About

Post-grunge rockers Seether looked back on their decade-plus career in 2013 by releasing a two-disc anthology dubbed Seether 2002-2013 and then, as is their longstanding habit, boarding their tour bus. Fans who scored tickets to the band's concerts saw the South African trio -- currently comprised of singer-guitarist Shaun Morgan, bassist Dale Stewart, and drummer John Humphrey -- pounding out favorites like "Broken," "Remedy," "Fine Again," and "Truth."

Seether came to the U.S. in 2002 after performing for a few years in their home country of South Africa under the band name Saron Gas. The risky move proved to be a smart one; the group easily slid into U.S. rock radio playlists and has since sold millions of albums around the world. Three of the band's albums -- 2002's Disclaimer, 2004's Disclaimer II, 2005's Karma and Effect and 2007's Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces -- sold more than 500,000 copies in the United States. Seether's 2011 studio album, Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray, reached No. 2 on The Billboard 200, making it the highest-charting album of the band's career.

Seether & Rev Theory were Awesome!

by CHeathBAR on 10/15/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

Rev Theory opened the show with great tunes & a lot of energy. By the end of their set most of the crowd was singing "Hell Yeah" with the band. Then Seether came on stage & the crowd went wild. Seether played a nice long set with all the fan favorites (Remedy, Fake it, Careless whisper, Broken, Needles, Gasoline, etc). The crowd was singing along to all the songs. There was also a good bit of crowd surfing & Shaun had the whole room jumping. Near the end they had a little technical difficulty with one of the amps, but the show went on with Shaun giving up his amp to Troy & he worked his guitar petals like an organ player (in a haunted opera house). It was an unforgettable night. They continue to be my favorite band!

    Aloof yet captivating

by CBLF on 10/7/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

I have had the honor of seeing Seether before when they toured with Breaking Benjamin & Three Days Grace. They're set was so amazing then that I vowed to make sure I see them again. Seether is not one of those power bands that need flashing lights or fireworks or the adulation of fans to be hyped up before coming on stage. Some artists/bands take a bit to warm over the audience before they make a connection. Seether really knows how to set the mood for their music very quickly. They slipped on stage and immediately began to play not caring if we were ready for them or not. They had a very good set (but I have to admit at times the sound was a little muffled and I couldn't tell if it was because of the venue or they own sound equipment). They connected very well with the audience on certain popular songs such as "Broken", "Fake It", and "Fine Again" , but there were moments where they seemed aloof and indifferent to the audience. The lead singer, Shaun Morgan, would leave the stage and sit by the side stage and just brood and become introverted. In a stange sense, I believe it added to his allure but after him doing it several times I wasn't sure what to think but still I was intrigue every time he came back to the mic and sang from his gut of pain, love, loss, hatred and self- hatred. It was very hard not to be sucked in by the lyrics and feel this instant connection to a band that is so very human and yet so very distant from the masses. As the set was drawing to a close, the more escalated the emotions ran with the band. They played harder and they became more fierce and then all of a sudden Shaun Morgan fell to his knees as if taken over my all the swirls of emotions he had to go through to get through each song he sang. It was really intense to watch him and hear him breath through his mic while his bandmates flung thier instrutments arounds and left the stage rapidly and hap-harzardly. The set ended with Shaun Morgan standing up looking sort of dazed and starting around the stage and stumbling throught the mess left behind by his bandmates. It was as if the say " I have left my soul here tonight " and he just left the stage in silence. Truely an amazing set and an amazing time.

    Seether - great

Great show - they're an awesome band. Some equipment issues prevented me from giving it 5 stars. I think it effected the sound......

    Seether - ROCK ON!

by SmartAzz on 10/6/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

The fact that Seether took the time to return to New Jersey so soon tells me they love us as much as we love them, well, maybe not quite as much. Technical difficulties aside, we were all thrilled to see the guys again. My friends and I are just crazy enough to have arrived about 7 hours before Seether was even scheduled to appear, with the hope that we would be up at the rail - we were. Sorry for anyone who had a less than an amazing time, but it was your own fault. The only thing missing was a meet & greet. ( I sure would love to do that again). Starland ballroom was better than I expected, and we certainly will be back there. As for Seether, they can do no wrong as far as we are concerned. I said it before and I'll say it again, I would pay just to hear them sing the alphabet! Rock On !

