Slander in Concert
Derek Andersen and Scott Land had only been DJing for a year when they found themselves totally blown away by the grandeur of a big trance music festival in 2010. They looked at each other and vowed to make it up on a stage as big as that one someday.
Flash forward to 2018, and the pair now known as Slander have played the main stage Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas for the second year in a row — this time alongside friend and trap music star Nghtmre — underneath endless firework explosions and the famously extravagant light show of the EDC stage.
Makers of self-described "heaven trap" music, Slander's live sets follow a 75/25 rule, giving a crowd mostly hard, heavy bass, but also mixing in the melodic vibes that set them apart within the trap realm. From past Vegas club residencies to their "Gud Vibrations" quasi-fest named after their megahit, Slander always look to leave their #SlanderFam fan base with the same emotional and spiritual takeaways from the music that they felt at that party in 2010. Talk about paying it forward.
Slander Background
As EDM surged in Southern California in the late 2000s, Slander's Derek Andersen and Scott Land met in their fraternity at UC Irvine. The DJ pair found themselves with a built-in party circuit in which to enact their sets, and they became regulars on the Orange County scene.
It wasn't until they attended L.A.'s Icon Collective (an electronic music production school of sorts) that they found their calling as trap music producers and EDM remixers. Slander (the moniker is a mishmash of their names) have remixed tracks for electronic heavyweights like Jack Ü and Gorgon City, as well as pop stars like Adele and Halsey.
Slander's "heaven trap" style brings a distinct euphoric mood to conventional trap music, like on their remix of Above & Beyond's "Love Is Not Enough," as well as on their latest single, "First Time" with Seven Lions and Dabin. They've released music on Diplo's Mad Decent label and frequently play major EDM festivals from Ultra Music Fest to all geographical iterations of EDC.

Getting into the parking lot was easy and getting into the venue was easy. I was confused on how the pit tickets worked but we got our wrist bands pretty easy as well. Great Food but not enough bathrooms. Porty potties will be a must at the next show
Uugghhh this show was so good! They really know how to build up the hype in a small amount of time! I'm sure if they had a 3 hours set it would have been absolutely tremendous. Visuals were spot on! Awesome Lazer show as well!
The show itself was great, however the security was focused on all of the wrong things. There was almost no inspection coming into the venue, not even metal detectors, which undermines the absurdly long list of prohibited items. Once inside, security on the rail would not allow headbanging with hands on the rail, which is ABSURD for a show that features plenty of heavy dubstep. It wasn’t enough to ruin the show, but security made me think about my own safety and did ruin some of the fun to be had at the show.
Played all of my favorite Slander songs and I enjoyed it a lot.
AMAZING, ABSOLUTELY SUCH AN AMAZING TIME! I can’t wait for the next show, I haven’t let myself be so comfortable to dancing and move the way I did this past weekend! It’s been years and slander brought out so much energy from me 🫶🏽
Slander was amazing as always, but the venue was not equipped to hold that many guests. With half the seats empty, the lines for all of the bathrooms were an hour long which was completely unacceptable. People were having to find corners to hide in and some people even used the elevator. Security was unreasonably over-controlling and telling people to scoot over for absolutely no reason and shining lights in their faces as they danced. No one is in your way, you don’t need to walk in front of the people dancing and enjoying the music and make them move for nothing. Staff and the bathroom definitely put a damper on the event. Will not be attending the Long Beach Arena again. They obviously do not understand the edm community and how we are all about love and respect. Staff should take note. (Only 1-2 staff members were exceptions to this)
Greta music and sound, great vibes, wish the bathroom lines weren’t so long though, I almost missed an entire set trying to go pee
Amazing event, wish the backpack rule was less strict about the 1ft size. Slander was amazing! Wish it was longer!! Also ticket prices maybe a bit cheaper lol… but the bathrooms… there needs to be more bathrooms or dedicated VIP bathrooms… overall great event
Slander absolutely played the roof off of the place!! They were so much fun in absolute thrill to be in the crowd with such a cool venue set up! The lights, the lasers, the pyrotechnics, it was all amazing and well thought out. The visuals and the screen all across we out of this world! That venue is so cool and I will definitely be going back !
Overall, the show was great but the venue… I personally didn’t like how it was very small for the amount of people that attended.. The lines for the restrooms were crazy long and just very limited. Didn’t really like the venue this time around. Previous event they had in Long Beach was better and was outdoors.
Slander performance was great but it was too short and left us hanging. Opening DJs weren't good.
I was standing towards the back next to the tech booth and the sound was incredible/loud, the visuals were amazing with the large screen, and the venue wasn't too packed either with room to dance and headbang.
The show was amazing and the energy was unreal! We love the music and Scott and Derek! Best show ever!! Five star event !!!! The production, along with the lasers and the fire was out of this world !!!
Such an amazing show!!! Performances were all on time, security was easy, much lines were quick. Only thing was that there could have been more beverage kiosks because the lines for drills were insanely long.
They put on a great show! Visuals, sound quality, and full experience was enjoyable!
For the amount of hype some artists get, they don’t compare to Slander. The amount of energy that Slander brings to his set is every you expect times ten! I left this set feeling like the money I spent should have been more, Slander puts on an amazing show that every and anyone must see!
Can never go wrong with slander. Always has perfect sets.
It was everything I could have ever imagined. Beautiful opening acts and of course the duo Slander.
First half was boring and quiet. The audience even seemed bored. Got better later on with more popular songs. Closing act was way better.
