An awesome job and I was amazed by the performance of all. This was my first visit but will not be my last, I will return again.
The Singing Christmas Tree was great performance at a reasonable cost. Music was Excellent!
Though it was beautiful and the singing and other additions were great, some of the conversations among the characters (the mice) were more adult oriented - it would have been good to have more "kid" songs, too - ALso, it was about 15 minutes late starting which makes for a long performance with little ones. Overall, lovely - but would have been better with more children's songs.
This was one of the best Christmas shows ever. Very professional, a variety of acts and skits, wonderful orchestra and singing, both the "tree" and the solos/quartets. Excellent! Well worth the price.
my daughter just turned three when we saw this. she needs a little maturity and the show needs a little more "kid" and fewer mature carols.
We didn't know what to expect, but it was nice. Thought nit would be too young for my 11 yrs. old but it was fine. Just too short. It was all of 40 min.
This was a horrible production. My children ages 11,6 & 7 asked to leave 10 minutes into the show and about a 1/2 hour into it was unbearable we left . For $189 for 5 including the awful breakfast with Santa we expected MUCH more.
You enter the building and feel very welcomed but thats were it ends! You get in line to get your breakfast 1 soggy Chic- fil- a sandwich for the adults 2 mini chicken sandwiches for the kids 1/2 a cup of orange juice or 1/2 cup of coffee. Santa comes out and my 6 year old leans over and said to me "Mommy, he's not the real Santa is he"? I could not lie to her because his real mustache is hanging out of the fake one. I informed her that indeed this is one of Santa's helpers! Very disappointed!!
Very disappointing considering the price of admission ($45). Performance quality was what I would expect from a middle school or church choir. Music selection and arrangement was boring and predictable. Tonal quality of the choir was bland with no recognizable harmony from the male voices. Dance groups were not synchronized, choreography was repetitive and dancers couldn't find center stage. Festival singers were good, with exception of voice projection, which many of the singers were facing stage left or right instead of toward the audience. 'Impromptu' a cappella group was really awful: off pitch, male harmony was absent, and song choices were boring. Probably the most cheesy part of the performance were the 'puppet' polar bears. Polar bears don't hibernate, but apparently in this play they do.
If you can't get to NYC to see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show, the Singing Christmas Tree is the next closest thing!
Dancers cute, sound problems very unprofessional, 3 and 5 year olds were bored..over prived for what we got..
The show was just ok. I will not see it again! What I really didn't appreciate was the way the tickets were sold. I purchased the tickets for the Lunch with Santa assuming it included the Singing Christmas Tree. The tickets stated "lunch with Santa after the 11:00 show" and GAVE US SEAT NUMBERS for Ovens auditorium. I arrived with my son to the show to find out that we didn't have tickets for the show, just lunch! I had to pay an additional $12 per ticket so we could watch the actual Singing Christmas tree. I was not the only person standing in line at the ticket counter confused and VERY FRUSTRATED. The lunch was ridiculous! I paid $7 for 3 tiny chicken nuggets, a bag of Lays chips, a chocolate chip cookie and 1/2 glass of lemonade. For the adults, they substituted a chicken sandwich for the nuggets. I wasted over $50 for a mediocre show and some nuggets and chips! And WHY give seat numbers for lunch (if that was what the seat numbers were for) when it was just folding tables and chairs with plastic tablecloths?!!!
It was nice listen some Christmas songs! My kids enjoyed the bears and puppets most! But as an adult, for me the production looks like haven't been changed since the 80's. I think it has potential to be very cute, but need some update. It was just ok!
The orchestra was much too loud and overpowered the choir. The Impromptu group should be eliminated altogether. You could hardly hear them and often sounded off key. Too many dancers and other distractions. I go to hear the choir. The most disappointing part was the jazzed-up version of the Hallelujah Chorus. Handel surely turned over in his grave. It was utter disrespect, as were the jazzy version of carols. Last year was a wonderful performance, but this year's was so disappointing that I will think long and hard before I go back.
I was disappointed. I have heard about it for years and was never able to make it. It just so happened to work out that I could go Saturday evening. I have been to many, many shows over the years so the service and staff at Ovens was wonderful, as well as the Elves passing out candy canes. However, I was very disappointed in the show itself. While the singers were good and the dancers were cute, it just seemed to be the same thing over and over again. I felt like I was at a high school choral concert, which would have received RAVE REVIEWS. Unfortunately, this was a show I paid $96 to attend. It was not worth it and we ended up leaving at intermission.
Was not totally geared for Children. It seemed as if they were trying to entertain both Adults and Children....but mostly Adults. Many, if not most, of the songs were Adult type Christmas songs. I couldn't help but notice the kids fidgeting and talking during the Adult type songs. The talking was so much at times we could not hear dialoge. I took my 4 year old Granddaughter who was bored much of the show. I do not plan to attend agani.
We loved, we didn't expected that show. My son watched so quiet and impressed. So nice but too short.
First time see the Singing Christmas Tree and loved every moment.
Fantastic! Worth every dollar. I will be anxious to come back next year!
I took my 6 year old son and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We arrived a few minutes late and I was very pleased that the usher did not try to seat us until the girl had finished her song. AND, we missed the giving out of the jingle bells, but the lady that checked our tickets at the door gave hers up for my son.
