About The Saskatoon Blades
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is home to one of the oldest and most respected teams in the Western Hockey League. Founded in 1964 and playing in what is now the WHL since its inception in 1966, the Saskatoon Blades is the only original team in the WHL never to have relocated or switched leagues. In addition to Hockey Hall of Famer Bernie Federko, notable former Blades alumni include Braden Holtby, Mike Babcock, Brayden Schenn, Wendel Clark, and former Blades coach Brad McCrimmon.
The Saskatoon Blades play in the SaskTel Centre, which opened in 1988 as Saskatchewan Place and seats 15,100 for hockey. It is the third-largest full-time arena in the WHL and the largest not to concurrently host an NHL team. The SaskTel Centre has been expanded and renovated twice â for the 1991 and 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships â and has hosted the 1989 and 2013 Memorial Cups.Â
The SaskTel Centre also is home to the 2018 National Lacrosse League champion Saskatchewan Rush, and is where Bret "The Hitman" Hart won his first WWE Championship against "Nature Boy" Ric Flair in 1992. A nearby street is named after "Wild Bill" Hunter, who helped found the WHL and the Edmonton Oilers, and whose efforts to move the St. Louis Blues to his native Saskatoon in the '80s eventually led to the development of the SaskTel Centre.Â
The remains of Saskatoon-based legend Gordie Howe and his wife Colleen are interred at the base of a statue of him outside the SaskTel Centre, making it a necessary pilgrimage for die-hard hockey fans.
The Saskatoon Blades are in the East Division of the Western Hockey League's Western Conference, along with the Swift Current Broncos, Brandon Wheat Kings, Moose Jaw Warriors, and their two main rivals, the Prince Albert Raiders and the Regina Pats. The Blades have won nine East Division regular season titles, have appeared in the league finals five times, and were runners-up in the 1989 Memorial Cup, which they hosted.
I took my nephews to their first time to a Blades game. The sound system was blown in section 7 and we could not understand anything. It was so disappointing we left after first period and listened to game in my car. Very bad first experience
Was a good game ! Love to see the young fellas setting up plays making some nice goals ! Just in section four speakers were unbearably loud and crackling like they were blown ! Someone must of complained or technicians finally turned off speaker. We had Kleenex stuffed in our ears until thenđ
We had seat service from our section. Fantastic! Great view of the game and pricing was very reasonable.
The overall experience was amazing only thing the seats are very close together there was no shoulder room and therefore restricted the ability to really get into the cheering.
Easy parking, ticket entry good, lots of fun. It is always too loud.
I do not like the electronic ticketing. A lot of faith is going into a cell phone. I do not trust mine. Why can't printed copies be used.
Saskatoon blades are awful. Not a good time watching them play. I was only there to see Connor Bedard play. He was a treat to watch. Blades suck
HAD NOT BEEN TO A BLADES GAME IN 2 YEARS AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE ENTRTAINMENT VALUE! GREAT PREGAME SHOW ON THE ICE AND FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY DURING INTERMISSIONS. GREAT JOB BLADES!

i love going to blades games, there always very fun and the crowds gives it an interesting and cool experience every time i go. will be continuing to go to them and cheering on our amazing saskatoon blades!
It was quick service at the Saskatoon Bananas game. Everyone from the staff that got us through the door and the people serving food.

My friend and i truly enjoyed the game. Saskatoon has a very skilled team, fast, great play making and goaltending that is so important at this level. I will attend as many games as possible. Go Blades go.
The game was fantastic. We are pretty sure that we won the 50/50 but when we asked one of the 50/50 people, they said the number and info is online. There site did not post the results or the winner for the game and no idea how to claim if we did. No info on the site about that.
WHL is a great use of an evening. Cheaper than a movie - more exciting than watching NHL at home. Highly recommended. Good community spirit too.
The venu is great. Spilled a drink in our section and a person was quickly there to clean. The blades played well and won their first game.
