Slander in Concert
Derek Andersen and Scott Land had only been DJing for a year when they found themselves totally blown away by the grandeur of a big trance music festival in 2010. They looked at each other and vowed to make it up on a stage as big as that one someday.
Flash forward to 2018, and the pair now known as Slander have played the main stage Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas for the second year in a row — this time alongside friend and trap music star Nghtmre — underneath endless firework explosions and the famously extravagant light show of the EDC stage.
Makers of self-described "heaven trap" music, Slander's live sets follow a 75/25 rule, giving a crowd mostly hard, heavy bass, but also mixing in the melodic vibes that set them apart within the trap realm. From past Vegas club residencies to their "Gud Vibrations" quasi-fest named after their megahit, Slander always look to leave their #SlanderFam fan base with the same emotional and spiritual takeaways from the music that they felt at that party in 2010. Talk about paying it forward.
Slander Background
As EDM surged in Southern California in the late 2000s, Slander's Derek Andersen and Scott Land met in their fraternity at UC Irvine. The DJ pair found themselves with a built-in party circuit in which to enact their sets, and they became regulars on the Orange County scene.
It wasn't until they attended L.A.'s Icon Collective (an electronic music production school of sorts) that they found their calling as trap music producers and EDM remixers. Slander (the moniker is a mishmash of their names) have remixed tracks for electronic heavyweights like Jack Ü and Gorgon City, as well as pop stars like Adele and Halsey.
Slander's "heaven trap" style brings a distinct euphoric mood to conventional trap music, like on their remix of Above & Beyond's "Love Is Not Enough," as well as on their latest single, "First Time" with Seven Lions and Dabin. They've released music on Diplo's Mad Decent label and frequently play major EDM festivals from Ultra Music Fest to all geographical iterations of EDC.

I understand that the sprinklers went off but slander was doing amazing . I feel like the Coca Cola Roxy honestly did the easiest thing they could and kicked everyone out instead of figuring out an alternative to continue the show however .
Everything leading up to Slander was perfect and I was very excited because it was going to be my first time seeing Slander. Their set was amazing with all of the laser and indoor pyro, but as soon as the sprinklers were set off everyone was confused on whether the concert was going to continue or not. They were 50 minutes into their set, and I think everyone including myself were sad things had to end early. Hope to see them again soon in Atlanta and maybe at an outside venue where the indoor pyro is more appropriate
Title says it all. Everyone deserve a credit back due to the fire alarm ending the production early.
SLANDER’s show was amazing until the pyro from the show made the sprinklers go off, but what made SLANDER better than other DJs, they value us, their fans, and offered ticket holders credits for the interrupted night. Amazing. Will continue to be their fans for years!
The venue wasn't adequately prepared to deal with the pyros and I pretty much paid 117 to see Space Laces
From opening to ending, everything was so amazing! We had a blast! Thanks!
set ended an hour early bc of pyrotechnics making the fire alarm. when we were evacuating he didn’t even use his stage a microphone to let us know that we should evacuate, we just followed the crowd. no refund yet. before the incident music was good and lazers were amazing, i wish the used the lazers more tho!
The two opener DJs hyped the crowd up well and Slander definitely kept it going. I was so excited as this was my first time seeing them live I didn’t know the pyrotechnics would be as crazy as it was. However it proved to be a little too much because it set off the fire sprinklers and we all had to leave 45 mins into the set hence I’m giving it a 3-star review. I’d have rather gone without the fire for indoor settings; the lights and video backdrop were plenty so Slander should save pyrotechnics for outdoor shows
Slander is performance was sooo lit that the Coca Cola Roxy couldn’t handle it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Event got rained out due to sprinklers going off. Not the best experience. Sad I did not see complete set.
Show ended an hour early because of the pyro setting on the sprinklers. Are we getting reimbursed?
Terrible...The pyro set off the fire sprinklers . It was absolutely unexpected and an awful experience
The Union is not the place for edm shows. The sound system is garbage
Overall event was great. Only tip for attendees is dress warm for the outdoor shows
Great experience. The music was great, people were amazing. Glad I went. It was a bit chilly but manageable. Love Slander!
One of the best shows in Sacramento. Thank you for coming to show Sacramento some love!
Trivecta and slander killed it! Fireworks and all!
Awesome concert!! Love his music and style. Arrived there just in time to see him. The venue was okay. It was a bit too chilly out for me, but would be great for summer concerts.
Overall the event was very fun despite the weather but the audio was fluctuating the whole show and the venue only allows clear bags but no information was given out about this making lines, security, and lockers a hectic experience.
