About

Australian hard-rock trio Sick Puppies made their mark in the music world in the late ‘90s and early 2000’s with angst-ridden gems like “Nothing Really Matters” and a hard-hitting, far darker version of Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name.” With such emo fare, it’s odd that a heartwarming viral video set to the Sick Puppies’ song “All The Same” featuring a street performance artist giving out free hugs would catapult the band to wider fame. Tear-jerking videos aside, however, longtime fans know that the Sick Puppies music is usually far more loud and best experienced LIVE. With Shimon Moore’s powerful vox, Mark Goodwin’s virtuoso drumming, and Emma Anzai’s seriously sick bass-playing skills, admirers never miss the chance to grab tickets to watch Sick Puppies perform hits like “You’re Going Down,” “Odd One,” “Riptide,” “There’s No Going Back” and “Die To Save You” LIVE in concert. The dynamic band plays a blend of acoustic and high octane tunes, taking fans from mellow to mosh-pit within seconds. It’s no surprise that Sick Puppies fans travel from far and wide to catch their stellar act. Band members cite Green Day, Rage Against the Machine and Silver Chair as major influences on their sound, while their music has been compared to Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed.

    FANTASTIC!

by Phyrefly93 on 12/15/10The Pageant - St Louis

Sick Puppies are so interactive and involved with their fans. They signed items and took photos with fans after the show. The pageant gave great opportunity to be super close the Sick Puppies close enough to touch them. Emma gave a great performance shredding on her bass and smiling for pictures while her hair blew from her own personal fan. Everyone looked as though tey were having a complete blast! Fantastic concert. Sick Puppies sounded exactly like they do on their discs, but tey were definitely live and alive. PERFECT!

    lack of Sick Puppies

by shari65 on 12/15/10The Pageant - St Louis

Sick Puppies were supposedly the main event of this concert. As the headlining band, the Sick Puppies would be the last band to perform. A flyer posted in the Halo bar stated that they would play from 10:30-11:30 and the curfew was at 11:45 (strictly enforced). We have seen the Sick Puppies perform as the headline band at other venues and they played alot more songs than they were able to play at this performance at the Pageant. Very disappointed that we drove from Peoria, IL and booked a hotel to see them play for such a short amount of time. We have seen them play as an opening band and they played about the same amount of songs as they did at this event as a headliner.

    Sick Puppies Were GREAT!

by frodofragger on 12/15/10The Pageant - St Louis

Opening band (Bad City) was fair at best. 2nd on the bill was Alter Bridge and they put on a good show. Wrapping up the show were the Puppies. I had seen them once before at Pointfest last August and they were good (short set list). Monday at the Pageant they totally rocked. The music was right-on and the stage presence was fantastic. If you have not attended a Puppies show but like their music then you really need to treat yourself to a great time the next time they are in town.

    Sound was LESS then awesome

by DrSound on 11/29/10State Theatre - Portland

The band and venue were great. The show was awesome, it really rocked. The sound sucked. The drums and guitar were turn up so much I could hardly hear the vocals and forget about the bass, unless it was a solo. The bass drum was so amplified that when it beat my whole seat vibrated and that is all I could hear. If the sound had been balanced it would have rated 5 stars.

    Sick Puppies were SICK!

by Sckully on 11/29/10State Theatre - Portland

I was blown away at this concert, the venue was awesome! I love the comraderie that Shim gave to the audience, and Emma has got to be the best bass player in the biz! Could hear more from Mike but he's just sweet eye candy anyway. Bought the CD from the local band opener Space versus Speed, have to support our local talent!

    Amazing

    by Saabpaul9000 on 11/28/10State Theatre - Portland

This was only the second major act I have seen, this was different compared to the first which was Tool in Jersey city at the all points west festival. But I really enjoyed this show especially at the State Theatre in portland. The Sick Puppies really know how to work a crowd and put on a great show, the same goes for the 2nd act that preformed Terrible things. Just a really great show.

    Sick Puppies were awesome!!

    by pjc5 on 11/28/10State Theatre - Portland

The venue was great. There wasn't a bad seat. The music sounded fantastic. All three bands were very good and complemented each other. This is my third time seeing Sick Puppies, and they put on another great show. I wish it was longer. I definately recommend seeing them.

    Sick Puppies Transcend Pop-Rock

by Benantonio on 11/28/10State Theatre - Portland

While the Sick Puppies dominate top-40 modern rock stations with pop-laden grunge-ballads, their live performance was far from lack-luster. Breaking away from the usual Breaking Benjamin cover-fest, the Sick Puppies are a unique live rock experience. This simple, three-piece band had the sound of a full rock orchestra. And the live performance was ultra-heavy - a far cry from the wimpy stuff heard on the radio. A full-out pit erupted in the front. Drunk moshers were aggressively pulled from the overzealous crowd. My stinging ears bled from the dominate power chords. It is fair to say that the sick puppies rocked my night - highly recommended.

    SiCK PUPPiES; unforgettable night!

    by iLOV3emma on 11/28/10State Theatre - Portland

I had so much fun at the Sick Puppies concert. That was the first rock concert I've been to & it makes me want more & more. I would see them live anytime! I got to stand right up against the barricade, right below where Emma performed. I could feel the energy so well throughout the whole night. I would definitely recommend this concert to lots of my friends. I want to thank the Sick Puppies for even coming to Maine! Come again soon please! :D
