    An Excellent Show

    by Vandy1L on 9/3/10Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

When it comes to She & Him, I have to admit I was more interested in the "Him" than the "She." Indeed, M. Ward is a fantastically talented, creative and original musician. After seeing them live, however, I must say that Zooey Deschanel can certainly hold her own. She sounds even better live than on the band's albums--a rare quality in today's world of autotune etc. My only complaint about the show was that it was rather brief and decidedly straight-forward. They came out. They smiled. They had the required two minutes of banter. And they sang. I supposed it lacked the organic feeling that fans are often wanting from a live performance.

    Amazing experience

by Anonymous on 9/3/10Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

The show was so much better than I could have ever imagined, or hoped. The band was right on, M Ward and Zooey Deschannel's voices were perfect. The chemistry up on stage was fun, and they just put on a great show all around. A must see for any She & Him fan...you will not be disappointed!

    So Amazing

by EvelynG on 9/1/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward were unforgettable. The pacing of the concert was perfect. The intimate duos, covers of the Beach Boys and Beatles, were moving. The more upbeat tunes had everyone clapping and jumping up and down. Zooey has great energy, even as her deadpan self. I would go to that concert every weekend if I could. I am in love with the old style of her music, there is nothing else like it today! Everyone should see these amazing performers if they get the chance.

    Amazing show

by himfan1 on 8/31/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

I've always been a big fan of Zooey Deschanel and Matt Ward's work. I had never seen them live before this show, and I was beyond excited. My only complain was that there were no cameras allowed. All i have to remember this day is my ticket stub. She & Him played an amazing setlist and didn't leave me wishing they had played certain songs, I left satisfied and smiling.

    Terrible!

by dootdootdootgo on 8/31/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

I could barely hear Zooey, the kickdrum was so loud. I'm fairly positive that my hair was shaking. They didn't have enough duets. On top of that, cameras were absolutely not allowed. Not cool, She and Him, not cool.

    She & Him

I was underwhelmed. Lots of energy and cute, but all the songs sound the same live. Just got bored.

    Fun times and flying birds

by FYIconcertguy on 8/31/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Longer set than expected (this is good) from a 7 member band. Crowd was into it, as were the musicians. The movie star lead vocalist did a good job of not talking much through the first several songs and establishing a focus on her musical talents as part of a band. A bird flew around the stage a few times and excited the crowd. Sound quality was pretty good, although a bit boomy (due to the theater's set up). Several covers were performed and appreciated. Would recommend!

    Good Show, bad sound

by Tyrel on 8/31/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Just as the title suggests... the show itself was excellent. The band played a very tight set, and had an amazing energy. However, the sound man should get punished. The vocals were lost in the music and the drums were overpowering. Other than that it was nothing but a pleasurable experience. I never realized how tiny Zooey was until this show.

    She and Him was AMAZING

I really liked that She and Him sang with the first act but was wondering if the first act is actually part of the band. It was an amazing show!

    Was good but...

by Nameless on 8/31/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

I wished that they would have interacted more between songs. Seems like they played straight through, and sort of rushed at that, and then played us two encore songs, after the packed house clapped for several minutes. Do love Zooey and M. Ward, and the Chapin Sisters were lovely, but the back-up band was fantastic!

    Fun show

by cckcdan on 8/31/10Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Musically, She & Him were impeccable. I loved watching M. Ward work the guitar the way it was meant to be. I'm not a huge fan of the venue (Uptown Theater). Even though it's beautiful, the standing/general admission made it difficult for my wife to see the stage.

She & Him Shine in Oakland

by Anonymous on 7/25/10Fox Theater - Oakland

The concert was sold out and you could definitely tell as the floor was packed with fans enthusiastic to hear She & Him perform their brand of the "California Sound". Zooey sang with confidence throughout the concert and gave some small talk with the audience. But at some parts, the audience could not hear what she was saying and they fixed the volume on her mic so that we could hear her. Matt was awesome with the guitar and he sure shined on the guitar solos. They sang through their catalog of songs from Volumes One and Two with the exception of "If You Can't Sleep". They also included some song covers in their performance. The covers were "Would You Like to Take a Walk", "Roll Over Beethoven", "Ridin in My Car", "Fools Rush In", and she included her famous cover of "I Put a Spell on You". The concert lasted about two and a half hours total with the opening act (Chapin Sisters), the main set, and the two encores. If they come to this neck of the woods again, I'll definitely try to go see them again.
