The actual performance was great but the little theater they packed us into like sardines was not expected. I can’t give it more than 3 stars due to being packed in so tight. The sore back wasn’t worth it.
This is in review of the BOOM Theater - Seats are WAY too close together. I had a large gentlemen basically in my lap for the entire performance which probably contributed to number two on my list. Chairs generally uncomfortable. - It was SO hot in that room I thought I was going to pass out. They need an air handler to move the air in this space because I did hear that people in the back were cold...go figure - Because the space was not originally designed for live performances there is no angle to the floor which means many can't see past the people in front of them That said, the performance was great!
Although I was happy with the Scrooge musical itself , I was a little dissapointed in where it was being shown. When I purchased my tickets I thought I was picking tickets for the actual civic theater. On Ticketmaster is shows what seats you are picking for that theater not the boom theater. I had two little kids with me and the way the seats were they could not hardly see the show Because of big adults sitting directly in front of us. So paying 25 a price for tickets and purchasing 7 seats it was dissapointing and the seats were not comfortable for a 2 hr show. Honestly if I knew this was how the seating was I would not have purchased tickets. I would have preferred the actual big theater . You can see no matter we’re you sit. I just felt like I was tricked when I bought these tickets. Again as for the performance… it was a good show.
It’s a small theater with big heart. The cast was great. Even working without a cast member the play went off without a hitch. The character Scrooge was played by Rob Phillips-Brown. He was great. The character Scrooge came alive. He could really sing and hold the note. If there is seats left I recommend it for a good Christmas evening out!
This was a memorable performance. The cast was amazing, and I'm so glad I got to see this wonderful show. I will definitely look for it again next year!!!
Not at all what we expected. It had a very dark undertone(Scrooge was very mysogynistic) and the song about going to hell was too much. Should be noted that this was not the child friendly version. The seating was awful. We were towards the back(3 shorter females) and at intermission 3 very large men showed up from nowhere and sat directly in front of us. Since the seating is chair on the floor we couldn’t see, so we left.
What a very delightful show. The actors were so very much fun to watch and listen to. I didn’t know what expect as we had never heard of it before. We enjoyed it so very much. Thank you for providing us with a wonderful night of entertainment.
