    WAY More Than I Expected!

by DonnaBCS on 1/8/13Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Kept me glued to my seat. Set design, dancing, singing, acting....NEVER a dull moment! This is my new go to theatre. Not a bad seat in the house. The space between the row you sit in and the seats in front of you were "double" , so you could pass in front of people and not touch them. I didn't even notice the people sitting in front of me! This is my new go to theatre.

Singing in the Rain brought a smile to my face!

by Anonymous on 1/7/13Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I had only seen snipits of the movie, so went in not really knowing the whole premise of the story other than a guy falls in love with a girl and sings and dances in the rain. I was so glad that I went to see this on stage! It is a great story set in the 1920's before sound became part of the Hollywood movies. Revolves around two Hollywood stars of silent pictures Don & Lina Lockwood and a girl Kathy that Don falls in love with. The story is sweet, fresh, and funny. The actress who plays Lina is superb playing a star with an awful voice! The actor who plays supporting role Cosmo (Don's lifetime friend) is great as the comedic relief. Overall the singing, choreography, and stage was fabulous. Beware sitting in the first 2-3 rows. You are given ponchos for that famous rain scene which is right before intermission and a refrain with nearly the whole cast at the end. I have seen many plays and this is by far in my top 5!

The musical was great - such wonderful singing and the dancing was amazing! A very talented cast. Loved the scenes where it actually rained! We had a bite to eat before and dessert after in the lounge area - all in all - a wonderful night out! Two thumbs up!

Singing in the Rain was unbelievably good!

by Bossmare92 on 1/7/13Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

It is by far the best play I have seen at this venue. The staging, singing and dancing made you feel like you were on Broadway. I would have sat through another performance immediately following if I could have.

Singing in the Rain was magical!

by JLLB on 1/7/13Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I took my 89 year old father-in-law and he was so mesmerized by the show; his eyes were glued to the actors fast tapping feet and he sang to the music. What a great experience for him to see such a wonderful performance of one of his all time favorite movies! It was fabulous!

    Singin had us singing!

by mcbertran on 1/7/13Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Great seats, great sound, very talented actors and actresses. This was not our first play at Drury Lane, but we are always pleasantly surprised with the production! It was also hysterical to watch the first two rows of the audience put on rain ponchos when the title song began.

Singing In The Rain - Fun Time

by cmsima on 1/5/13Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The plot is a bit slow. But, the "rain" scene was great. I also have a new found respect for tap dancing. The performers evoked a fun and ease in their dancing that was infectious.

Singin' and Dancin' in the Rain!

by TMladic on 1/3/13Drury Lane Theater - Oak Brook

What a nice surprise this show was! After seeing the movie several times, it was neat to watch it come to life with wonderful singers, dancers and a great stage show overall. The best part was the "Singin' in the Rain" dance number with rain falling from the stage sky! The first 3 rows were given rain panchos and we were in the 4th row and did not get wet at all. The rain came down at the end again and closed out the show in the proper way. It's a must see at at a great venue and am glad we decided to spend New Year's Eve at Drury Lane.

Show closely followed the movie version, and the actors did a great job of imitating the screen stars. The actress who played Lina Lamont really did a wonderful rendition, as did the actor in the part of Cosmo Brown. Plush seating, great meal, and an enjoyable night out!

The entertainment value this show offered is off the charts. I went here with my girlfriend for New Years and it was a total blast (we are both 21 years old)! The audience was mostly older people (average age of 58 I would guess), but that didn't detract from the energy of the show. NOTE: in the first 3 rows i.e. AA, BB, CC will get ponchos. It's no big deal as there are only little splashes for about 10 seconds of the show. If you are not in the center section you can honestly get away without using the poncho no problem.

Singin' in the Rain a real treat!

by LF52 on 1/1/13Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Kudos to all of the actors in this production. A wonderful cast and fabulous orchestra made for a fun night with the family. (I think some of the reviewers need to tone down the criticism). A joyful rendition of an old favorite.

Highly recommend Singin In the Rain

by Lov2dance on 12/31/12Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

First, we enjoyed an excllent dinner at your restaurant before the show. I love the music from this play. I wasn't quite sure how you were going to pull off the rain scene. It's the best part in the movie with Gene Kelly. You didn't disappoint. How Fun!!! The actress that played Lina did an exceptional job with how she talked. I would imagine that is very hard to retrain your brain to talk like that. I left the theater humming a tune and wanting to do my own dance in the rain. Thanks for a most enjoyable evening!
