Slander in Concert
Derek Andersen and Scott Land had only been DJing for a year when they found themselves totally blown away by the grandeur of a big trance music festival in 2010. They looked at each other and vowed to make it up on a stage as big as that one someday.
Flash forward to 2018, and the pair now known as Slander have played the main stage Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas for the second year in a row — this time alongside friend and trap music star Nghtmre — underneath endless firework explosions and the famously extravagant light show of the EDC stage.
Makers of self-described "heaven trap" music, Slander's live sets follow a 75/25 rule, giving a crowd mostly hard, heavy bass, but also mixing in the melodic vibes that set them apart within the trap realm. From past Vegas club residencies to their "Gud Vibrations" quasi-fest named after their megahit, Slander always look to leave their #SlanderFam fan base with the same emotional and spiritual takeaways from the music that they felt at that party in 2010. Talk about paying it forward.
Slander Background
As EDM surged in Southern California in the late 2000s, Slander's Derek Andersen and Scott Land met in their fraternity at UC Irvine. The DJ pair found themselves with a built-in party circuit in which to enact their sets, and they became regulars on the Orange County scene.
It wasn't until they attended L.A.'s Icon Collective (an electronic music production school of sorts) that they found their calling as trap music producers and EDM remixers. Slander (the moniker is a mishmash of their names) have remixed tracks for electronic heavyweights like Jack Ü and Gorgon City, as well as pop stars like Adele and Halsey.
Slander's "heaven trap" style brings a distinct euphoric mood to conventional trap music, like on their remix of Above & Beyond's "Love Is Not Enough," as well as on their latest single, "First Time" with Seven Lions and Dabin. They've released music on Diplo's Mad Decent label and frequently play major EDM festivals from Ultra Music Fest to all geographical iterations of EDC.

If you add one thing to your bucket list is a SLANDER show. Do it and thank me later!
Amazing show. Slander sure delivered! The lights and energy they put out makes everything come alive! We felt safe and had a wonderful evening.
Slander was amazing BUT the venue’s rules were insane. Because it was a “concert”, water via a hydration pack was not allowed. Okay fine I’ll buy water… too bad someone stole my wallet. Turns out no one in security has extra free water and even emergency medical didn’t even have water. What a recklessly unsafe venue. Slander should be ashamed of the venue he was at
The best show and best night of my life, me and my wife celebrated our 4 year weeding anniversary by going to Slander. We bought the tickets the day they became available and were beyond excited! The show was absolutely amazing just amazing!! We had so much fun, we both by the end of the night agreed that was the most fun we have ever had period!! The lineup was awesome and meshed together so well! Leotrix was so so good! Wooli was incredible and Slander was amazing!!!!
This is event was not appropriate for all ages. 18+ maybe but definitely not all ages. The show was not at all kid-friendly in my opinion. The stage for the openers was also so small compared to the stage for the main act. Could have been a lot better if the production was better thought through.
Slander Management Team imposed additional rules on admittance without proper postage or informing concert goers. Many people were referring to the WAMU website rules for what is/isn't allowed and when passing through security were informed those rules did not apply and the Slander Management Team had stricter, unlisted rules. This resulted is longer security queues, loss of property (and money) for otherwise permissible items, and the creation of a rather un-"plur" atmosphere. Ticketmaster AND WAMU, listed music starting at 8pm, with doors at 7pm. Many people missed the entire first set (or more) due to the music actually starting at 7pm. Event ended at 11:15pm on a Saturday night. Will unfortunately never attend a Slander event again. 3/10 overall experience, worth $35, not the $93 paid. ***Wooli killed it, he should've been the headliner***
Everything was amazing on a musical and production standpoint. Wish there was more food options in the venue.
wow the production was perfect. the tracklist beautiful and the crowd vibrant as could be
I hate to say that my group and I were rather disappointed in the set confusion that unfortunately wasn’t made clear soon enough. First off the add that went around for months saying Wooli was an opener and was never actually supposed to be on the line up. Then the tickets saying doors at 730 but first act started 645 which was announced only hrs before hand so we weren’t able to change plans to accommodate in time and missed out on the first opener which was rather upsetting… Over all tho it was an amazing show and we all love Slander and can’t wait for them to be back!
First rave and it blew me away one of the best nights of my life!
First thing, it sucked how they changed the time and made it an hr earlier. Not only that the show didnt even last long. The visuals was good. Lazers were good. Slander was good. Just kind of wish there was more or it was a litttle longer
Line up was changed the week of the event and one of the main reasons my group was trying to go was to see the artist that couldn't make it. Not only was this an issue but the whole event was pushed up an hour causing us to miss the first few artists as the event was set for 7:30 and they decided to start a lot earlier than that.
Too slow, lots of random heavy beat drops for ~15 sec and then back to slow vocals. I just wanted to dance and it felt like they were playing with us.
SLANDER really brought the heat with this performance! They played recognizable songs and new music too!
Waited for Slander since they canceled the eye tour. I gotta say it was well worth the wait. The boyz did not dissapoint and cane through with the best show of the year for me so far. Thank you slander and until next time.🔥❤️😎
This was my first time ever seeing slander perform and they did not disappoint! Highly recommend everyone go see them, I know I will go see them every time they are in the area.
Like i said slander, wooli and others artist were perfect but, all the security for that much people? All those step just to go to the bathroom? All the bathroom that was like in a festival? The "real" bathroom only for vip? Thats was a missed for me and it will take a long time for me to go back at olympics stadium for a dubstep show.
Slander and wooli gave an amazing performance! It was exactly what I came to see, to hear, to feel. It was a very good night.
The Dj's were amazing, yet the sound needed that extra oomph, you get from an inside event/rave. I feel like the set before the main (wooli) should've been as loud as Slander was, and the main louder.
