So You Think You Can Dance Live! on Tour

As the name implies, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour is an extension of the long-running Fox TV series. Each year, top contestants from the show's most recent season go on the road and perform in front of live audiences. At these gigs, ‘SYTYCD' fans can expect the usual mix of inventive, high-quality choreography and solo and group spotlights. The format of the tour allows dancers to stretch out physically and emotionally, and to show off their unique personalities, which makes the night a resonant one. For the 2018 tour, the Top 10 finalists from Season 15 — including winner Hannahlei Cabanilla, a contemporary dance enthusiast from Orange County, California, and season runner-up Jensen Arnold — are hitting the road to show off their best moves, under the choreographic guidance of the Emmy-winning Mandy Moore.

About So You Think You Can Dance Live! Tour

Just as ‘American Idol' and ‘The Voice' have helped aspiring musicians launch a career, the judged competition ‘So You Think You Can Dance' has done the same for dancers. Contestants from the show, which premiered in 2005, have gone on to become professional actors and actresses, choreographers, and backup dancers for pop stars. ‘SYTYCD' itself has also become known for its innovative dance routines to popular music, and is a perennial Primetime Emmy winner, particularly in the Outstanding Choreography category.

The show's sterling track record is a testament to the stunning pool of talent on display during each season. ‘SYTYCD' doubles as a spotlight showcase for promising dancers specializing in various styles (hip-hop, jazz, contemporary), who then show off their best moves via group, pair, and individual dance performances. Each week, judges whittle down the field of competitors, before crowning one person the winner. After the season ends, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour gives top contestants a chance to strut their stuff in real life, up close and personal in front of the show's many, many fans.

I take my daughter to a show every year something different, or something she is interested in.This was the second time we saw so you think you can dance ....The first was the very first season. What a change in how they work the show. There was very little conversation from the dancers in the first show but in this one they each announced each others dances and explained how each dance became the best of the season. The dancing to say the least did not disappoint. They were awesome.

The dancing was wonderful. It was really nice to see the kids from SYTYCD dancing live. Lighting and effects were great. We stayed and met the dancers after. That was icing on the cake, as they were so nice and friendly.

The show was amazing! The dancers were unbelievable in person, and clearly wanted to give us all the best show they could. The producers of this tour put together great routines that we all loved from the season, and mixed in comedy from the dancers. I took my daughters, ages 3,5, and 7, and they LOVED it from beginning to end. After the show, we waited outside and each dancer came out and spoke to everyone in the crowd and autographed and took pictures with everyone who asked. The only complaint I had was with the Verizon Wireless Center. I ordered my tickets very early- as soon as they went on sale, and my seats were almost at the back of the arena and behind the stage. From where we were sitting, we could see behind the stage better than on the stage. And the sound system did not reach as high as we were, so we struggled to hear them speak and to hear the music. If they are going to sell seats for almost $50 a ticket they should accommodate all ticketholders by at least providing them with adequate sound.

The show was a lot of fun. I would not recommend the Verizon theater again. The sound was bad. I could hardly hear what was going on.

  • They Can Dance!

by silvablu on 9/21/09Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 4 out of 5

The "So You Think You Can Dance" tour is fabulous! All the favorite routines from season 5 are performed, and more. The dancers display their incredible talent and give each routine the same energy they did during the competition. They are truly amazing. Especially fun is the running Russian folk dance joke, which leads to a surprise I won't spoil. There are drawbacks. The sound is far too loud, particularly for the Romeo & Juliet and the Breast Cancer routines, and occasionally distorted. We're there to see the dancers, not for the music. The "humorous" bits between dances are fairly lame, and the ads for various SYTYCD products completely uncalled for. All these can easily be fixed. What I'd really like to see is each dancer given a chance to perform a complete solo, rather than the 30 seconds they're given during the competition. One warning for those seeing future tours in Manchester, NH: Don't get floor seats. The stage isn't raised; you'll spend all your time craning to see anything.

