About

This Swedish indie pop quintet was formed in 2001 when childhood pals Adam (vocals, guitars), Carl (guitars) and Ted (bass) realized that, since they all liked the same records, there was (according to their official bio) "really no point in not starting a band." They were soon joined by drummer Eric and female vocalist and keyboardist Bebban, and the fledgling band recorded a three song demo. Their catchy, energetic sound (described as '60s pop infused with '80s and '90s indie rock) caught the attention of Filip Wilén, owner of Sweden's Bud Fox Recordings, and they were signed to the label shortly after. In 2003, they recorded a locally successful EP, 100°, and toured Scandanavia. In 2004, they recorded their first full length album Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, which, again, garnered them a huge following in their homeland. Their fame quickly spread to the U.S. thanks to their music being featured on the hit show The OC as well a tour with the successful U.S. indie outfit The Dears. They were quickly signed by Capitol Records who released the U.S. version of Howl Howl Gaff Gaff in May 2005. Shout Out Louds' hit singles include "Hurry Up Let's Go," "Shut Your Eyes," "Please Please Please," and "Very Loud/Wish I Was Dead."

    SOL <3

This was a fantastic show! The opening band, Freelance Whales were surprisingly great! Sometimes you're stuck with an opening band that sucks, this show was not the case... I loved the entire show, hands down.

Absolutely breathe taking! This type of show does not come around very often! My experience was absolutely magical. From the opener Freelance Whales up to the end of the Shout Out Louds set I was blown away. They put on a spectacular show!

    Too clean, too boring.

by wienerblut on 5/10/10Webster Hall - New York

Shout Out Louds are just a little bit too clean. The live performance is not surprising at all, we would have expected more. Sorry guys, but you should have noticed that the audiance was even more excited with your pre-act.

it started with the band Freelance Whales playing their new LP debut which set up the vibrant among the audience to get ready for Shout Out Louds. Shout Out Louds played all of their hit songs including Fall Hard and Impossible. the Stage set up was incredible. they have the colorful lighting, with smoke is released periodically on the stage. The crowd was cheering all the time and you can't really realize that your time is taken.

They put on a great show. Sound wasn't amazing; my boyfriend, who isn't as familiar with the music as I am, struggled to understand what they were saying. But hey, they're not exactly from around here.

by dayfoxx on 5/6/10Webster Hall - New York

LET ME JUST SAY that last night was a blast. I had so much fun at the concert! They were such excellent performers and did wonderfully on every single song. They were real and fun and modest and alive, and their talent definitely shone through to the fullest capacity.

Great energy, crowd was all smiles

by eric555 on 5/6/10Webster Hall - New York

The Shout Out Louds played the hell out of Webster Hall last night, their biggest show in NYC so far. They had a great, amped-up energy that ran throughout the whole show, staying peppier and bouncier than their recordings, and the crowd loved it, exploding for the final songs of the set and shaking the floor. Everyone left with smiles, even the Shout Out Louds, who genuinely seemed humbled and gracious for the show, taking bows before walking off the stage after the encore. Great.

Shout out Louds & Freelance Whales at Webster Hall

by DeDeNYC on 5/6/10Webster Hall - New York

Shout out louds rank in my top 5 bands. I enjoyed the show immensely- as Ive been dying to see them live and they rarely tour the states. However, their sound was too big for the space. It sounded fuzzy in Webster Hall. The Freelance Whales- who I had never heard before- sounded amazing in the space. Overall, I really enjoyed the show, was happy with the SOL's set list and delighted that I found a new band to follow- the Freelance Whales!

I first heard about Shout out louds a couple of weeks ago and immediately fell in love with their recent album. When I saw that they would be playing at Webster Hall I got tickets right away and loved every song they played. Just have to get their older stuff asap. Great show; very cool.

    Shout Out Louds were Incredible

by Anonymous on 3/2/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Amazing. Great set list that was so smooth and free of banter that it felt like a 5 minute show. Even spared us the drawn out encore that is a staple in most concerts. Awesome. The sound was perfect, and the energy high. Freelance Whales also impressed, very tight group, although they do seem like a bit of a motley crew.
