    Meh heh heh

by Steady Eddie on 9/21/22The Wilbur - Boston

Hardworking troup with some standout actors. Pretty spotty skit material. Very uncomfortable seating upfront very close together and having to look at and up to stage perpendicularly as chairs could not be turned. Had a very few laughs. Good but disappointed. Group certainly worked hard in presenting their material.

Really funny show, skits and improv flowed well, would go see again!

    Not that great

by Visitor on 11/7/21Carolina Theatre - Durham

I liked 1st half but 2nd half was so flat. We sat quite in front but you could still not hear everything (we are not elderly). Big fan of 2nd City but this was not as good as I was hoping.

    Top quality skits and improv

by Sheila R on 2/11/20Carolina Theatre - Durham

As big fans of comedy and live entertainment, my husband and I were excited to see a touring group from The Second City, which we'd never seen before. It was a fantastic show! Each actor brought unique talents to the skits and improv and all were very good. The venue (Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC) allows for an intimate interaction without feeling crowded. The material was topical and thought provoking as well. I was thoroughly engaged for every bit.

    Disappointed

by Axe girl on 2/4/20The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

I had high hopes that this was going to be an evening full of laughs. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. I may have laughed twice in the hour and a half performance. Maybe I just didn’t get it but it just didn’t seem funny to me

    Had its moments

by Chuck on 2/4/20The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

There were funny moments, but not nearly enough to keep me laughing. I saw Second City a number of years ago and this show did not rise to the level of comedy I had seen then. I will note that it was noticeably better after intermission.

    Meh

by Likes2Laugh on 2/4/20The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

It was ok. I really had hoped it would be wittier than it was. Although I don’t mind the occasionally sex-themed skit or cussing, there seemed to by a lot of both which to me seems like a cop out for doing really funny stuff. Have seen them before and remembered it much better. Who knows? Maybe one will end up on SNL...

    Mediocre

by JAsb on 2/4/20The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

We were expecting more Improv as opposed to pre-arranged skits. While some were funny, it didn't hold our interest. We left at intermission.

    Perfect mix of comedy styles

by CaryMom on 2/4/20Carolina Theatre - Durham

The players were excellent and did a great-paced delivery mixed with sketch, improv, music and one-liners with set up. They made the most of a talented cast to keep the show moving along at a fun pace. They had timing to keep us going from one laugh to the next.

    Seamless!

by Menopod on 2/4/20Carolina Theatre - Durham

Well worth the ticket price! The pace and energy always consistent, the transitions smooth and artful, and the political comedy never preachy! We loved the balance of polished sketches and audience suggestion-based improv. The actors' versatility alone is worth experiencing.

    Great show

by Bob L on 9/18/19The Wilbur - Boston

It was non stop laughing 😂 deep belly laugh. We haven’t had this much fun in a long time. Our age group Comprised a 20’s, a 40’s and two seniors and we all enjoyed the show. I can’t wait for them to come back.

    Good show, great venue

by Ken House on 2/11/19Carolina Theatre - Durham

The Second City show was good and funny and creative. We were definitely laughing. The venue itself was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The staff was well-organized, friendly, quick, and helpful. Free parking right across the street was a real boon for my wife, who was on crutches. A crossing guard held up traffic to help people cross to the parking garage. A very kind usher kept track of my wife's crutches and brought them down to our row at intermission and at the end of the show. Excellent service and smooth access!

Sound quality was extremely poor for such a small venue.

    Good night

by Crazylegs on 1/22/19Stiefel Theatre - Salina

We enjoyed the show and loved the Stiefel. I didn't fall out of my chair laughing, but I rarely do. The performance was much heavier on sketch comedy than improv. It's a fun change of pace from movie night or beers and a ballgame.

    SoSo

by rbneil on 1/16/19The Wilbur - Boston

First the good news: I really liked the paperless smartphone-based entry (Does anyone not own a smartphone? How would he/she get in?) My seats were great--near the front of the mezzanine. The audio was very well done. And now the bad news: The show just wasn't very funny. There were a couple of good bits, but for the most part, well, blah. Bottom line: I'd go to the venue again, but I wouldn't go to the show.

    Great sketch comedy, so-so improv

by BigRedRick on 1/16/19The Wilbur - Boston

Went to Second City's show in Boston at Wilbur Theater on 1/13. The sketch comedy was very funny, a piece on a press conference with a child reporter was remarkably clever. We thought the improv portions were only fair; but the sketches were 80% of the how. Some adult humor, R-rated but not over the top; good for a date night. All in all worth dragging ourselves out of our cozy suburb into the city for a night.

    Second City is a riot

by wheresdebnow on 10/15/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

The show was very funny, but, there were parts that were completely over my head (could be an age thing!). I just did not get the joke. For the most part, the show was well done and I had quite a few good laughs. I would recommend this show to all my friends.

    Just average

by Gailzee on 10/10/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Not as imaginative of a show as I had expected. The alumni who came from this group out of Chicago made it to Saturday Night Live...not this group though. It was mildly entertaining, even from first row seats.

    Nah

by RBFTL on 10/10/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Didn’t laugh for the entire first half. 2nd half got slightly better. Was going to leave early like a few others did but my friends thought it could get better.

    True to their roots

by Marc1b on 10/10/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I come from Chicago and lived 200 feet from Second City. As always the skits were hilarious and on point. The improv was even better. How they come up with the stuff so fast is beyond me.
