Excellent day of walking packed with all of the food varieties you could ever want, both high quality and fast junk. Great variety of animals and events for children and adults. Very impressive flower displays and craft events to check out. Layout was easy to follow and there was a nice mix of musical performers from laid back to rowdy to cater to all audiences.
Great food, great events, great exhibits, great shopping!!!!
On July 3rd, the fair was awesome, but getting into the parking lot was a nightmare. It took us 1 hour just to get into the parking lot. Once we were in the fair though everything was great.
Best Fair Ever... Always have a great time and so much to do.
The Four ticket with all the drinks ,ride and gate passes was a good trade for limited income people with grand kids.
We bought game tickets and they were easy to pick up and the staff at will call were very sweet and helpful. The tickets are worth $1 each so after the fees you save about $5 over paying at the game booths with cash.
Going to the parking from the freeway was horrible. It took us almost 1 hour and there's not enough sign or traffic volunteers to lead us to the events. Parking was another problem. My parents walked almost half a mile to get to the front entrance. There is no will call box, two personnel handled my transaction prior to admission. That's fine though, it's not an issue. Inside the fair, it's crowded to get additional tickets. Not enough seat provided to enjoy your meal and restrooms are not well marked. Lastly, the cart that brings seniors were not as friendly. There were two drivers that we asked and gave us run around. They've been just driving in circles with their empty cart and I don't inserts and why not give my parents a ride. They were in their 80s. There's not enough personnel to really ask. I bought the $5 coupon, and the booth I still have to find. It was in the middle of the event. It could've been upon entrance. I probably was bias, comparing it to Costa Mesa. This was my first time at Del Mar and may say, it enough to experience if ones.
After sitting in traffic for two hours, we were exhausted when we finally arrived at the Fair. We made our way to the Tea Garden, were warmly greeted by the event staff, and were promptly seated and attended to. After a refreshing tea and light lunch in the lovely garden, we went to make our mad hatter hats. Such fun! It was a great way to start the Fair, leaving us relaxed, refreshed, entertained and happy. Please do this again next year!!
Not really worth the money! Self serve, find your own table, the tiniest (but tasty) morsels ever. Stand in line forever to make a hat. Stand in line to get your tea, stand in line to get your mimosa if you paid extra! The Queen of Hearts visits and chats were the saving grace. Not again for me!
I absolutely LOVED it. I would do it again and pay for a friend to come with me if they could. the only thing i didnt like about it was that i came as a single person, so it was a bit awkward. The red queen was delightful. i should have taken a couple of pictures with her when i had the chance, but when i wanted to, she had 'retired to her quarters' I guess. I had 3 pots of tea and made a bit of a mess (which i still feel bad for because i think i died a small bit of the tablecloth with my passion tea and I apologize for that). Oh! i almost forgot. I made the cutest hatter's hat there.
Signage to get to the tea location was greatly limiting. Not easy to follow. We had a party of four. There is no reserved seating. First come first seat, but they don't seat you until 10 min beforehand. There wasn't any apparent direction on what was going on or what we were supposed to do. We were supposed to get checked in and get stickers. Even though we were inline, the sticker lady was RUDE, and said we were in the wrong line. Again, NO SIGNAGE. She told us to get in back of a very long line, even though we had already been in a line! We were told we could make "mad hat" which was a very cute and clever hat craft. Again no signage and very little direction. You just watched what others were doing and followed. Then we get to the table, there was only 2 trays of food. 1 savory, 1 sweet. The tea was self serve. But again, no obvious signage so I had to ask and was told this. The hot water was not hot, but luke warm. Tea selection was minimal. It's a cute departure from fair activities but not organized well. Expensive for what you get.
I recommend this to everybody I know that goes to the fair especially if you have children. It is such a great deal and you can use them throughout the month unlike some of the deals that are one day promotions.
The fair is an unforgettable experience and should be visited by everyone in San Diego County. Unfortunately, it is not a cheap experience! You must have a lot of money to enjoy ALL the festivities. But with the TICKETMASTER deals for rides and games, I was able to give my children a great time and not spend too much money! I will definitely be looking for the deals next year on TICKETMASTER!! so much to do, we stayed all day. I had my grandchildren and they just loved everything . Short lines for the rides and lots to eat
the Fair was terribly over priced tickets were insanely high and lots of the Extreme rides were closed this was a terrible experience for my son who flew out here from another state to experience the fair.
These are awesome deals. I was so grateful to be able to practically get my admission for free with the deals I purchased :)
The carnival rides and bungee jumps fufilled the adrenaline junkies in our family. The kiddy area was also enjoyed by the younger family members in our group. The food options were amazing, tasty and affordable. The general parking fee was quite high though! The coupon book offer was a perfect budget helper. Our overall experience was definately an excellent family experience and we'll be going again next year!
