  • Loved it

by Mrs Williams on 3/18/19Bergen Performing Arts Center - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

This event was a early birthday gift for my husband. He enjoyed seeing all of the artists performances. It was awesome! Just slightly warm inside. I guess they didnt want to turn the AC on at the hall.

  • Slick Rick & Doug E Fresh

  • Not so Slick Rick

by DJBLV on 10/17/16Hapmpton Coliseum Block Party - HamptonRating: 2 out of 5

There is a definite buzz for classic established old school artist right now but with that comes a responsibility from the artist. If you are not ready to do a show, don't accept the booking. Don't tarnish a good memory with an unprepared unenthusiastic performance. Rick came out not looking "slick" at all. As descriptive as his lyrics have been about his style there was little to no thought put into what he wore on stage. Even getting past his choice of clothes his performance was lethargic and barely audible at times. Doug E did his best to carry Rick but it was apparent he should have left Rick at home on the couch.

  • Waaaaayyyyy too short for the money spent.

by Saaj on 2/1/16Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Although Slick Rick tried his hardest the show was way too short for the money that I spent on tickets. The show started at nine but Slick Rock didn't come out until about 10 and was off stage by 10:30pm!!!!!! There was no after party or meet and greet. I was thoroughly disappointed by how fast the show ended.

  • Slick Rick & the surprise special guests were good

    by TimmyT123 on 2/13/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the show. Rakim had a medical emergency and couldn't perform :( so Jadakiss filled in for him. I was very disappointed Rakim couldn't perform, but things happen and I still enjoyed the show despite the fact that Rakim couldn't perform. Jadakiss did a pretty good job filling in and it was cool to see Canibus and Biz Markie. I really hope you guys can get Rakim back next year---since he wasn't able to perform this year due to a medical emergency.

  • Slick Rick did that!!!

by SybRanee on 2/10/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Ole skool hip hop never dies!!! Slick Rick was on point, as were the Dee Jays who hosted the event!!! Rakim was unable to make it so Jada Kiss turned the crowd up!!! We were there for 6 hours and enjoyed every bit of it!!! Shout out to Howard Theatre for keeping these artists relevant by showing them love!!!

Rakim did not show up! Slick ricks performance was not good at all. I should have skipped this altogether !

  • Slick Rick & Rakim

by Anonymous on 2/10/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

To me the show was NOT as entertaining as last year's show. With Rakim not showing up and the last minute replacement of Jada Kiss was just....unpleasing. I will not be returning for another Slick Rick Event....Though the Howard Theater is Gorgeous and I totally love it. Food was a lil dry.

  • Where was Rakim?

by youaretryingtokeepmefromr on 2/10/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

Not only was Rakim not there, but the wait for there show to begin was ridiculous. Don't tell me the show starts at 8pm if you are really just waiting for the house to fill up before you get started.

  • Rakim was a no show

by Mellam on 2/10/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I like Jadakiss, but I was extremely disappointed that Rakim was a no show. I purchased the tickets in August of 2014 and would have preferred another old school artist over Jadakiss.

  • Thank God for Biz Markie

    by ET941911 on 2/10/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

The show was a mess from the start. Had no idea Rakim was not performing until we were in the building. The warm ups and opening acts were terrible. Slick Rick came out and did his thing for real, but again Thank God for Biz Mark. He and Slick Rick together were amazing. The rest of the show was awful

The Howard Theatre is a really nice venue. I didnt like that patrons were not notified that Rakim would not be performing. Also there was to much time btween the acts.

  • Disappointed that Rakim didn't perform!

    by Msimon1999 on 2/10/15Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Very disappointed Rakim didn't perform and it wasn't announced he would not be there!

  • Amazing performance

by DALoveDeluxe on 5/10/14B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Slick Rick the Ruler! The show was so much fun. His performance was more than I expected given previous reviews. He rapped for over two hours.

  • Slick Rick took me back!

by Density on 5/10/14B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I had a great time reminiscing about old times with old school rap and dances. Slick Rick happens to be 1 of my favorite. It would have been nice to see a surprise appearance by Doug E Fresh.

  • awesome!

by lynndsay on 5/8/14bb kings - nycRating: 5 out of 5

Lots of people wrote negative reviews.... I don't know why.... I saw Slick Rick at BB Kings last night, he killed it, rocked it, brought old school back, even if it was just for 1 hour, well worth it and I would love to see him again. Spreading a positive message to the young and allowing the older to reminisce of "better days" He sounded great, like himself, did all the favorites, and put on a great show. Love love love slick rick!!!

  • Slick Rick and Rakim were amazing. Real Hip Hop.

by Mobutterfly on 3/3/14Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Bring as much old school back as possible. I love the vibe at the Howard Theater.

  • Both artists were not prepared for the concert

by OlSkoolHiphopLover on 3/3/14Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

I know hiphop is about free spirit and letting the rhymes flow but Slick Rick and Rakim just showed up and gave the audience a street level concert. There was no coordination between the MC and DJ. At one point, Rakim was just killing time trying to think of what songs he said give us next. He totally lost the audience that at certain times, It was so quiet in the venue that you could hear a pin drop. We left when Rakim calls Rick back on the stage and they are trying to find a microphone for them to do some type of duo or rap battle. I know they are now older in their careers but at least have a rehearsal before jumping out of your son's car onto a stage where patrons really came to see a show.

  • Old school rap at its best!

by Kelajo on 3/3/14Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Slick Rick and Rakim were fantastic! Slick had on his trademark jewelry and performed all of my favorite songs. Rakim was amazing & so freaking cool. I beleive he has found the fountain of youth bc he hasn't aged at all!! My only complaint is that Rakims set & DJ were way too loud and the DJ kept requesting to be turned up even louder. And the opening act (can't & don't want to remember their names) was garbage.

  • Rakim's flows were breathtaking!

by Carabelle on 3/3/14Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The DJs were amazing, the stage presence was phenomenal. Bus loads of NY folks came down to see the concert. It was nothing short of fantastic to see two legends give the people what they want.
