    simian is live!

    by dgt626 on 3/22/11Terminal 5 - New York

Show was a little eh at first, all ages made me a little uncomfortable, as there were teens running around raving. By the time Skream and Benga came on though, the show took on a new air (probably due to some kids meeting curfew). Their set was super charged, they had a great stage presence. Skream kept begging that someone return his CD- "I been robbed man!" They fought over which tunes to play while passing a handle of vodka back and forth! Then came Simian. Simian brought down the house! the only group to play with their equipment facing the crowd-which made me totally hot because they were using mostly rack systems, which they bounced around, tweaking all the sounds live, i'm pretty sure there was not a computer in use!! That's awesome, as i feel that electro music is too often plagued by the omni-presence glowing white apple. Their stage presence all came out in their music, no mics, no interruptions, light system was definitely on point.

    Over think the opening acts

by Bobbydj on 3/22/11Terminal 5 - New York

We traveld from Germany to see Simian Mobile Disco in Ny. Terminal 5 is a great location for that and the club has a good feeling to it. The crowed was a bit young, but seemed to be ready to party. We arrived when a Dj with a military style cap just started out (Fake Blood?) Now this guy was out of this world and really new how to move the crowed and to create a sound and flow that is up to high standard. Brilliant. At around 11:30 pm two british guys got on stage. The african american looking guy actually was able to work up a flow, up to about a minute, when his white drunk dj buddy stopped the music and complained about: "I want my cd back". Since the friend I took a long owns a night club and I work as Dj, we both do not mind to see acts, where the act pisses on the audience or do other sort of things. But when I wanna see Simian Mobile Disco, I do not expect an act that tries to solve his personal problems by getting waisted off his a.... and start acting like a 5 year old one. Obviously we were to old (above 18) or did not had the right drugs, or what ever, but this performance was so annoying, that even when Simian Mobile Disco started to play, our mood did not got better, so that we left after 5 songs .

ooooooooooopener (yea, it was that long)

by douglarize on 3/21/11Terminal 5 - New York

I cannot believe how long the opener was! Really, nearly 5 hours? By the time Simian started to play, I had danced myself out and had far less fun than I had hoped :(. Otherwise, still love SMD.

Sick show! Non stop dance party from beginning to end. All the DJs were great.Granted the headliners were a little drunk and screwed up a few times, they still put on an awesome show. The light shows were also very cool.

Skream 'n' Benga, the best in dubstep

by Uberdoku on 3/21/11Terminal 5 - New York

Real good lineup, but Skream & Benga playing a dual set was unparalleled. I'm pretty certain there's no one of their caliber in dubstep right now, and it's no surprise, considering they were two of the originators in England. Really an incredible performance, including 2 songs played off their recently released Magnetic Man album. First time for me seeing Simian Mobile Disco and their show is also phenomenal, especially since it was a live set and their light show was incredible. The only con was that Terminal 5 needs a better sound system to be housing these dubstep shows--it's good, but surprisingly not good enough.

    Not what I expected

by PeteNam on 3/16/11Bluebird Theater - Denver

The sound was so loud and the lights were so obnoxiously blinding that our group left 20 minutes into SMD's set. Maybe we're just all old farts. Juan Maclean was pretty bad, rehashing old tracks from 2001. Maybe that's what's considered "retro" these days. I only paid $10 for the ticket, so I can't complain too much.

    Facemelter

by amesakron on 3/16/11Bluebird Theater - Denver

Epic. SMD ramped up into a rock electro jam that literally melted the faces of me and those surrounding me. And, one of the members watched the opener right next to me and my gf. Class act, killed it super hard in a small venue. Highly recommend

    HARD was amazing

by DJShea on 3/14/11Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Simian Mobile Disco, Fake Blood, and Mumbai Science killed it! I had never been to this venue before but it was actually really nice inside. I loved the different levels in the theater, it meant that everyone could see if they wanted to. I'm under 21 but I could tell this would be a nice venue to drink at because there were waitresses walking throughout the entire crowd, the drinkers weren't forced to stay in one area the whole time. It got a little loud in some places in the venue, but close and in the middle seemed fine. Only down side of the night was Destructo. He gets put on the bill because he puts on HARD, but he isn't worthy of the other DJs who mixed that night. Overall awesome night, danced my ass off and go to see some really talented people.

    HARD WEEKEND OAKLAND WAS AMASING

by Gabbylikescrayons on 3/13/11Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

One of the best events I have ever been to. There was the perfect amount of people there. Crowded enough to keep the energy up, but roomy enough to be comfortable. The crowd was not too rowdy or annoying, and the acts were great (but Fake Blood was so short! ): ). Music was great, sound levels were great. Lines didn't take long. Security wasn't overly invasive. They checked IDs and tickets properly. This was just an amasing night. TAKE. ME. BACK. PLEASE.

    HARDcore Dance Party

by fikus on 3/13/11Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

This was my wife and I's first HARD event and we were very pleased with the production level and smoothness of the show. We arrived at the lovely Fox Theater in time for the first act, Egyptrixx, and were pleasantly surprised by his performance. Next on was Mumbai Science, an act we had been looking forward to. We were not disappointed by this duo's performance and will definitely seek out their shows in the future. Next came Destructo, who 's level of suck allowed us the time to head to the bar and smoking lounge with our friends. We returned for Fake Blood, who got the now crowded GA pit area dancing and grooving to a solid performance. The crowd was now ripe for Simian Mobile Disco to take the stage. When the boys manned their gear in front of their honey comb lighting rig the crowd erupted ecstatically. This was my wife and I's fourth live performance by SMD and first since Delicacies was released. SMD held true to the high caliber shows we'd born witness to in the past. Also, this lighting rig was by far the best we'd seen yet. In addition, the set list spanned their entire music catalog and was performed flawlessly to the delight of the entire crowd. My wife and I will definitely attend HARD events in the future and we always enjoy attending shows at the beautiful and wonderfully staffed Oakland Fox Theater.
