About

Andrew McManus Presents is pleased to announce that legendary Scottish rock band Simple Minds are heading to Australia. They will play an exclusive show in Sydney's luxurious Lyric Theatre in Star City on Thursday, February 25th, before heading to Melbourne for their one off performance at the Melbourne Grand Prix Sunday, March 28th. The band will then continue onto New Zealand again for one exclusive concert at The Civic, Auckland on Tuesday 30 March.

Simple Minds rose to worldwide popularity in the mid 80s to early 90s securing a string of successful hit singles, the best known being their number one worldwide hit Don't You (Forget About Me) plus hit singles Waterfront, Promised You a Miracle, Alive and Kicking and Belfast Child. They've experienced many milestones in their 30-year career, including performing at Live Aid and headlining the Freedomfest concerts for the then-imprisoned Nelson Mandela.

Simple Minds Sydney performance will be with support from popular late 80's & 90's Australian band 1927.  Formed in Melbourne in 1987 with James Barton on drums, Bill Frost on bass guitar, his brother Garry Frost on guitar and keyboards, and Eric Weideman on vocals, guitar and keyboards, their major hit songs were "If I Could", "Compulsory Hero" and "That's When I Think of You" from their multi-platinum #1 album ...ish.  In 2009, 1927 celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a national tour which has continued into 2010 with various shows nationally.

    Good Show !!!

by MetallicaRocker on 11/1/18Orpheum Theatre - Vancouver

The show itself was pretty damn good. First time in almost 40 years that Simple Minds has played in British Columbia. Good interaction with the audience and the music was phenomenal. Happy I got a chance to see them as I’ll probably never be able to see again.

    Best concert ever!

by Rustybottoms on 10/31/18The Masonic - San Francisco

The band was amazing and the sound perfect! I felt I was in a time machine. Jim Kerr had a voice that was as crisp and sharp as it was in the 80's. Bravo!

    Simple Minds puts it on!

    by ski2sky on 10/31/18Moore Theatre - Seattle

Was hoping for a good show, but really blown away by how good it was. The band was tight, vocals spot on. They played for just shy of three hours. Just when you thought they would take a bow, they pulled out another hit. Thanks Jim and Band for a great show!

    Simple Minds Beyond Expectations

by Suebug717 on 10/29/18Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Amazing Concert, attended it with my husband. Even the songs we weren't familiar with were really enjoyable to listen to. The band played 2 sets with a brief 15 minute intermission. Great smaller venue to view this talented band.

    Simple Minds were impressive!

by MsCHerie on 10/28/18Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

I am not a huge Simple Minds fan but my fiancé is. It was worth the trip to drive to LA and go to the Orpheum during the middle of the week. Simple minds put on an amazing show the musicians and the sound was incredible and I was suddenly remembering all of these great songs from the 80s. Even their new songs were really good. I really enjoyed the new drummer I thought she was awesome ! I also love the new back up singer. This was a fantastic show I am glad I got to see it as they do not tour in the states very often.

After a twenty year absence Simple Minds returned with a vengeance. Fantastic show. A little too loud is my only complaint.

by carolinet123 on 10/28/18The Masonic - San Francisco

24 songs in two sets. New and old mixed in. Kerr still has groovy dance moves and sounds as great as ever. New band members spice things up. I loved every minute - go!

Simple Minds are still Great live.

by Bill2010 on 10/28/18Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles

Despite many personnel changes over 40 years, Simple Minds are still one of the best live acts out there. The current tour draws from their New Wave '80's roots, through their bombastic stadium-rock sing-alongs, to the excellent current album. All done with top professionalism and maximum impact for live audiences. In Europe, they justifiably fill stadiums. Here in the US, where if radio plays them at all, it's "Don't You Forget About Me", fans are lucky to see them in a relatively intimate venue like the Orpheum here in L.A. One major quibble: the new keyboard player was missing for some reason, and most of the New Gold Dream era songs really need a strong keyboard. But the show still raised our spirits for the week.

Jim, Charlie & band put on a great show!

by Anonymous on 10/24/18Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

I think this was the first time SimpleMinds ever played Las Vegas and it has been awhile since they last came to the U.S. The Pearl Theater was a great venue. We had a great time and Jim and Charlie with the latest version of the band put on a great show with all the songs I love from them. The new drummer,Cherisse, was clearly having a blast kicking out those great songs and Sarah Brown was awesome on Alive and Kicking.
