Seattle Kraken History

The Seattle Kraken played their inaugural season during the NHL's 2021-2022 season as the 32nd franchise. They are the first professional hockey team to play in Seattle since the Seattle Metropolitans, who were the first American hockey team to win the Stanley Cup in 1917.

The Kraken earned their first win in franchise history on October 14, 2021, a 4-3 victory against the Predators in Nashville. The win came in their second game played during the 2021-22 season. The Kraken completed their first-ever season in the NHL with a 27-49-6 record and 60 points. In the 2023 NHL Playoffs, the Kraken eliminated the Colorado Avalanche, winning 2-1 in Game 7 to become the first expansion team to beat the reigning Stanley Cup champs in their playoff debut.

    Too much tech

by SkateShootScore on 10/29/21Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle is a beauty, once you get inside. The Covid check and ticket processing were awful. Big delays as everyone figures out how it works. Out of town visitors didn’t have the Clear App for vaxx and were sent to another line. It was all pretty messy. The ticket readers were challenging g for non-tech fans. There were NO game day programs - only on the team app could you get rosters. All this activity bled phone batteries dry. Great game and beautiful arena.

    Be careful with Barstool seats

    by GB on 10/26/21

Went to the first game with barstool tickets. Thought I would have a clearer view than I did. The row in front is basically the same height as the stools. You have a great view of no one is sitting in the seat in front. Forget seeing the ice if they stand up. Oh, and I’m 6ft so I can only imagine how shorter people will have a difficult experience. Hopefully they’ll fix soon.

    by Elliot on 9/6/21

I didn’t go to a Kraken game yet but i’m excited because i don’t watch hockey so this could be my favorite team. Also if i have kids i can say “when i was your age the Seattle Kraken didn’t exist.”