They played so many great songs during their almost 2 hour performance. Starland oversold once again and it was very crowded but the crowd was very good and did not see any incidents

    Seether Rocked!

by SamiG on 10/5/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

I had an awesome time at the concert on 10-3 in Sayreville, NJ. It was unfortunate that Seether was having some problems with the amp throughout the entire night, but they still pulled off a wonderful show! I was a little disappointed not to hear FMLYHM, but just because it is one of my favs, doesnt mean that it is everyone else's or that they had the time to do it.

Seether rocked, but the fans sucked

by SteveSeetherShow on 10/5/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

I love the Starland Ballroom and I love Seether just as much, but this concert was extremely forgettable for us. The concert was over-crowded and once Seether began playing, a rush of fat bald guys crashed into us and the show went down the toilet quickly. Even though there were tons of teenage girls in the front and there were only a small handful of idiots "moshing" around, the security did nothing to stop it. I was there early and had the Starland parking pass so I could get into the front area, only to have it ruined by drunk morons who rushed forward. I'm sorry, but you just don't act like that for Seether. If you want to have mosh pits, go to a real metal band such as Slayer. I was surprised security didn't stop this idiocy, so we left early and probably will not be returning to the Starland again. I've been to thousands of concerts and have never witnessed such stupidity, it wasn't expected at a radio band show like Seether.

    An awesome show

    by Elliemae126 on 10/5/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

The show was awesome. The only downside was there was a lot of technical difficulties, but the band more than made up for that by playing an extra song and foregoing the "leave the stage, wait for screams, come out again for more songs" stuff.

    Seether was excellent!

    by caramia732 on 10/5/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

Seether rocked the Starland October 3rd! They played lots of their huge hits and some new stuff and sounded great. Gasoline and Fake It were amazing, and had the whole crowd singing. Seether music is even better live than on their CD's. No studio musicians here. This is my 2nd time seeing this band in concert, and I like them more each time.

    Fantastic

by SirenBlonde on 10/4/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

I love this band. The show was great! It was well worth the 60M drive to get to the venue. I have seen them before, and I look forward to seeing them again. The interesting thing is that I believe they have only tapped the surface of what they are capable of musically. Time will tell on that revue, won't it?

    Seether - Second to none

by UFGatorbait on 10/4/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

Seether is an absolutely amazing band to see live, especially at a small venue like this. Very little stage antics - just straight rock music from start to finish. The only thing disappointing about this concert was that the crowd wasn't into it nearly as much as they should have been. I drove three hours to see this concert, and it was worth every second of the time it took to get to Starland Ballroom. This is the fourth time I've seen Seether in concert, and by far the best. If you're a Seether fan, seeing them live is a must.

    Seether could have been better

by rockluvr on 10/4/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

Saw Seether about 5yrs ago and they rocked. The lead singer seemed to be a bit messed up for this show which im my eyes ruined it. They had technical difficulties throughout the entire show. How does such a successful band not have this covered for when this happens at a show? Too many of the slower songs straight in a row, probably should have mixed that up better.

Shaun Morgan needs to remain sober during shows.

    by RAM2615136 on 10/4/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

I saw Seether earlier this year when they opened for Nickleback, and Seether was awesome! The show at the Starland Ballrom started out fine, but apparently 1/2 way through the set, Shaun Morgan couldn't remain sober. The show was still okay, not fantastic. I still love their music.

Rev Theory and Seether - both very impressive

by ScChTr on 10/4/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

The venue itself was fantastic. Not a bad place to stand in the venue. Drinks were a little overepriced. Rev Theory came on 1 hour and 15 minutes after the doors opened but they were incredible. Lots of energy and impressive performance. Seether was having technical difficulties all night. They've sounded better at previous shows. Covered two songs (Alice in Chains and Deftones).

Rev Theory saved a forgettable show!

by schellem on 10/4/09Starland Ballroom - Sayreville

Before visiting the Starland Ballroom for the upteenth time I was thrilled to see Seether. I was planning on getting there a little late because I had never heard of the opening act-Rev Theory. In the end I decided against it and arrived on time to listen to them perform. I was pleasantly suprised. They put on a great show and had a decent song selection. They were so good I even purchased a CD which the band signed. Then Seether came. I had already seen Seether at the Meadowlands and they were a little disappointing but I figured that being in a smaller venue it would be a more intimate show with a better performance. Boy was I wrong. Starting with poor accustics, even worse song selection and variation, coupled with terrible crowd stimulation Seether led a lackluster performance which I would be embarassed to give my Fans. I was tempted to give this 1 star but that would be unfair to Rev Theory who really did put on a good show so thanks to them I have to give it 2 stars. I just know I will not waste my time or money on another Seether show.
