Another Triumph!
by Gaypenguin on 5/1/25Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5Another most enjoyable concert. It wasn't flashy or particularly dynamic, (except for "You Can't Stop the Beat"at the end), but that's OK. It didn't need to be. It was nice to sit back, enjoy 20 classic show tunes, enjoy the dancers, and let the music tell its story. The chorus was pitch perfect and professional. It was wonderful to once again have a physical concert program. Another great thing was that there were no people cat-calling from the audience to their friends in the chorus. Interesting aside: when we arrived, a theater rep offered to upgrade our seats from the balcony to the orchestra level for free. We didn't hesitate. The Balboa Theater is a classic, and it's unfortunate the the SDGMC will be moving elsewhere for furture concerts. They left the theater on a high note! And it was a good signature signoff for departing artistic director, Dr. Charles Beale.
