  • Excellent Show

by FWBDate on 6/4/13City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 4 out of 5

This was an excellent show on many levels; there're only two 'buts' in this review. The warm-up band Heaven Below may be talented, and seemed to get a bit better during their set, but, the sound was awful (definitely too loud, yet mixed with so much midrange that you didn't feel any bass impact at all). Please note that I wasn't the only one in our immediate vicinity (middle of venue where sound should be optimum) that commented on how bad their sound was. I suspect they will sound much better if their sound man is unable to show and any random audience member sits in on the sound board... Thankfully, Slaughter and Great White didn't disappoint at all sound-wise...they both sounded much better than Heaven Below...plenty loud without the too-bright sound (okay, shrillness) Heaven Below presented. Slaughter...what can I say...I was prepared for a band I'd enjoy while waiting for Great White; it turned out that watching Slaughter's current drummer, Zoltan Chaney, was the highlight of the evening! I'd never seen him before, and I can only say that he's the most entertaining musician I've seen in quite a while. I'm not saying he's technically the best drummer I've heard recently, only that watching him perform was incredible! Great White, with their current lead singer Terry Ilous, performed admirably (here's that second 'but'), however, I personally have always equated Great White with Jack Russell's vocals more than any other single ingredient, and I was disappointed that he wasn't performing with them. I do hope to catch his version of Great White (also on tour now) for a cross-reference. Now that I'm past the 'but' I can say that Terry Ilous is convincing on their old material, and even the new song they performed that Terry Ilous wrote was good, so I'm going to stick with the overall excellent rating. Overall, given the very reasonable price, an excellent date night!

  • Slaughter in Anaheim 2013

by Sncboom2k on 6/3/13City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

I have to be honest we only watched the Slaughter portion of the show. So no review on the opening bands or Great White. Slaughter was great. All of the band members were on top of their game. Musically the show was excellent and very entertaining! Mark can still hit those high notes with no problem. The drummer and bassist put on a great show of theatrics and Mark walked out through the crowd singing to the ladies. It was very personable and just a great show. Nice to see the band holding true to everything they produced early on.

Excellent show! It was great to finally see two bands form my youth live and they did not disappoint. The guys in Slaughter can still rock and Mark Slaughter can still hit all those high notes! Oh..and I have to mention the sick drummer in Slaughter. That guy is truly a sight to behold. talk about skills! Great white was incredible too. Excellent mix of rock and blues. Sounded perfect. Mark Kendall is still incredible. Lots of energy and very tight playing.

I can only speak for me, but maybe it's because i haven't been to a concert in 20 years, but I was blown away on how great both bands sounded. Definately better the their recorded versions.

There was no mention of Great White replacing the singer. Big let down.

Slaughter consisiting of Mark Slaughter, Dana Strum, Blando, and Zoltan Chaney rocked the house. They have rocking for over two decades. The guys really appreciate their true fans.

by Jamgirl7 on 10/2/11Hard Rock Cafe Tampa at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

Saw Slaughter at the Hard Rock in Tampa, FL 9/28/11. They were still rockin after all these years. Only complaint is that they did not end with Slaughter songs and did not play "Days Gone By"

  • One of the best times I've had in recent years

by Mark2222 on 10/2/11Hard Rock Cafe Tampa at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa - TampaRating: 4 out of 5

Faaaantastic show! The venue was intimate and the crowd was of modest size -- I really like that. We were right up close to the stage, interacting with the Slaughter band members. Guitarist Blando took the time to come out -- twice -- to meet us and make small talk. The music was fantastic as each of these guys are just incredible musicians. Slaughter still hits the high notes, Blando shreds, the bassist has so much energy, and the drummer? Holy crap. He provided the comedic entertainment the entire night! Jumping around, throwing sticks and doing tricks, crashing cymbals with high kicks, all without missing a beat! The band is tight, owing to most of them playing together for so long. This is a show worth taking in.

  • Fantastic

Loved the show...the VIP tickets weren't really worth it. Should have saved the money for the Meet N Greet before the show. Otherwise the same fantastic show they have always put on. However, Zoltan was covering for the other replacement drummer and wanted $20 for a drum stick. Sorry buddy, Blas was a better drummer and gave them away during a show. I've got two that I will never part with because of that reason alone.

  • slaughter was excellent!!

  • Slaughter killed!

by PSYCHKR on 3/28/11Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeRating: 5 out of 5

I was lucky enough to see Slaughter perform in the late 1980s/early 1990s so I was hopeful that Mark still had his voice. He certainly did not disappoint! The show was great. The guys were energetic and the music was tight. I don't know who the kid is that drummed for them that night but he was phenomenal! I've seen alot of concerts through the years and he was the most amazing drummer I've ever seen! I have to admit I was disappointed to see that Jani Lane had cancelled (best wishes Jani!) since I've never seen him or Warrant live but that was soon forgotten when Slaughter took the stage. See this band!
