mix of punk, Rock and blues like only he can churn out. My only complaint would be some of the younger fans who just go to get wasted and annoy everyone else while they actually have no idea who they are actually listening to...Other than that, I loved it!

    Social D has gone soft.

by PhilipJ on 10/16/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

First off, I would like to say that the show in of itself was a good time. The music was spot on and even the openers were solid. Not amazing, but solid. The thing that really bothered me about this show was that my friend was kicked out during Social D for CROWD SURFING! He was never warned and there were never any announcements or signs that said anything about no crowd surfing. Since when is crowd surfing, a staple of all real rock shows for decades, not allowed? And adding insult to injury, I heard that it was Social D's tour manager that told the staff not to allow it. Wow, has this pseudo punk band gone soft after all these years? In all of the hundreds of shows that I've been to, never in my life have I seen anyone even reprimanded for crowd surfing. Because of this, my friend had to spend the rest of the show hanging out in some dive bar next to the venue. What a pathetic show of rock and roll. If that is how the band is going to operate from now on, I am never going to one of their shows again, and I am certainly not going to recommend it to a friend. Imagine that. He was never for warned, never told not to crowd surf, never given a second chance, he was just thrown out of the show for participating. The Hampton Beach Ballroom security guys even told us that they never have a problem with crowd surfing, it was the band's management who told them to do it. Screw that band. You have a kid pay $30 bucks and drive an hour and a half to come see the show and you kick him out for showing you guys how much he loves your band.

    SD @ HBC

by Atombomb on 10/16/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Decent show from Orange county's finest. Mike Ness can still rock after all these years. I was kinda disappointed in the set-list , as they missed a few of my favorites, but im just being selfish. Other than that it was a great mix of old classics and some of the newer SD material.

    A night to remember!

by luxxman on 10/16/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

The show opened with The Creeps, Another State of Mind into Mommy's Little Monster. That alone could have made the show worth seeing. Social D never disappoints the crowd and they put on a phenomenal show last night. Full on energy and a good crowd kept things moving along. Mike Ness was amazing as always and the new line up of the band was really tight. They played some new material and talked about heading to the studio in February to record the new album. My friend brought her 6 year old daughter to the show and Mike Ness was nice enough to give her his guitar pick, she'll have plenty of memories from her first concert! If you have one show to see this year it should be Social Distortion!!!

Social Distortion - Not What They Used to Be

by indierocker617 on 10/16/09Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

Let me first start by saying the opener was better than the headliner. Middle Class Rut brought so much energy, and I'll definitely see them again. I guess I expected more from Social Distortion. I have fond memories of my ex boyfriend sending me mix cds with SD songs on them. But after six songs, I was bored. Ended up leaving early. Disappointed.

by Anonymous on 10/14/09Northern Lights - Clifton Park

I missed them earlier this summer, so decided to drive down from northern VT; it was COMPLETELY worth while. Heard all my favorites, the crowd was awesome, and Mike can still sing to my soul. These guys are fantastic live!

    Mike Ness Rocks

by FASTLIKEJUDY on 10/14/09Northern Lights - Clifton Park

A good, hard core rock and roll show. No tricks, no gimmicks, just excellent guitars, tight music, , good songs and Mike Ness.
