Seattle Sounders FC History

The Seattle Sounders joined MLS in 2009 and quickly built a Western Conference powerhouse, winning four U.S. Open Cups, one Supporters' Shield (2014), and two MLS Cup Championships in 2016 and 2019.

Jordan Morris was named the 2019 MLS Comeback Player of the Year after recovering from a torn ACL that sidelined him for nearly all of 2018. In 2019, the Sounders earned the No. 2 seed in the MLS Western Conference and qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the 11th straight season. In 2021, the Sounders became the first MLS club to advance to the finals match of the annual North American Leagues Cup tournament, and in 2022, the team won the interleague CONCACAF Champions Cup.

  • Great game Great win

by John Soares on 9/3/25Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great game from the kick off. Young players were impressive. Great experience, winning helped. Incident after the game was unfortunate, but didn't change the anything. Sounders were superb. Sadly Miami players showed disrespect for the game and everyone involved. Bad loosers, poor character. Brought chame and embarrassment on themselves and their whole organization.

by SounderSupporter on 7/1/25Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

The atmosphere was a lot louder than I expected from an MLS game. 10/10 Experience would recommend. Make sure to pregame before bc drinks are not cheaper than $10

  • Fading memories of highlight summer experiences

by Tfus on 8/7/24Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

Why oh Why?! the late start?! On a Sunday evening, 6 pm would be ideal. 7 o’clock could make sense. But 7:30 (or later!) is beyond the pale. The PA system, the chatter and introduction “fall flat” to me (& my group). But the team’s performance was oh, so spotty. Some promising moments, some inadequate effort, or thinking, … deplorable mistakes. But, that’s what you get sometimes. The other team seemed full of vim ‘n vigor. Had plenty of ideas. We Sounders fans … left grasping at straw figures of ‘what once we were’

  • Fabulous Experience

by Edgar Chavez on 7/23/24Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

We went not expecting much, but once we arrived that tone completely changed. Constant chants made the game really entertaining even though the home team lost. The experience was fantastic and I would for sure attend a future game.

  • Nothing beats the gameday atmosphere

    by JayBee1974 on 7/21/24Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful weather. A 2-0 win. Frei's 112th clean sheet. And a nearly full capacity crowd for a Wednesday evening game. What more could one ask for?

  • Great game!

by Steve on 7/20/24Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent seats. Easy method of ticket delivery. Simple method to work with and get tickets.

  • Great Game & Great Experience!

by JB on 6/25/24Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Great Game and Great Experience for the family. User friendly app to buy the tickets and save to wallet for easy access to the stadium.

  • A fun experience!

by Andy from Canada on 6/25/24Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed attending a Sounders game in-person. Their supporters are not casual fans. About 70% of the attendees were wearing some team gear from hats, scarves, t-shirts and jerseys. Great atmosphere!

  • Bad experience

by Soccer Fan on 5/8/24Lumen Field - SeattleRating: 3 out of 5

When everything is that expensive, you expect to see professional soccer. I was shocked at the poor play of both teams. We’re huge soccer fans and I spent a few hundred dollars on tickets and food. The atmosphere of the stadium it’s not like it used to be. As much as we like it, I’d rather spend the money on subscriptions to watch the Premier league on TV.