  • SYTYCD Live Tour 2006 was all I hoped for.

by jpll on 9/21/09Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 4 out of 5

The dancing, the script, the personalities of the talented performers all made for an exceptional evening. The one blemish was the excruiatingly loud sound system that made the dialog impossible to understand and the music hurtful to the ears. The costumes were great. The fabulously talented cast was attractive and welcoming. The noise of the sound system painful!!!!

  • Amazing

    by Dbld21 on 9/21/09Verizon Wireless Arena - ManchesterRating: 5 out of 5

These guy's put on a phenomenal show! I recommend this for anyone! The energy, and emotion was high--it was comedic at times. They perform all the greats of the season! However, I don't suggest floor seats unless it is first 3 rows in a section. If you stay an extra 2 hours or so after the show they come out for pictures and autographs. It was a good night!!

  • So You Think You Can Dance was amazing

The dancing was amazing!!!! All the dances were great. They danced the "addidiction dance and the breast cancer dance as well. Brandon's solo was awesome as was Jeanine's. It was a wonderful evening and the night went by so fast. The costumes were great too. A great night of amazing talent.

  • so so performance

by dnctchr on 9/21/09Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 3 out of 5

the show was ok - it was the first one, so some rocky lifts and turns. The amount of times they made fun of the russian folk dance was annoying. once could be a little amusing, 4 times just became an insult to the russians who might actually like their folk dancing, and an insult to the choreographer.

  • Season 5 Doesn't Dissapoint!

by TuckersGirl on 9/21/09Verizon Wireless Arena - ManchesterRating: 5 out of 5

As an avid Season 5 lover, I was surely excited prior to the show but let me preface by saying that the opening night for this season's SYTYCD tour didn't disappoint! Dancing many of the public's favorite routines, everyone was on the ball! Although a bit nervous in-between dances (when they would introduce the story and choreographer for each number), they didn't lack confidence when hitting the stage to dance. Hitting all the moves and feeding from the audience's energy, Season 5 did a phenomenal job. From Janine and Phillip's season opener hip-hop routine of 'Mad" to Melissa and Ade's tribute to breast cancer, they performed all the hits. As amazing as watching the infamous "butt dance" and "Jai Ho" Bollywood routines were on TV, they are THAT much more amazing in person. Recommended for people of all ages, this year's SYTYCD tour was a hit. Now, if we could only get them to reduce their prices on merchandise! (A t-shirt is $35, never mind the $60 sweatshirt or $25 program!)

  • Pretty Great

    by KC13 on 9/21/09Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 4 out of 5

Fabulous show with many routines we loved - a few we liked less but we realize that is always going to happen. The ligts were great and they all did a wonderful job. We loved Philip in the show. There needs to be improvement in the graphics on the screens - it was difficult and sometimes impossible to read the blurred names and titles on video clips. That should not have happened. Also, whoever is shooting the side videos of the routines on stage should be showning the whole dancer and not their upper torso. We were sitting in floor seats and sometimes it was hard to see their feet and when you looked at the screens it wasn't showing their feet either. Maybe the stage needs to be higher for better visibility, otherwise, I would not pay for floor seats. One other thing, during the entire show they were wearing/promoting all the products (shirts, pants, dvds, etc.) YET when we left there was not sales table to purchase from. The only one we saw during intermission was on an upper tier in the back. This seems like a huge missed opportunity as we - and probably many others - would have purchased on the way out.

  • Amazing show, worth the money!

The show was stocked full of great music, dancing and recaps. We were in the "nosebleeds" but could see everything fine at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The show was fun and exciting, and worth every penny.

  • Best of SYTYCD

by FiestyMaria on 9/21/09Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - ManchesterRating: 4 out of 5

I love "So you Think You Could Dance" and I never miss an episode, helps that I dvr it. I really enjoyed the show, but was hoping for new routines I have seen almost all of them because I watch the show so much. The one routine I had never seen is when they all came out and danced to a spin off of the russian folk dance and the boys took of the shirts.Which was really funny & good. My cousin who I brought with me to the show, really enjoyed it more since she doesn not regularly watch the show.
