"To be honest my vibe gets killed the most when I'm concentrating too much on what is around me and thinking too much about it all," Moore states. "I have the most fun when I let my inhibitions check out, right at that point things just start to happen."
It started to go well for Sonny when he filtered out the noise and distraction of his world as a solo artist and started mining the ephemeral moments he had been sharing with friends in clubs and parties across the city he calls home since his mid-teen years. The restless, urgent and kaleidoscopic sounds of EDM and bass music had spoken to him for the best part of a decade, one day he just started talking back.
"Making music is the same as DJing," he offers. "You continue along the path that leaves you most inspired. When you think too much you put limits on what is possible, the best parts are always instinctual rather than something too considered or planned out."
AMAZING SHOW, the 360 rotating stage really was amazing
The night was amazing, if it were only featuring Dada Life and Skrillex then it could have been one of the best Smaller shows I've been too. Don't get me wrong, Nadastrom (Person who opened the event) did his job and got the crowd moving. Once Dada Life came on I couldn't help myself from going crazy. The only performer I couldn't find myself liking was Benga, (which must've not been his night considering I've seen him live before and he threw down) besides from him turning down the music to talk MULTIPLE times on the microphone, he messed up once which where the music Completely turned off for a moment and then let his friend try DJ'ing which resulted in the music turning off Again. Now it could've just been me but that started bringing my "party momentum" down. In the end, once Skrillex, the lights, and all the performers came on with him the party started up again. In the end, it was an Amazing night. Crowd, security and the cops were all friendly too me and my friends. Hope to go to another event like this again!
the line getting into this event was probably the smoothest and most efficient of all the EDM dance events I have ever been to. the location couldn't be any better, the LA Live environment made the event. Nadastrom, Dada Life, Benga, and Skrillex all played on this insane revolving stage which was perfectly placed in the center of the tent area. The sound system was great, no matter where you were the bass hit you right in the chest. I'm so glad I got to see Skrillex again, he is beyond amazing.
I was very unimpressed by this event. I saw Skrillex at the Warfield in San Francisco and this show was unbelievable in comparison. I can't believe I had to pay, wait in line for over an hour, get frisked and see Skrillex for 1/2 the show because the other 1/2 I was watching VIPs on stage sitting down and drinking. Not my ideal way of watching Skrillex. I could care less about Jared Letto staring down at the headbanging crowd... it was very bizarre. I wonder how much money the event received for having the Avengers cast on stage. SELL-OUT. The music was still good and the actual event space was incredible.
Absolutely Amazing live, venue was a little small but overall great experience.
show was great. he really gets in to his shows. now the line to get in to the la live event deck sucked though.
Good lineup & Skrillex always puts on a great set!
Dada Life one of the opening acts was incredible and then it was downhill from there. Skrillex had some gorgeous girls dancing on stage but that element became a distraction after 20 minutes. The rotating stage was a novel idea but it promoted a disconnect from the audience. It's hard to feel connected and in tune with the dj when his back is to you half the time. Additionally the set was too short leaving us all wanting more with nowhere to go on a Sunday night in downtown L.A. Too bad!
ABSOLUTELYYYY AMAZINGGGG!!! just sad it ended soo early... =[
Skrillex rocked!!!Would've given it 5 stars but the event ended at 11 huge bummer!!! Also the venue needed some major ventilation, it was soooo hot inside the tent everyone had to keep going outside to cool down some big fans would've been awesome!
This concert was absolutely freakin' awesome! It was so loud the air in my lungs was vibrating. I had read that Skrillex was not good live, but that is completely wrong. I had expected his segues to be a tad rocky given his experience level, but that was not the case. The transitions were smooth and utterly danceable. The light show rocked. I also liked a couple of the opening acts. Kinda a lot of teeny-boppers since it was 16 and up, but that wasn't too bad. Only real complaint is that I could've listened all night!
I definitely enjoyed 12th Planet and Skrillex...I missed the first two so I can't really say how they were...tickets were a lot cheaper...it was fun...the crowd was crazy...it was all good I will definitely need to see Skrillex again.
Best show I've been to in a while! Want to see Skrillex again soon!!
one of the best club venue shows I have ever been too
i have gone to a lot of concerts through out the years and 3 previous ones before this this year alone: j. cole, wale, and big sean, but hands down this was probably the most hype concert I've ever attended
The openers were great and when Skrillex came on, everyone lost it. The concert was AMAZING to say the least. Everybody killed it, and the cell was awesome.
Show was amazing. Opening dj's rocked. Skrillex killed it, did some sik mash-ups of his and other songs. Light show was insane. Overall awesomeness.
Wow this was horrible!!!! Dont waste your money!!!
The concert was one of my favorite moments of 2011 for sure. Skrillex, 12th Planet and everyone else killed every song. almost every other fan there was cool, friendly, and talkative to strangers whether it was about the concert or everyday life. There were only a few exceptions to that, but what concert doesnt have "those guys"
What a great show... The crowd's energy was great, the opening acts were great (especially 12th Planet), and Skrillex's overall performance & stage setup were AMAZING! I've been to quite a few shows, spanning many different genres of music, but Skrillex definitely stands out as my favorite so far. ...He's a must-see.
